Chapter 164: A New Subordinate?

Giliath demands your power stones!

*

"Good.", Captain Cid said, nodding his head, before turning back my way. "By the way, I was looking for Lieutenant Schwarz to bring you here, but since you're already here, I can give this to you now, Your Highness.", Captain Cid suddenly said, which drew my attention toward him. I only saw Captain Cid reach inside his desk drawer, only to pull out a large closed file. It had Top Secret written on it, which only made me turn more serious...

"We received a personnel report not too long ago. We're keeping them here as a guest, but it seems someone wants to apply for a position at Grancel Castle. As your secretary, to be exact.", Captain Cid said, only to move the file toward my direction. Seeing him do that, I saw general Morgan nod his head in agreement too. Seeing that, I could only take the file into my hand, and slowly opened it. Overall, it was pretty simple to read, but the moment my eyes wandered to the person of interest Captain Cid was talking about.

My eyes became a bit wide in surprise the moment I saw the person on file Captain Cid was referring to.

It was a very pale white skinned beautiful woman. What was most striking of her appearance was her pearly white hair which had violet specks streaking down the sides of it. She also had pretty fiery orange eyes. It wasn't just that either, on her image it showed she was wearing blue plated armor and dark shorts, pieces of armor that was very familiar with. It wasn't hard to recognize this person as a Jaeger. However, the moment I began to read her name and title, my surprise continued.

"Jayna Storm, Ex-Vice Commander of the Northern Jaegers. Last standing princess of the fallen noble house, the Balmund Family. Age: 29. Gender: Female. Requested to work at Grancel Castle at the position of Secretary. Holds several years of combat tactics and strategy planning. Recommended.", which was written on the file open before me.

"The fuck?", I couldn't help but curse, which caused the people in the room before me to blink their eyes.

"We were pretty surprised too, but seeing how North Ambria is facing these recent years, it won't be long until the nation gets absorbed. Probably fled while knowing that ahead of time.", Captain Cid could only guess.

"Pretty much the same line of thinking. I'd rather not get involved in matters of North Ambria since Erebonia already has it in sight. I won't turn highly capable personnel down like this. I'd even sign her up for the military too, if she didn't express her interest to work at Grancel Castle beforehand.", General Morgan said as he nodded his head.

"Still, it is your decision, Your Highness. You can come in now, Miss Jayna.", Captain Cid said, which only caused me to blink my eyes. Hearts stayed quiet seeing as he was now a Private. He could only wait for him to be dismissed.

"With pleasure.", An alluring woman's voice said, reaching my ears before I saw the door behind us open. I saw the same woman who I just saw on file appear before me. She was even more beautiful in person, coupled with a nice perfume currently releasing from her body. I could only blink my eyes as I saw Jayna reveal a smile at me.

"It really is an honor to meet you in person like this, Your Highness.", Jayna said, revealing a big smile.

Things were about to get more interesting, huh? Still, my own Secretary?

She was pretty breathtaking, that much I'd say.

I wonder how the rest back at the Palace will treat Jayna if I decide to bring her there?

"I share the same sentiment. It is a shame what's been happening in North Ambria. Still, seeing you put that behind you, and for Captain Cid and General Morgan to recognize your ability, it's giving me a hard time trying to turn you down, haha.", I said, welcoming Jayna here in Leiston.

"Just name it, and I'll begin work.", Jayna simply smiled back at me as her eyes turned into two crescents.

"Will do, I do have one more matter through which I need to bring to your attention though while I'm here, Captain Cid.", I said, only to look back at him.

"Oh? Please don't tell me you're going to try and sneak away again, Your Highness.", Captain Cid retorted after hearing me say that.

"Nah. That's why I want to bring it to your attention. I plan to take a bit of time to prepare to receive my mother's legacy. I may be gone from Grancel for a period, it is best to let you guys know first.", I answered Captain Cid, telling a bit of a lie.

In truth this was for me to partake in the Vermillion Trials. Seeing my seriousness, Captain Cid knew I wasn't joking around here. He nodded his head.

"Understood. We will raise a high alert during your time frame. Just give the army a shout of your duration.", Captain Cid said, nodding his head.

"The legacy of your mother...", General Morgan began to say, only to shake his head a bit in sadness. Seeing him do that, my eyes blinked again.

"That's right, you knew mother, didn't you, General?", I asked with interest.

"Yes. I have served her on occasion before. It is a shame how her life went to waste like that. I do not know the trial you'll be partaking in, but as Captain here said, we'll make sure we're on high alert, should anything go wrong.", General Morgan said, nodding his head as well.

"You plan to head back to the castle, right? I did see an airship drop you in, but it vanished shortly after. Do you want to use one of ours?", Captain Cid asked, wondering how I would get back from here.

Hearing that, I only grinned.

"Now you see, that's where the fun is. Though this is the first time I'm going to attempt it myself.", I said, revealing a grin. And if Jayna was going to start working for me, it'd probably be best to show her how my Inventory worked as well.

I only reached my hand downward, only for everyone in the room to see it vanish into a dark hole.

"The hell?", Captain Cid said in surprise as I used Inventory. I ignored his remark though, and pulled out the training staff Roselia gave me ever so long ago. I continued my motion, letting my mana run free. Even General Morgan blinked his eyes after seeing a sudden blue aura wrap around my body.

My Inventory closed shortly after. I tapped the ground with my staff, letting my mana run rampant. Roselia did teach me the Teleportation spell among other spells when she trained me back at Eryn Village, but I hadn't used it much before this. It does consume quite a lot of mana, especially since I'm trying to move directly to Grancel from here. Since I've grown a lot since then, I figured I would have enough of a mana pool to consume at least a distance this wide.

"I'll see you guys around.", I said, only to utter a soft chant. Right after, my body lid up, only to vanish from sight inside of Captain Cid's room. Teleportation was successfully activated.

Captain Cid could only blink his eyes in surprise seeing me suddenly vanish like that. As for Jayna though, she remained silent, sporting a smile on her face after seeing that. Hearts though...he just stood there with a blank stare in his eyes
