2 Chapter 2

We took to our heels and ran as fast as we could. Gosh! Were those black holes fast! And I could definitely feel that creature's piercing stare at our backs and I couldn't just get my mind off it. Had I just stood my ground, had I known, if only I'd just... 

I had been so occupied with my thoughts that I hadn't noticed that Dave wasn't with me. 

I turned back to him on the ground. He had apparently tripped over something and was trying hard to get back to his feet. Was he hurt? 

"Dave!" I exclaimed suddenly. Those black holes were gaining in on us! 

"Go on without me" 

"Are you crazy?!" 

"I will be alright; I can handle this. Now go on Lily, and don't stop!" 

"But..." 

"GO!" 

The taste of salty water touched my lips. The very sight of my best friend being dragged away from me into some other dimension was tearing my heart into pieces. No way this was happening. 

"I guess you should have thought before you leapt. Now surrender yourself and let this pass," the creature said in her low deep voice. 

I brought my eyebrows together with newfound courage. 

No, I wasn't going to give up so easily. "Ain't happening!" 

With that I plunged towards the black hole and hoped against hope that I'll be able to get a part of him before he could be sucked in completely. 

"No Lily! Go!" I heard his voice in an echo. That was it. 

I opened my eyes to find myself in some void dimension. Where was this? 

"Dave...Dave?" I called out but it was only my echo that was returned. What was this? Some kind of game? 

For a moment, I thought I was at an event horizon, only that I could move until I heard a voice echoing. 

"Lily!" 

I knew that voice! 

"Dave! Dave I'm here!" 

"Lily!" his voice echoed again 

"Where are you? Dave, I'm here! Dave?" 

Nothing. I was so close to tears. I felt so helpless. Why was this happening? 

Then I heard a laughter, and not a necessarily good one. 

"Why, hello dear"

It was her again. 

"Who are you? And what do you want from me?" I asked, my voice a little shaky. 

There was her mysterious laughter again. Then followed the formation of a glowing green mist out of which she appeared. 

"I am Madula..." 

"Well, that explains your madness," I muttered. 

"What was that?" she asked sharply. 

I shook slightly 

She gave me a strange look then continued, "As I was saying, I am Madula, a descendant from Medusa's family line, and as for what I want from you...," she paused and gave me an evil smirk 

"I've been watching you. I know where you've been...and I know the power you carry" 

What power? 

"All I ask," she continued, "is for that power, that great power you carry" 

"Excuse me?" 

"Child," she said walking toward me, "I just want us to do this the easy way" 

I raised a brow. 

"You see, I have chosen to be...lenient, which means I am more than happy to explore other options if I feel the kindness isn't worth the value" 

I drew my eyebrows together in puzzlement. 

"See, I have no commitment whatsoever as regards to the kindness such that I could jump off the kindness ship with such ease you would wonder if I was ever on board." she ended with a smirk. Then she turned her back on me as she walked some distance. 

I stared after her 

"What are you?" 

She looked back at me with an evil grin, "I'm your worst nightmare" 

Chills ran down my spine. I tittered nervously, "No, you...you can't be real" 

"Oh, I'm as real as the hole that swallowed your precious Dave..." 

"NO!" I cried, "You're just an illusion in my head. Let me be!" 

"How could I, child?" that evil smirk still on her face, "Your precious friend's still in my web" 

"Spider-woman?" I asked deliberately. 

She started to give me a death stare but in a hushed tone she said, "Shudder!". Then followed her mysterious laughter again. 

I narrowed my eyes at her as I felt a surge of emotions; mostly between rage and fear. 

"And you'd dare call yourself human!" I said in an angered tone. 

"No, of course I don't," she smiled slyly, "neither should you...I know who you truly are" 

I narrowed my eyes even more, shifting my eyebrows in confusion. 

"What?" I asked in a quiet voice.

"Drop the act kid, you're a special child and you know it" 

"What are you talking about?" 

"Your gift child! The powers within you...your added special abilities!" she said nearly shouting. 

Powers? 

"Madhula, or whatever you call yourself…" 

"Watch your tongue young lady," she said giving me a menacing look, "or you'd rather I help you shudder up every single piece of your spine!" 

My mind started racing but I just rolled my eyes at her. 

"You ain't scaring me with that" 

"Oh really? Don't get all confident so soon. Apparently, you don't even know much about your powers, so..." 

Her ponytail had been stretching down during her last sentence then suddenly, the live snake head at the end of her ponytail lashed at me, wrapping itself with the stretched part of the ponytail around me, pulling me toward Madula. 

"Would you like me to help you with that?" she asked sweetly. 

She seemed to have enjoyed watching me as I struggled to break loose from her grip then she released me with a spin. 

I struggled back to my feet, my head still spinning slightly. 

"No, thank you." I managed to get out, giving her back a menacing look. 

"Very well," she straightened up, "Since you have refused me what I ask, your Dave shall remain in my custody...and as for you," she paused for effect, that menacing evil smirk back on her face. 

"Your torture begins!" she said, laughing awfully evilly. "I will teach you the meaning of..." 

On saying "pain" to complete her sentence, she blasted a very bright neon green light at me. 

"Lily!!!" a voice echoed as I screamed as darkness sucked me up.
