Karma's first playthrough

"Karma, wake up," says Aki.

I get up and see everyone staring at me.

"U-Uh...what's wrong?"

"It's the sixteenth wave." Says Recardo, pointing outside the window.

"God damn it!! Our ammo is running out!! And we still have to deal with this shit!! Don't they get tired of attacking all day!!" Says Leon.

Although Leon is usually hot-tempered, we understand why he is acting like this. Just 3 days into the game and there are already countless waves of monsters attacking our fort.

"It is the last stage though! Cheer up, everyone!" I say.

"Then you go out there and fight them then!!! You are the only one who can fight consistently without ammo!!"

"Huh?! Against them?! M-Myself?"

"Yeah." Says Aki. "Aren't you a grandmaster in swordsmanship? You can do this!"

"But I still have limited stamina..."

"So?" Says Recardo.

I try to look for En, she is not here. Oh yeah, she went to collect supplies with group 2.

I gulp at everyone gazes... it's scary...

"Ugh! We have no time to waste!"

Leon grabs my collar and pulls me out.

A whole crowd of monsters are running towards me. It feels like I'm in a supermarket with a black Friday sale...haha...

This amount of monsters can fill up 20 football stadiums completely...

Some are mutated corpses with 2 heads and 8 arms, holding 8 weapons.

They are the undead and is hard to kill even one alone.

But everyone is counting on me! I have to do it.

I grip my katanas tightly, with two weapons in each hand, I prepare to clash with the oncoming monsters.

I dash forward and slice the first monster, then the second followed by the third. Within only a few seconds, I cleared out a portion of the wave.

Those monsters need to be butchered completely to kill them or they will regenerate and fight again. That's why the most effective way is using explosions.

That's why those with lots of body parts are always the most bothersome to kill.

I...finally beat them all.

Surrounding me are mountains and mountains and mountains of remains from the monsters.

"Tch." The biggest guy in their team walks up to me and grab my collar.

"We saved your ass!! And that's how you treat us!"

Afterwards, they describe everything to me.

"No...impossible. I collapsed outside my team's fort and no one came to pick me up?"

The girl in front of me nods.

"We've seen you fight. You are a great fighter and you also have a kind soul, sacrificing yourself for your teammates. Leave them, You are just being used by them, join us instead." She says.

"I-I'm sorry!!! I can't abandon my teammates!" I say, bowing my head. "And I trust them so there must be some reason-"

"Arghhh!!!" The big guy walks to me and grabs me by the collar, he attempts to punch me but I deflect the punch away and flip his heavy body to the ground.

"Nope. We can't anyways, we are not even the main assault team of Azreal and this is not our main base."

"I see...then thank you for saving me once again," I say.

I then look through my inventory.

I take out rifles and guns together with ammo and give them to the girl.

"You sure you want to give us these weapons?"

"Yeah," I say." you guys saved me after all. And I can't use guns so... Haha..."

They look at me and then at each other. Even the big guy softens down.

"You really..." He tried to say something but stopped.

"Anyway, thanks. Bye guys."

I open the door and left.

"He is too naive...but he is kind..." Says the big guy.

"...reminds me of our leader..."

I reach our fort and unlock the gate.

The alarm rang and the turrets started shooting me.

Why?!

I deflect all of the bullets and break the turrets.

Leon and the others quickly run into formation and aim their rifles at me...until they realised it's me.

Once they do, they are speechless.

"Y-You are alive?" Says Aki.

What?

"Oh uh...nothing." Says Aki. "I'm glad you are alive."

"Hey...aren't we running out of ammo?" I ask. "Why is the turret still functioning then? Don't they use the most ammo?"

"Ah! That...uh...Leon forgot to turn off the turrets. Right?"

"Huh? Me?" Leon looks at Aki with a confused expression.

"Uh...yeah!! Hahaha...my bad, I was too stressed by the waves of monsters so I forgot!" Says Leon.

They are acting...weird.

That was the first time, I start suspecting them.

But soon the suspicion stopped as they no longer ask me to do anything too dangerous and impossible. But they still chat behind my back and ask me to keep out of their conversation as it's "private".

5 days before Karma's death

Today, Azreal attacked us once again.

But it's not the main team.

Instead, it's the team that saved me.

The big guy has already been shot to death. The only one alive is the girls.

Aki asked everyone to gather in the courtyard. I did too and that's when the girls notice me, they started struggling as if trying to tell me something.

Their faces are badly bruised and there is something that smells on their clothes.

Recardo smiles and tells everyone to back off. He then takes a grenade and throws it at the girls.

"Wait!!!" I shout but it's too late.

The grenade explodes and their bodies explode by the grenade into a gruesome gore.

I froze...my legs were unable to move.

Now that I think about it...i can't believe how stupid I am back then...there were so many signs! Yet I dismissed all of them...
