finding the king

I filled Micah in as we made our way to the palace entrance doors. Pushing open the heavy iron doors we were welcomed with rows of royal guards lined up making a path to the royal carriage.

"Umm...What's this about?" Micah asked confused.

"Well if I had to take a guess the queen expects us to use the royal carriage for our journey." I sighed slightly irritated.

As we made our way to the carriage the royal footman opened the carriage door for us.

"We leave immediately m'lady."

"You're not coming." I told him flatly.

"But...." He interjected.

"You heard her, beat it." Micah smirked at him, climbing into the driver's seat and taking up the reins.

Snapping the reins we left him in the dust, although it was a little rude of us if I'm to go fetching for the queen I'll have no tag alongs.

"Did you see his face?!" Micah laughed out loud. He was enjoying himself, smiling at him I directed my attention to the small box in my lap.

"What's that?"

"This holds all the information about our soon to be king..." I mumbled opening the box and removing a small black and white photograph. Cameras were a new technology and only the rich had money enough to afford them. I held it gingerly, looking at Toraq. He was a handsome man, no older than 20. He had Blonde hair and captivating eyes. Hopefully he possessed more of the queens personalities traits than her other relatives. I shuddered as the memory of the king passed through my mind.

"What's wrong, love?"

"I was just thinking...hoping. I guess. About what Toraq will be like."

"Honey, I seriously doubt he'll be like Howard or Flora. I mean he's been hidden away from their influence."

"Yea you're right. I can't help but worry."

"Hey, why don't we find a nice campsite and watch the sunset together?"

"That sounds really romantic Micah." I smiled lovingly at him, I knew I couldn't give him what he wanted but he still made the effort to make me feel special.

He kissed my hand and snapped the reins to hurry the horses along.
