17 Awkward Conversation

After my conversation with my sister I had raged in my room for several minutes before deciding that I needed help to deal with the prat that was Ronald Weasley. I could kill him, I knew I could. Find a super poisonous snake, convince it to bite him, dead red-head.

But the suspect would be rather obvious as the Gaunt's were the only family that spoke to snakes.

So I went to my current favorite person, as in Daphne, only to find her with Astoria and Tracey in some sort of meeting.

"Tori, you will need to subtly ask the younger brothers and sisters to see if they know anything."

"Why? Its not like they'll be the ones at Hogwarts."

"Yes but their sisters will be, and they will send letters to their parents. Trust me, a girl with a crush will always find a way to mention their crush."

"Like you do."

Daphne glared at her sister.

"You're just jealous."

"Yeah, I don't even think Reig's penis can fit inside me," Astoria said wistfully, taking a sip of tea.

"Uh, guys, Reigis is here," Tracey said, bringing the three girls attention to me.

Tracey smirked at me, but the other two flushed realizing I had heard their conversation.

"Reigis, I didn't know you were visiting today," Daphne said, standing and moving to me.

I pulled her into a hug, drawing it out more than usual, and felt the tension from earlier begin to dissipate. I gave her a quick peck on the lips before joining them at the table.

"Well I had something I wanted to ask your advice on, but it can wait, what are you all talking about?"

Daphne sat down as well, giving the other two a quick look.

"We were… Well we were holding a sort of Coven's Council."

"Excuse me?"

"A Covens Council, its an unofficial thing really. Especially since they haven't joined yet. What it is, is members of a Coven, sometimes the men join sometimes not, will gather and speak about the Coven, our individual and group goals and desires, and how to best go about it."

"And why wasn't I invited?" I asked with feined annoyance.

Daphne obviously didn't pick up on that like the other two did and squirmed a little in her chair.

"A Coven Council doesn't always benefit from the wizards presence, as most of the women don't want to lose favor or seem like they are whining. If two witches are having issues with one another, but wish to not let the wizard see they can hash it out with the Council and have the other members help them work through it."

"Whose having issues with who?" I asked, my brow furrowed.

"None of us are," Daphne assured me. "Its only us three after all, but we were discussing plans for future members. Do you remember when you told me about your Grandfather's order about the first year?"

"Need a dozen girls in my Coven yeah."

"Well we were making plans on how to determine who is interested, who is a good choice, and who is available."

I raised my eyebrows.

"You guys are going to help?"

"Well obviously," Tracey said good naturedly. "It really isnt going to be hard to get a dozen if you think about it. Just get the dregs of the upper years who are desperate, but we don't want to do that. We want a strong Coven with trusted members, so we are going to make lists of those of interest. Astoria is going to talk to students younger siblings for any gossip, see if one of their sisters is interested in you. I am going to go around face to face meeting potential candidates and keep an ear out for gossip to see if they are putting on a fake face, and Daphne is going to research family ties and organize which ones are a yes and which ones are a no."

This felt like a job interview instead of looking for life partners, but I didn't say that. I knew that as a society living in the past it was normal for it to be more transactional, not that I'd accept a pure transaction member.

"Speaking of, we need to ask preferences from you so we can eliminate the undesirable," Daphne said, taking out a notebook.

I felt my back stiffen. Now it really felt like an interview.

"First, Reigis, do the potential members have to be virgins? I know some men are stringent about that. The issue is that unlike purebloods, half-bloods and muggleborn grew up in muggle society where these things are looser, there will likely be a few of them who have already had sex."

God this was awkward.

"No, but I don't know if I would be comfortable with someone who is…"

"A slut," Daphne supplied clinically.

"I was going to say overly promiscuous, but yeah."

"Understandable, while whores can have their uses, in a large Coven they might end up a liability if they decide to get their desires sates elsewhere."

"Have their uses?" Tracey asked.

I had the same question.

"Yes, such as doing more morally obscene things. Like being willing to do anything anywhere at any time. They can be a good third wheel in a sexual act or be of use getting Reigis off in normally inopportune times or places," Daphne said. "No one will blame a man for getting a blowjob in the hallway, but they will whisper about the woman. I don't know about you but I would prefer not to be gossiped about in such a way."

The three of us stared open mouthed at Daphne. She was still talking like this was a business meating despite the topic.

"Okay then…" Astoria said slowly.

"Yes, so if we do decide for a more loose women, virgin or not, we need to make sure she is willing enough to do such things, but not so loose as to do it behind our backs to another wizard. Is that alright Reigis?"

"Uhm, yeah…"

"Good. Now next is age range, obviously younger would be improbable, for a multitude of reasons, but what about older?"

"I don't mind if they're older, Fleur is."

"Ah yes, have you two decided to finalize it?"

"Not yet no…"

"Well, we will put her in the desired section for now, just in case it doesn't work out. This will open a lot of doors for us. Like Tracey said the older students will be more desperate for a bond, as Hogwarts is the easiest place to get one. But that is not all."

I looked at her curiously.

"There are also those outside of Hogwarts that may be interested. We can visit Hogsmeade during the weekends as much as we want. Should an older woman, as in out of Hogwarts, be desirable to you we can go there to finalize their entrance into the Coven by renting a room and having sex at The Three Broomsticks. Is that an issue? A woman that much older than you? Some may even be at the ages of our classmates' mothers."

"As long as I like her, no..."

Daphne nodded, noting it down. The rest of us sat there awkwardly, Tracey cringing at each blunt question and Astoria just staring at her sister with wide eyes. I was surprised at how much work she was putting into this. Just a few months ago she was unhappy with the idea of sharing me, and while I didn't think those feelings had gone away, she seemed to put them aside for the "Greater Good."

I snorted, and the rest of them looked at me with questioning expressions.

"Just a thought, ignore me."

"Okay, now racial preference."

I opened my mouth to speak, but Daphne continued.

"I know you are already courting a Veela, so you are not completely turned away from the idea. Xenophillius Lovegood is known to have a wide variety of magical races in his Coven, would that be an issue for you should a non-human meet our standards?"

Oh duh, racial as in magical race.

"As long as I am attracted to them, both physically and emotionally, no it doesn't matter."

She nodded, noting it down.

"Reigis is going to fuck a fairy!" Astoria yelped. "Sounds painful for her."

Tracey and I laughed at her outburst while Daphne waited patiently for us to stop.

"Now lastly is casual relationships and trial periods."

"Huh?"

"Trial periods are like our bethrothal, only not on paper. Sort of what you have with Fleur right now, only more intimate. They get to know the rest of us, and see if they are compatible, if so they join, if not they go along their way."

"Yeah, that makes sense."

"Good. Now casual relationships. These are when some random girl throws herself at you and you just fuck her without bringing her in."

My eyebrows rose.

"Huh?"

"Oh its going to happen, some girls do it to try and get into a Coven, but others just want to have sex. I've spoken about this with them before," she said nodding to Tracey and Astoria, who both had awkward looks on their faces again. "We are not opposed to your casual relationships, as long as they do not interfere with actual Coven members' time with you. This can also act as a substitute for a whore member of the Coven."

I just stared at her, my mouth slightly ajar with no words coming out.

"However, should the relationship begin to effect you and us more, you will, yes will this is non-negotiable, either see to bring them into the Coven or cut them off entirely. It is vastly improper to have an emotionally intimate relationship with a woman not in your Coven. Okay Reigis?"

I didn't respond, still trying to see if she was saying what I thought she was saying.

"Reigis?"

"Oh, uhm, yeah. All checks out. I gotta go."

Daphne nodded, not understanding my response, but the other two looked at me with both sympathy and awkwardness.

What a world to live in.
