2 Ch. 2 A New Life with New Problems

Date: August, 2013

POV: ???

Location: ???

"Hmmm... What happened...W-where am I?" I said, feeling something on top of me, and threw whatever it was off my body as I suddenly felt heavy and felt like I was covered in sweat.

In fact, wherever I was it felt way too hot for any reasonable person to be in I tried to stand up but whatever I was on seemed to shift my already weakened body just couldn't adjust I fell off the side of whatever I was on and fell to the soft but hard ground with a loud thud.

Then the gears in my head began to turn, and finally, I came to one conclusion.

'I just fell out of a bed like an idiot,' I thought and tried to stand up before anyone came to see what was going on.

But then another idea popped into my head just as I struggled to get my face unacquainted with the carpet floor.

'Wait, I have a body... I'm back from the dead I've been reincarnated!" I thought, standing up quickly, only to feel extremely tired and struggle to keep myself standing up.

Cursing under my breath, I try to find a wall to lean against, only to have to take multiple steps to finally find what I think is a dresser.

'Where the hell am I?' I thought, and after much shuffling and cursing and knocking into far too many things while struggling just to stand, I finally found the light switch.

With a satisfying click, I was almost blinded by the light of the hanging fan that illuminated the whole room and what a room it was.

The room was huge with golden wallpaper that sparkled covering the walls and the bed I had fallen from was easily the biggest bed I had ever seen Fancy cabinets and drawers were on the walls with a single large flat-screen TV with multiple video game stations already connected with a cabinets full of games right next to it.

Even the carpets were colored gold small sparkles shining off the light of the hanging fan and then I saw the room had curtains both closed but then I looked by the closet and saw the reflection of a stranger in the large mirror on the outside of the door.

It showed a young man in black boxers with black hair and pale white skin they had a lean but well-defined body built like a runner but with some minor scars all across their body but what caught my attention were their sapphire blue eyes.

I stared into the reflection of those eyes until I clutched the side of my head and fell to my knees as Images, life moments, and much more information from a life that wasn't mine filled my mind mixing and matching trying to become one with the information already in my head.

I wanted to scream, but I was in so much pain that it caused me to clench my mouth shut, and my scream came out more like a growl.

After some time or at least I think there was no clock in the room from what I could see, I stood and looked at myself in the mirror.

"My name is Benjamin Bradon...and I'm in the DC universe...I am so fucked..." I said staring at my reflection as I spoke each word.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

After taking a few minutes to collect my thoughts I went over what I knew about myself first before trying to figure out what DC earth I was on but my new life wasn't going to be a cakewalk.

Benjamin Bradon was born an orphan his parents having never been in his life all he knew about them was they had dumbed him in front of Gotham's home for the young and wanted an orphanage not even leaving a note.

Benjamin growing was by all accounts a loner and growing up in the shit hole that was Gotham he had quickly joined one of the many gangs of the Gotham underworld.

"So how does a gutter rat get a room like this?" I asked myself walking over to the closet and opening the door.

But to my surprise, the room had barely anything in it but a few pairs of clothes I felt belonged to me so I started getting dressed while also looking for a wallet or phone.

After a few minutes, I looked myself over in the same mirror wearing what my memories told me was my normal outfit a black jacket with silver highlights a white undershirt black fingerless gloves black cargo pants, and a pair of black boots.

I did find a wallet in my jacket pocket with some ID but little else except a few bucks and it seemed Benjamin Bradon didn't have a phone.

As I looked myself over in the mirror adjusting the outfit here and there a white screen appeared in front of me I jumped back but it followed me.

[Yugioh System now active]

[Would you like to start the introduction?]

{Y/N}

After waiting for a few minutes to see if the screen would disappear like any hallucination and it didn't I slowly pressed yes.

[Starting tutorial]

[If you wish to see the system functions just think or say the word 'system open']

I did so and six tabs appeared that reminded me of the tabs from Yugioh Master Duel.

I followed along with the introduction, learning as much as I could about the system Limbo gave me I tried to ask questions, but unlike other systems I've read about this one, it doesn't have an A.I. companion or an inventory.

"Well I'm glad o won't have to deal with a voice in my head but no Inventory could be a bit of a problem," I said looking through the far larger shop and all the things I could buy.

Then, another white screen appeared, interrupting my thoughts.

[You have completed the introduction]

[You have gained]

•Beginer Duel Disk

-5,000 gems-

[You may now pick your first structure deck.]

•Legacy of Dark Magic (Dark Magician Girl)

•The Rituals of Dread (Vendread)

•Flames of Synchrons (Archfeind)

•Destiny of Fusion (Destiny Heroes)

•Nobility of Zexal (Noble Knights)

•Link Generation (Sky Stricker)

I looked over the choices with some trepidation I was in Gotham City, so I couldn't use anything too flashy if I wanted to avoid the bat family or the different villains and anti-heroes of the city.

So Flames of Synchrons, Nobility of Zexal, Link Generation, and the Legacy of Dark Magic are out immediately even if they are the strongest among the decks here.

The Destiny of Fusion as much as I love Destiny Heroes it could take me a while to perfect especially if I want to add elements of the other heroes and Neo space.

"So I'm left with The Rituals of Dread," I said, looking at the structure deck and shrugging "Definitely needs some work but not too bad," I said while selecting my choice.

With all the different effects and its dark tone would fit in a city like Gotham.

A moment later I felt a weight on my arm and looked to see the unmistakable shape of a classic duel disk from the original Yugioh series and already inside the card holster was a stack of brown cards with a black vortex.

I quickly figured out how to activate the Duel Disk and got to work on my deck, spending 2,000 gems in total to get the cards I needed to feel comfortable with the deck.

And after a few tests with summoning small monsters and using a few small spells giving me a hood idea of what I was capable of at the moment another white screen appeared.

[Mission: Know your world]

•You are new to this city. In fact, you're new to this world time to figure out your place in it.

-Go to the Gotham Library and do some research.

[Reward]

•Amulet of Revealing Light

-3,000- Gems

After a bit of memory divining, I was confident I could find the library, so making sure I didn't need anything else, I walked to the door of the room only to find the door locked.

"How the hell did I even..." I began to say only to then look at the closed window curtains I sighed and walked over to push the curtains aside to see a crossed window down with a broken latch a fire escape and a bustling city right outside.

(Sometime later)

'Gotham was a wired city,' I thought as I sat at the computer terminals in the dark and dim but very large library.

I was a little surprised to see I was one of very few people who was inside the large building, but it was the twenty-first century.

So, after doing some research, I can confirm that the Justice League is a thing, but the roaster is a little different than I'm used to there were your usual members Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash but then the extra slots were Aquaman, Shazam, Green Arrow, and Green Lantern.

No Cyborg, Martain Manhunter, Hawkgirl, or Jon Stewart Hal Jordan was the green lantern on the roaster in this universe.

"This universe seems to be a mix of CW and the animated series Cannons," I said softly making sure I wasn't being listened to as I continued to research the history of this universe's Justice League.

Apparently, three years ago the Justice League came together to fight off an invasion by Brainiac the A.I. Attacking not only the surface world but ended up attacking and revealing the locations of Atlantis and Themyscira to the world.

After a fierce battle, the heroes were able to repeal the evil space robot and return some of the abduction survivors.

The Justice League then became established in the Hall of Justice in Washington as their base of operation.

'So there's no watchtower either or it could be being kept a secret,' I thought as I leaned back in my chair when another white screen appeared.

Since I'm in Gotham I did a little more research on what situation the city was in but more specifically on what villains were running around and what type of Batman I was dealing with.

But from what I could find it was the typical routes gallery of any Batman but it seems the bat family is still just Batman and Robin who was most likely Dick Grayson.

[Mission: Know your world]

(Completed)

•You are new to this city. In fact, you're new to this world time to figure out your place in it.

-Go to the Gotham Library and do some research.

[Reward]

•Amulet of Revealing Light

-3,000- Gems

I smiled as I watched the number of Gems go back up when I felt something Land in my lap looking down I saw a chain neckless with a pendant that looked like three swords interlocked with each other.

[Item]

•Amulet of Revealing Light.

-Three times a day reveal all secret, hidden magical items or hidden entities in a 100-foot sphere.

-After each use for 5 minutes you can detect lies.

'Holy shit that is an awesome item to have especially in a city like Gotham,' I thought as I put the neckless on and after some consideration activated it.

When suddenly I was aware of everything around me as if I suddenly gained 360 vision and to my shock found a magical item.

"All I need to do to activate it is just think it that's simple enough though I did kind of waste the first us but hey magic free stuff," I said quietly as I stood so quickly and loudly that a passing librarian shushed me I apologized and powerwalked over to where I detected the magical item.

After making my way through multiple rows of bookshelves I found the row with the item and after removing a certain book I found a...fancy pen.

[Item]

•???

-???

I examined the pen clicking it repeatedly to see if anything would happen but it just seemed like a fancy old pen.

"Ok let's put that in my back pocket for now," I said after dismissing the screen and making my way out of the library.

As I walked out of the library thinking of my next step to start a new life in this world I was suddenly surrounded by a rushing crowd of panicking people.

As I tried to back up and escape the sudden crowd there was a rumble then screaming and the whole crowd turned into a fleeing riot.

I heard the ping of the system as I finally made it out of the crowd stepped into a back ally and looked at the white screen in front of me.

[Mission: Life in Gotham's shadow]

•Life in this city is hard and everyone must be just as hard to survive on the streets of Gotham for 4 days.

[Reward]

•Blades of Vengeance

-5,000- Gems

[Y/N]

As I read the mission something inside me utterly rejected the mission as the memories of Bradon Benjamin living on the Gotham streets flashed in my mind and immediately declined the mission.

But Just as I was beginning to think about what I should do next when another white screen appeared in my face with another mission.

[Mission: The Light in the City's Shadows]

•The life of a street Rat is not for you time to change things for yourself and become something more.

-Help in the current disaster that threatens the city of Gotham.

[Reward]

•Scarf of Dread

•Lose the Title: Gotham Street Rat

-5,000- Gems

[Y/N]

I went to accept the mission but hesitated as another rumble shook the area and a distant boom echoed off the buildings and from down the way people were running from.

"What am I getting myself into?" I asked myself as I accepted the mission and after looking at the panicking crowd I saw the nearby fire escape and smiled.
