37 Chapter 37: Quest

Updated status time!

Giliath's temporary title: [The Iron Chad].

I will apologize in advance for any elements in this story that may refer to Xianxia-style chinese novels. Zemuria not only has magic, it has martial arts and battle qi. I am planning to give mc a few techniques to practice.

And what better way is there to practice them than while he is in the DG Cult?

o.o

Don't forget to drop those power stones!

Seeing me unlock [Meditate], I inwardly smiled, but I remembered to not stop my breathing technique that Roselia is currently teaching me.

"Umu, you are learning fast.", Roselia said, complimenting me. "And what was that buzzing sound again? It does get quite annoying.", Roselia asked.

I inwardly blinked hearing her.

"Are you able to see the Gamer's notifications?", I decided to ask Roselia. Well, according to her, she can easily connect with my mind now. The Gamer system is attached to my very soul, but it probably isn't out of the question of her being able to see it.

"Is that what you call this?", Roselia asked.

"You saw it already, didn't you? Well, to put it simply whatever I learn or practice, it can be displayed into a screen of sorts. It's mostly used to help me visually, but it can also be used to help me advance.", I explained the Gamer system to Roselia.

"Is that so? This thing must have been tied to your last life.", Roselia guessed.

"I wouldn't really call it like that...", I retorted. Hell, even I didn't know where this Gamer system came from. One thing lead to another. I was only playing Reverie, and next thing I found myself in, the Gamer system was already becoming tied to my soul, thus leading to my reincarnation here in Zemuria. I mean, did I even die? Or did it just move my soul over? Questions kept rising regarding this. (A/N: MC has seen up to Kuro I but hasn't played it personally)

"Hmm, so you say this can help you visually, does it act similarly to mana scrying?", Roselia asked with wonder.

'Mana scrying? Is Roselia referring to those large visual screens that everyone uses when a major event occurs? The same one that displays their faces to speak to the protagonists, even without being there in person...', I wondered to myself.

"Heh, it might be best just to show you.", I decided to say. Continuing my breathing in a certain pattern, I took this time to see what my new skill, [Mediate], was. Before long, a blue screen appeared in my mind. I saw Roselia's astral form shift her attention to this blue screen.

[Meditate - lv1/100

A skill that allows the player to enter a meditative state to cultivate mana and restore stamina. Further improvement restores the rate of mana quicker. Rates can be improved if player learns breathing techniques.

EP recovery rate: 0.01 EP/second.

Stamina recovery rate: 0.01 stamina/second]

And unexpectedly, after receiving the notification for [Meditate], Roselia and I were distracted by a couple more notifications.

[Ding! Player Naoto has entered a meditative state for the first time, and started his path on learning magic.

Reward: Max EP+100]

[Ding! Main Quest has been triggered: Learn Magic.

The continent of Zemuria has a lot to offer, Magic being one of many things. Magic has been slowly lost through time, or had its theories converted through the Orbal Revolution. But there are some who still realize its existence and practice it in secret.

1. Find a person who realizes the existence of Magic (1/1)

2. Accept a master-apprentice relationship. (1/1)

3. Enter Meditation for the first time. (1/1)

4. Construct a Mana Core. (0/1)

5. Launch your first spell without the use of an orbal device. (0/1)

Rewards: Stellar Breath Technique. Three SR+ or higher Quartz. 5 levels. +200 Max EP]

Both of us blinked without saying anything after seeing these couple of notifications to appear out of the blue. Not only did [Meditate] trigger a reward of some time, but to think it would trigger a Main Quest...

"Umu, it looks like you just got rewarded with something? Is this what you refer to as 'Advancement'?", Roselia asked curiously.

"Pretty much. But I didn't think using [Meditate] would trigger a Main Quest. Let alone Quests, a Main Quest is pretty rare...", I uttered.

"What exactly is are those, Quests as you call?", Roselia questioned.

"Well, they are essentially proof of effort in which they reward someone for doing said effort. It's an easy source of motivation.", I explained to Roselia. "And well, as for Main Quests, they are more special. Those are typically tied to one's story itself. I could only assume it's tied to me in this case, as it's motivating me to learn magic. It may have implications of what happens in the future.",

"I guess if there is anything to relate to, then this behavior is similar to those Bracers. And you definitely know what happens in the years to come, but who knows if any of that will actually happen. Your presence was not among those memories at all. So for all I care, they could very well be fake.", Roselia surmised.

"Haha, yeah. Bracers are most experienced in dealing with situations that behave like these Quests I receive. And we will have to wait and see if what I know is the truth or not.", I responded back happily.

"I also want to know, was that the only Quest you've had thus far? If not, how has your current progress been going?", Roselia asked.

"To be honest, I've been so busy Training with father I haven't been keeping a personal check on it. I'm curious to see what my own Status has been up to. And no, I've completed a couple other quests before this, but nothing was tied to the Main Questline.", I answered Roselia.

And to follow that, I decided to bring up my own Status screen. Sure enough, many of my stats have improved overall.

"Wow.", I responded in surprise, seeing my updated status. I mean, it truly has been a while since I've last seen it, and it looks like there have been a few changes as well. To begin with, it looks like Quests are sorted by which type it is now, which is nice. It also shows which skills are new and aren't new from the last time I checked it.

But the most impressive thing are those stats...Seriously father, what are you trying to do to your three year old child? I'm well over the Level 10 mark if I compare my stats to cold steel. And that intelligence stat...Isn't that a little too high for a toddler?

But I did get to learn something new from this. The Int stat does factor into my total EP. And since I'm starting to learn Magic, I will probably mostly develop my skills that are magic based, that mostly being ATS, ADF and INT. If I do end up becoming a student for the Vander and Arseid school, I will be able train my physical stats more.

But with Roselia teaching me Magic, magic stats it will be for now. And to explain a bit, ATS refers to how strong one's Arts can become. It's your damage stat. ADF refers to one's defense against magic/arts. As for INT , besides it making me smarter, it directly correlates to how much EP I earn. As for EP, it can be earned a few ways. my INT stat, my level ups, and the unlock system on one's battle orbment. They are categorized via slots, and these slots have their own levels to unlock. The more levels one unlocks, the more total EP they acquire. Well, at least that is how that part worked in the game.

Thinking that, I looked over to Roselia again, and I could see confusion in her eyes.

"Umu, I have no idea what these numbers mean, but I could only guess the higher, the better.", Roselia responded, confused."

"Pretty much, yeah. As far as I recall, the highest level recorded was Level 250 in my memories. And once reaches that Level, the stats become pretty insane.", I answered Roselia, who nodded.

"And they can be raised through various means?", Roselia continued to ask.

"Yup. And I can let you in on one thing in regards to this.", I said to Roselia.

"Hoh? And what would that be?".

"Have you ever heard of the grind?", I asked, revealing a grin.
