Bit of Oyamada bashing

"...Okay, that's it for today's examination." said Tae, placing her clipboard on the desk. "If you're feeling okay, you're free to go home now."

"Actually, I've been meaning to ask: would you be willing to make some medicine that strengthens the body without any side effects?" said Shin, with his arms crossed.

Tae furrowed her brows.

"What makes you think I could make anything like that?"

"Well, you're making a cure for Crawford-Ende's all by yourself. Also, there's that thing with the little girl, when you immediately knew how to suppress her disease. You're pretty amazing, you know."

Tae blushed slightly and coughed into her hand to dispel her awkwardness.

"Even if I could do something like that, I don't have the time for it."

"That's why I only asked if you were willing to do it. I know you can, and I also know you don't have the time now. But once you finish working on this cure, maybe you can try this out."

At this point, Shin stood up and picked up his bag.

"So what happened with the little girl after all?" he asked.

"They just keep coming back here... Even thought I already referred them to another hospital. I even explained to them about the medical error under my name..." she said, shaking her head incredulously.

"As expected."

"Huh?"

"I don't know if you realize this or not, but you have a certain air of cool confidence whenever you're treating your patients. It really makes people feel safe in your hands." said the teen, smiling.

His comment made the doctor's blush more pronounced, and she put her head on the desk and murmured.

"I'm just a quack though..."

"Come to think about it, I don't remember ever hearing more about this medical mistake you made."

"Well, I used to lead the development of a new drug for Crawford-Ende's disease. Although I didn't administer the medicine, it was the cause of error." said Tae.

Shin went next to her and leaned on the desk.

"Go on." he urged.

"With Crawford-Ende's, certain cells indiscriminately attack other cells throughout the body. When it reaches the muscles, the patient slowly begins to die... There hasn't been much progress on it, partly because there haven't been many cases."

"I see."

"I worked with a pharmaceutical company that had reached the final stage of production, but... I was suddenly removed from my position. That Chief of Staff Oyamada, my superior at the time, took over the entire operation. I don't know if he wanted the glory of developing a new drug or to become rich and famous, but he made careless mistakes and rushed completion so he could use it on a patient named Miwa."

Even if he hadn't known beforehand, he could guess what happened after that.

"Miwa had a reaction and lapsed into critical condition. The chief panicked and laid the blame on me. Miwa and her family resented me, and nothing I would say would change how they felt about me..."

"Hah! Not only is he a coward and extremely unfit for the role of "Chief" over anything, but he also had the brains to shove the blame on his best doctor, when he could've just used some random kid on an internship as a scapegoat. Or did he actually feel threatened by your skill and wanted you out of the medical world? What a pathetic man!" said Shin, chuckling.

Tae couldn't help but snicker herself as she took in what Shin said. She couldn't help but feel that Oyamada was rather miserable.

"The funny thing is, he's been trying to make me quit being a doctor entirely, even when I'm out here, being a general practitioner." she said, smiling.

"How did someone so lame even become Chief of Staff?"

"I have no clue. Anyways, I'm getting really close to finishing it, but I'll need your help. So you better not flake on me this late in the game."

"Of course, doc.
