In the few seconds Shin had before Sojiro stumbled across him and Futaba laying on the floor, he had to make a decision. He could try to head out the entrance door, though that meant he'd be seen by Sojiro since he didn't have enough time to close it silently, and if he simply slammed the door, the older man would hear.
Obviously, that left only one course of action: going into Futaba's room. It was much closer to the two teens, which would allow Shin to close the door quietly and without being seen.
Shin picked up the other teen and stepped inside the room. He quickly looked around and saw that despite the trashbags covering the floor almost entirely, there was a little area right in front of Futaba's PC, most likely from her moving on the chair.
Speaking of the chair, Shin got an idea, so after closing the door carefully behind him, he put Futaba to the side before grabbing the chair and laying it horizontally.
"Pretend that you fell off the chair." he whispered to the girl.
Futaba nodded and did her best to look and sound confused and with a hurting head. The sound was enough to alert Sojiro, who by this point had reached the door.
"Futaba!" he shouted. "Are you alright?"
"Mm..." Futaba grimaced. Even if Sojiro couldn't see her, it was something to get better in the role. "I fell off my chair, but I'm not hurt."
Shin could almost hear the relief coming from Sojiro when the man exhaled.
"That's good. I'll be heading back to the cafe now. I left you curry on the table in the kitchen." he said. Shin could hear some light footsteps as the man walked to the door.
Futaba wanted to curse. She forgot that the man would come around this time to leave her food. Sojiro must've thought she fell asleep or something and stuck around waiting to let her know.
It was an awkward situation that could've been avoided if they waited a little bit more to go in the Metaverse, Shin thought.
"Shiho's going to flip out when she hears about this." he said.
