I jump down from the tree above and stab the boar. It resists a bit but I proceed to butcher the boar into 2.
Its hide is thick but compared to my Katana, it's nothing.
I grab hold of the body and went back to the village. It has been 3 days since the start of stage 3.
All the quests I received lately are only tending to the corps, tending to the cows and horses and also hunting for my food. My fame has increased to 49 due to my sudden change in the village and good rumours about me are spreading like wildfire among my neighbours.
"Kel!" Shouts my father. He also seems more cheerful nowadays.
I smile at him and says "I bought back another load." pulling out a bag of meat.
"Hahaha!!! Good, good!"
I bow to him and went back to my room.
Now...my grinding is going smoothly but I need more stats and stronger opponents...what should I do? I remember there being a cave somewhere in that forest I always hunt in but it's very far and the others might get suspicious if I don't return in time.
I sigh and checks my stats

At night, I sneak out of the village and go into the forest. There are no patrollers or guards because who in their right mind would want to raid a village that has completely nothing? Well, I suppose bandits will. There are still some beautiful girls here too after all.
I run further and further into the forest, not making a single sound and avoiding every twig, leaves and branch.
Soon, I reach a cave that was blocked by a huge rock.
I draw my katana and slice the boulder into 2, allowing a small gap for me to enter.

This cave is quite moist...there must be some monsters living down here if I remember correctly.
As I venture deeper into the cave, a system warning shows up.

Something behind me strikes and I duck before slashing the figure behind me into 4 equal parts.
The figure screeched in pain and retreated into the shadow. Looks like its hp and speed is high.
Trying to ambush me? Heh. Try then.
I close my eyes and focus all my senses.

Above me?!
I jump back as the figure strikes the ground. Flipping mid-air, I land on the wall and use it as a boost to charge towards the shadow figure.
It startles and tries to escape back into the shadow but within one second, I manage to achieve a speed similar to light and butchers the shadow into 30 parts.
I look at my katana as I recover from the sudden fight. There are remnants of black smoke.
What? I look back and see the shadow, smoky creature dispersing into thin air.

I nod.
After confirming their doubts, the village chief grasps my shoulder and she lets out a sigh. For someone her age to look young is rare. "...You don't need to. The king will help us."

Once I hear that I accidentally release a thin killing intent and it startled everyone.

The king won't help us. We can only depend on ourselves from this year onwards.
After all, we are just a small village that nobody cares about...tch.
Tomorrow...is the day a "hero" comes to the village. Apparently, others view my village as a "beginner village" because my neighbours like to give easy labour or gathering quests to adventurers and strangers.
The hardest quest ever given in my village is to hunt for some animals.
And if my deduction is right...that "hero" is also a player too...called Golden. She is the top third ranking player in the first stage and I heard she caused quite an uproar in the second stage too. Known for her kind yet sadistic behaviour, she is favoured by many fans.

The next day, I decided to act more casual than usual and mimic the acts of my neighbours and my childhood friend.
We suddenly hear a horn being blown and everyone started to panic.
"What's happening?" I ask.
"Oh. That's the horn stating an arrival from the kingdom. I wonder who's arriving...is it a handsome prince?!"
Mino's eyes start to shine with excitement.

However, I will refrain from saying it.
A huge group galloping can be heard from a distance, I can see a group of 5 people riding their horse here. It's probably the companions of the hero. Good, more fodder for me.
