A young sorceress, Alyssa Sharr, is in search of her parents and battles with monsters, demons, and wizards alike to discover all she can about her past. As she searches across the many realms acquiring clues and information that will aid her in her search, a series of attacks redirect her attention to find out who is trying to kill her. She comes across new friends and allies while her enemies attempt to stop her. Chapter 16: The Depths of Darkness

The village was quite a distance back behind Markus and Alyssa. With only moonlight as their source of light, they made their trek towards the fortress. Alyssa glanced over her shoulder at the village which seemed to much smaller the closer they got to the fortress. Farraz the barman had told her before they left, that the village experienced more darkness than usual because the fortress itself was kept in perpetual night. The beings there shunned any form of bright light, and reacted violently if any being attempted to cast away the shadows, which Alyssa had noted, connecting the times she had managed to block or distract the cloaked figures previously.

“Is there a reason we couldn’t have used a portal to cross the distance between the village and the fortress?” Markus asked as he rubbed his gloved hands together.
