1 The Beginning Of Everything

Have you ever wondered the potential of mortals, the things we could and could not do. Why gods are above and we are below? Why the demon, who was once an angel, became a fallen? Why do humans kill each other? Why do we belittle the weak and serve the strong? What happens after death?

Even I wondered all these things. But I wasn't able to find anything except that the answer lies in a place not in the reach of us mortals... not yet.

This limit was imposed on us by the so called gods of this world. The cruelty of the gods was so profound that ironically the world ruled by gods was hell itself.

But everything changed when I, Kazuya or otherwise known as the Monarch, reached the level of strength rivaling even gods.

I fought the gods head on with my mana, but the war caused a great burden on civilization. After the war, of the many gods only 9 remained, while we suffered a very heavy casualty of millions of people. They signed a peace treaty with me, that they will not interfere with the world of humans, on the condition that I will have to die for my people.

Naturally I was ready for this, they retreated from the war and left us to celebrate our independence and also mourn for our loses.

After all this I left everything and died in peace...

When I was alive, people used to say that I was a cold hearted and a very clever leader, who never had any weakness. That may have been true as I never had any relation with anyone, I struggled alone, I may have fought with other people by my side but I never actually fought for them but for my own grudge against the gods.

My strength was above many gods and on par with the strongest one's, some even compared me against the demon king who fought against gods in the past and named me the Monarch Of Mana.

As I was dying, I thought my legacy will end right here as 'The man who fought against gods'.

But right after death I met a strange old man, the god of death, looking right at me with eyes filled with sorrow, and from their I started my next journey...
