6 Chapter 4: A Change in Sky?

Having killed four green-skinned monsters, Su Yu felt utterly drained. Though his left arm brimmed with special power, the rest of his body was in so much pain that it had nearly lost all sensation.

Beyond his left arm, Su Yu could no longer feel any other parts of his body.

As he fell to the ground, he heard heavy panting. Struggling to lift his head, he saw Qin Jiagui holding a wooden stick, his face covered in cold sweat. In front of him lay a green-skinned monster with its brain splattered on the ground.

This was the last green-skinned monster. Su Yu had knocked it over with his bat, and Qin Jiagui had taken the opportunity to rush forward, wildly beating its skull until he finished it off.

Right now, Qin Jiagui was staring dumbfounded at his right hand. On the back of his hand, something peculiar had emerged, not black scales as with Su Yu, but a tiny patch of blackness that looked like a new mole at first glance. It felt icy cold, as hard as steel to the touch. When he let go of his right hand, the peculiarity disappeared.

Su Yu gave Qin Jiagui a grateful look. If he hadn't killed the last green-skinned monster, Su Yu may have died at the hands of this fifth one after killing the first four.

Inside the classroom, only Su Yu lying on the ground, Qin Jiagui standing up, Su Yun who had just managed to rise, and the monitor Lei Rui standing by the door were left.

The rest of the room was a complete mess.

"Su Yu--" Su Yun got up and hurried over. Looking at Su Yu's pitiful state on the ground, she was terrified and stammered, "Su... Su Yu, how are you doing?"

Su Yu slightly lifted his head, looking at the five green-skinned monster corpses before him. It felt like he had experienced an intense dream. He bitterly smiled, "I can't move... it hurts... so much, I... I might pass out soon. But, Su Yun, I didn't expect... you to care so much about me. Do you... do you like me? Just admit it…"

Su Yun was taken aback and instinctively slapped Su Yu on the back of his head. "Nons..." But before she could finish her word, she looked horrified. With that slap, Su Yu had passed out completely.

Qin Jiagui repeatedly clenched and unclenched his right hand, feeling the fluctuation of the special power within it. He mumbled to himself, "I get it now... No wonder Su Yu became so powerful. After killing these monsters, we can actually... actually gain unimaginable power..."

A sense of excitement emerged on his face, following the extreme tension he had experienced.

When Su Yu woke up again, he was lying on a sickbed in the medical room.

The room was crowded with people, and temporary beds had been added due to the insufficient number of beds originally present. A quick glance revealed many injured people, all bandaged up like mummies.

Remembering his own injuries, Su Yu glanced down to find that he was probably the most heavily bandaged among everyone present.

Besides his left arm, he was bandaged all over and could not move at all.

"Su Yu is awake."

A voice cried out in surprise, and then familiar faces including Su Yun and Lei Rui appeared.

"Su Yu." Another sweet voice rang out as Su Yu slightly lifted his head and saw a woman with a perfectly fair complexion and creamy skin.

This woman was in her mid-twenties with long hair falling over her shoulders. She was dressed in a black half-dress with a belt cinching her waist, showing off her full and attractive figure, especially her long legs that roused desire.

"Mr. Meng." Su Yu spoke, which startled him, as his hoarse voice sounded completely foreign to him.

This voluptuous mature beauty was called Meng Bo. She was the adviser for their Computer Science II Class and taught them university-level English. Even with a boyfriend, she was unmarried and was the dream girl of many male students, their fantasy when daydreaming at night.

"You were very brave. I never expected you to kill four of those green... monsters by yourself." Her color slightly changed, revealing a lingering fear, when mentioning the green-skinned monsters.

Su Yu suddenly recalled that there were at least fifteen or sixteen green-skinned monsters invading the campus. He hurriedly asked, "What about the other monsters? How is the situation now? And what about Zhang Zhongmou?"

He wanted to ask about Ning Yan's situation but stopped short when he saw Su Yun beside him.

"Young Master Yu, where the heck are your eyes? I'm lying right beside you, are you only interested in the pretty girls? Can't even see your brother here?" From beside him, someone grumbled.

Su Yu turned around in surprise, only then noticing that a fellow injured person was lying on the cot next to his, with half of his face wrapped in white bandages. On a closer look, he realized it was his best buddy, Zhang Zhongmou, wasn't it?

Su Yu heaved a sigh of relief. Although Zhang Zhongmou seemed to be badly injured, surviving was all that mattered.

Meng Bo said, "A total of seventeen, all killed. Su Yu, focus on healing your injuries. Everyone, let's leave so we don't disturb them."

"Yes." Lei Rui responded. She looked at Su Yu with concern then suddenly said, "Su Yu, thank you."

Surprised, Su Yu didn't expect this haughty honor student, who usually never paid him any mind, would thank a mediocre student like him.

"What's wrong? Head of the class?" Su Yu was taken aback.

"I'm thanking you on behalf of the entire class. If it wasn't for you that time... we would all be dead. You... saved us." Lei Rui was somewhat embarrassed when Su Yu called her "Head of the class". Recalling her previous attitude towards Su Yu, she quickly left with Su Yun, feeling a bit awkward.

Su Yun turned to give Su Yu another look, as if she wanted to say something. But in the end, she didn't say anything. Instead, she turned to Zhang Zhongmou and blurted out, "Take care of your wounds."

Zhang Zhongmou said wonderingly, "Su Yun's behavior sure has changed. Since when does she start caring about others? Young Master Yu, isn't this strange?"

Su Yu grunted in pain. His whole body was in agony. Reflecting for a moment, he asked, "I was out for some time, and when I woke up, I was here. What's happening outside now? Have the police arrived? Have they figured out what those monster-like creatures were? Did they escape from a zoo? Or did some crazy scientist create them?"

"Police?" Zhang Zhongmou's face darkened as he said, "No, everyone's phones have no signal, nor can any calls go out from the school's landline. Probably hundreds of people have died this time... The bodies are still lying outside and the school staff seems to be arguing over how to dispose of them."

Su Yu felt a chill in his heart, followed by a surge of anger. He asked, "With phones not working, can't they reach out physically? The station isn't far from the school. Something as serious as this has happened, and no one's doing anything about it? This…."

His outburst aggravated his injuries, causing him to gasp in pain.

Given the number of injured people, they should have been transferred to a larger hospital. Instead, they were crammed into the school's medical room. Limited by its facilities, only basic bandaging could be done, and the room was filled with the moans and groans of severely wounded patients.

Su Yu was already a bit angry. Could it be that the school wanted to cover this up? Impossible. Given the number of deaths, how could they hide it?

"Outside our school… it's no longer the site we normally see. There are no roads, no residential areas, no internet café we used to frequent, no snooker room… Just an endless forest all around, full of towering trees."

Zhang Zhongmou's voice became more and more strange as he spoke, and towards the end, his tone had nearly changed.

Anyone would find this astonishing. Su Yu was dumbfounded and for a moment, he thought he had misheard. Then he turned to the other injured patients, and asked a girl, "Is everything he's saying true?"

The girl's face was filled with terror. She simply nodded, too scared to speak.

The school had been replaced by a forest? What was this? A sci-fi film or a Hollywood blockbuster? Su Yu was just about to laugh, thinking that Zhang Zhongmou and the others were making this up to trick him.

Suddenly, Su Yu remembered the loud rumbling and violent shaking in the school before the incident. Then, the sky had darkened. At that moment, he vaguely felt as though the day had literally changed.

"A change of day?" Su Yu sucked in a cold breath, suddenly feeling a chill run through his body.
