The Wolf and the Duke

In a trunk of a giant tree behind a mansion, a wolf and a litter of newborn pups lay comfortably.

Then far away, in a beautiful palace, maids were running around and away in a specific room, two people sat and held their child affectionately.

***

10 years later.

"Are you sure this isn't one of those elite's pups?"

"There's no elites with this fur."

"I wonder how much this little brat can make us."

"Hey, why are these weeds growing so fast?"

"This pup must be in the Melony pack."

"I'm getting sleepy, put it in the cage and let's sleep."

"Okay."

I woke up in the middle of the night in a cage, I quickly looked at my fur.

Thank Iris, I managed to change.

I see two people sleeping on beds, must be the kidnappers.

Dare to kidnap me and my people? Suffer death!

Purple worms formed on top of the two men, the worms went inside their mouth.

"When you have infected them, open this cage."

***

The same pup was whining and curled up in a Bush until a child with white hair and orange eyes found it.

"A beast?"

The pup jumped and started to growl even though it didn't look intimidating at all.

"I don't want to harm you, I just want to heal your wound."

"Heal my wound?"

The child jumped back in shock.

"You talk?!"

"Yes?"

"If so, come here."

The pup looked at the boy in annoyance and kept glancing at its leg which was stuck in a trap.

"Oh."

The boy safely took the pup's leg out of the trap and took the pup home.

"Young master, why did you bring in this bloody beast?"

"It's injured."

"Let me take care of it."

"But can I see it after you have healed it?"

"Of course."

The maid took the pup and walked away.

"Alest, what is this about you bringing in a beast?"

"It was injured!"

"The more injured a beast is, the more cautious and dangerous it is."

"But it was a pup!"

Ducere sighed, his son was too kind and naive.

The door opened and a maid with a pup came in.

"Young master, the pup's wound needs a little more healing but over all, it's good."

"Brother, you got us a pet?!"

"It's not a pet."

Two children excitedly looked at Rosa.

"It's aura is already so fierce and big when it's a pup."

"Father, can we keep it?"

Ducere looked at the faces of his children and saw Alest glaring.

"Well… It looks wild and since it's a pup, it probably has a family."

"Then let's find its family!"

"Tomorrow."

Ducere left the room and the children were playing with Rosa until a knight barged in.

The knight hurriedly picked up the two young children.

"Young master Alest, please follow me!"

Alest was confused about what was happening and quickly picked up Rosa, following the knight.

Alest heard the sounds of many spells and swords clashing, then he suddenly bumped into the knight.

"Young master Alest, please guide the others to safety."

Alest looked forward and saw a person in a white cloak, his brother and sister nervously looking at him.

He whispered to Rosa .

"Try to hold onto me tightly."

He took his arms off Rosa and grabbed his siblings' hands, leaving the knight and running as fast as he could.

He didn't know where to go but he knew to get away from the sounds of fighting.

He felt claws on his shoulders and heard a soft voice say.

"Stop, follow me."

He saw Rosa jumping down and running, he followed her.

She stopped at a door, then glanced at Alest, he opened the door.

They go inside the room and go under the double bed.

"This isn't a good enough hiding place."

Alest then saw some materials filling the gap below the bed where they were, the room was completely dark so he couldn't see what the materials were but he knew they were strong.

"Domain magic or elemental control…"

Since the bed was in the corner of the room, a gap had been made from the wall behind which made escape to another room possible and it was also for ventilation.

A few minutes passed and the sound of a door slamming was heard.

Rosa's hearing, sight and sensitivity to mana or aura was much better than humans so when she heard the door slam… she knew.

"Stay safe."

That was all what Alest hear before the sound of a spell forming, he hugged his siblings but didn't spot Rosa anywhere.

Then he heard many noises but finally a scream.

"Ah! Get off me, you mutt! No! n

No! No!"

Alest saw moonlight, which means that the gap is open now.

He went out first and what he saw was a girl who looked the same age as him, pink hair fading into white at the bottom, turquoise eyes that were shining in the moonlight.

When he carefully looked at the girl, bloody claws, wolf ears and tail, flesh in her mouth and a guy on the ground, dead.

The girl was panting heavily.

"Are you okay?"

The girl slowly walked towards him and fainted into his arms.

She turned into a pup and was sleeping peacefully.

The carriage had reached its destination.

"I thank you again for keeping my children safe."

Ducere smiled.

"I'll be in the carriage."

He walked to the carriage and entered it.

"Goodbye, thank you for saving us."

The siblings had solemn expressions but after a few minutes, only Alest wasn't in the carriage.

"Can I meet you again?"

"I'm not sure but if you are ever in my domain again or near me, you will have a feeling."

"Okay… well goodbye."

The pup disappeared into the forest.

***

6 years later.

A girl was watering flowers in a beautiful garden and a man suddenly appeared from a corner.

"Rosa?"

"Yes, brother?"

"Father has said to come to the hall."

"Okay then."

The girl stopped watering the flowers and went into a mansion.

When she reached the hall, a pack of wolves were looking at intently, she swiftly transformed into a wolf.

"I got a letter from King Abel from the Kingdom of Magusdios, he requested many packs to be in the yearly hunt, we were one of the few elite packs to be requested this year."

"It's rare for our race to be invited, what's the reason?"

"A lot of creatures with strong physical strength have emerged, many important people there have come with their children, including the king."

"Are we all going to go?"

"Yes, it'll be more of a vacation to Lenira though."

I smile at Lenira, a tan and white wolf with yellow eyes.

"The letter said to arrive 1 week before the hunt."

"Father, when did you get the letter?"

"There's less than 2 weeks left until the hunt."

The largest wolf, Eirwen, white and gray coat with turquoise eyes. He looked away from the angry eyes of his wife and children.

"Well, let's start packing!"

With his tail down, he walked away.

One, two and three. Everyone was angry and stressed but their species didn't have omegas to relieve their stress on, but they did have the culprit who caused the problem.

Eirwen was in his human form, walking to his office, soon he was pinned down by many wolves.

"Calm down…"

"You could have told us sooner!"

"Why am I the son of a useless father."

Many mean and cruel sentences were thrown until they had calmed down, which was only when bites happened.

 …

It would take 3 days to reach Magusdios by carriage, on the second day, I was starting to doze off until a sharp yelp pierced my ears.

"Lenira!"

"Huh? What's going on?! Who's hurt?!?!"

I asked the coachman to stop and immediately went to the carriage behind.

"Ash! What happened?"

"Lenira suddenly felt a sharp pain and fainted, the doctor is with her right now."

"Honey, what happened?!"

Soon our parents barged in and were told what was happening.

An hour passed and the doctor came out from the carriage behind.

"It seems the pups will come sooner than predicted, it's best that we arrive at Magusdios fast."

Ash, my brother, had a face so happy that he shined brighter than the sun.

Everyone else had worried faces.

"Why does everyone have such worried faces?"

The doctor sighed and explained that, both the doctors and mother and pups have higher chances of death since the birth is much earlier.

Ash had a sad expression but he lightened up a bit when the doctor said.

"Magusdios has one of the best medical help for pregnancies, if we manage to get there fast, the chances of death decrease."

Ash, my brother and husband of Lenira, had a face that shined brighter than the sun but everyone else had grim faces.

Ash noticed our expressions and asked what's wrong.

"Higher chance of death for both the mother and child."

The Iridian Kingdom

The home of canines.

The kingdom was founded by Iris, the land isn't natural and was made solely by Iris' mana and spells.

The land would have harsh sunlight that would set trees on fire, a terrible thunderstorm that destroyed everything, blizzards that froze all bodies of water and these happened daily!

Iris wanted the land to grow and be able to host living creatures, and so casted a mysterious spell.

Only a little sunlight that was just enough to let the land be in complete darkness was left.

She got a hundred wolf packs and gave five wolf packs immense mana, names and taught each pack different spells to control the weather, season or health of the land.

She let one of her magical beasts be the ruler to stop any fights.

The five families, Melony, Var, Xanthe, Aella and Thli.

Melony, responsible for making the mana of the land stable, also for fertility and vegetation of the land.

Var, responsible for winter, rain, water and clear night skies

Xanthe, responsible for making summer and letting in sunlight.

Aella, responsible for tornados, hurricanes, winds and the shield.

Thli, responsible for the kingdom. (citizens, economy, military etc.)

Many young ladies and many young men were chatting, showing off their beautiful accessories or showing off their weapons for the hunt.

Numerous carriages came.

White carriages pulled by white bulky deer with large antlers and blue eyes.

Men and women with cold but beautiful eyes came out of the carriages.

Then glamorous red carriages came from behind, pulled by beasts with three heads.

Men and women with slight smiles and amber eyes walked out.

From the sky, griffins pulling carriages flew down.

People with many different hair colours and eyes walked out.

From the darkest black to brightest blonde.

A loud roar came from behind the carriages.

Large and magnificent, tigers with black fur and golden stripes pulled carriages that all looked different and the only similarity were the emblems on the sides.

All the nobles were very interested as the beasts pulling the carriages were ones who either didn't live in the land of their kingdom or were very rare in their kingdom.

Since it wa

Black winged drakes with smooth scales proudly pulled black carriages.

But now, it was time for the elites to enter.

Only five carriages came.

They were much more lavish and strong than the others.

But only the coachmen were seen.

It was only after someone saw unfamiliar faces bowing to the king that they were noticed.

"Before the hunt begins, the rules and how it works shall be explained for newcomers."

The king himself was personally explaining which made some people question why.

"You will have to stay at your designated biome for at least a week, you can either hunt alone or with people. Since everyone's target is a little different this time, it's best that no killings of each other happen."

Even though the last few words were said innocently, everyone knew he was warning to not kill for personal reasons here.

A pure white wolf and a pitch black wolf ran towards a mountain covered in snow.

"Alice."

"Yes, Rosa?"

"It's getting late, we should find a spot to rest."

We ran around the mountain a bit and finally found a cavern.

We walked in but found it empty of any beasts and it had a small entrance but it was very big inside.

"Strange…"

"Alice, I sense a strange aura."

"Is it a beast?"

"Seems like it, we can just block off the rest of the cavern though."

"Are you sure that you want to stay here?"

"We barely saw any beasts near this cavern, it's probably the safest and most dangerous option."

"Was the aura hostile?"

"No."

"Let's stay then."

I look at the ground and vermillion vines grow out from the ground.

I look behind me and see an ice wall blocking the large cavern, which left us with a small spot between the wall and entrance covered by vermillion vines.

"Why fire?"

"You might be good with the cold but I'm not."

"Reasonable, what do you want to eat?"

"Can you choose instead?"

"Okay then."

Alice swiftly turned into a human and took utensils and ingredients from her backpack.

"Make a fire."

I turned semi-human and cut a piece of the vines, placing them on the ground and rubbing them against the ground, the vines went up in flames.

Alice and I chatted while she was cooking.

After a while, the food was finished, we quickly ate and Alice went to bed while I was setting up an alarm.

"Making animals formed by mana is much harder than plants…"

A transparent bird that camouflaged wonderfully in the night sky was the alarm.

I went to sleep in my beast form on the soft grass that had grown while we were eating.

Instead of a loud screeching or caw, roars and sounds of loud running woke us up.

"Huh?!?"

We felt our bodies turning stronger or rather more primitive, soon we lost consciousness.

***

It was morning.

We opened our eyes and saw the corpses of beasts and humans.

Suddenly feeling great pressure and hearing swords clash, we got up quickly and saw eight people fighting.

A headache formed in our head until there was something.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

Protect the eggs. Kill the intruders.

It was a repeating phrase.

Our body started to move on it's own and rushed towards six people.

While being hit by powerful spells and sharp swords, we surprisingly healed faster and were stronger than normal.

"Pesky dogs!"

***

"Rain?"

"Yes?"

"World S4243DP descendants are being attacked."

"What?!? Turn on perspective mode!"

A man with white hair and red eyes tapped a few icons on the floating screen.

"This is the 14th time this week!"

Another screen had popped up  and it was showing a battle.

"This will be a problem."

"I'm going to intervene."

"But isn't that too much?"

"Wait…"

Two people in the battle turned into gigantic beasts.

"They're basically dead now…"

The man sighed heavily.

"These two took a lot of time and mana and now they are being killed for no reason other than kingdoms thinking they are a potential threat."

Rain noticed something else moving on the screen.

"Is that one of the descendants of Iris?"

A malicious smile appeared on her face.

"Zach, tell Iris that I want two of her descendants."

Zach left the room and now there was only a girl with dark purple hair and red eyes so charming that you would think she was a succubus and not a dragon.

***

A woman with white hair that complimented the blue eyes that made you think she had never hurt a single thing, slept peacefully on a swinging bench.

A girl in maid clothing walked towards her and spoke in a low voice.

"Miss Rain wishes to have control of two of your descendants in world S4243DP."

Iris was still sleepy but got alerted at the mention of an S class world.

"Did she think that I would give them to her for free?"

"She sent this for the two descendants."

Pants made of pure white dragon scales and a hunting coat made of smooth grey dragon scales appeared beside the maid.

Iris couldn't help but smile.

"She really knows how much I love her dragon scale hunting outfits."

"Shall I send a letter of acceptance of the trade?"

"Don't make it formal, just give her ownership."

Both of the women headed inside a cave.

***

"I knew that she would accept!"

"Here's the book for both of them."

"Thank you, darling."

"Remember! Don't start a war!."

"I'll try!"

I wave goodbye to Zach and vanish.

***

We weren't as strong anymore and knew we were going to die, but suddenly immense pressure came from the dragon which made everyone stop.

The dragon morphed into a woman with purple hair and red eyes.

She walked towards us and snapped her fingers, and soon we could control our mind and body.

"Hello! I'm Rain, I have a deal for you two."

"W-what?"

"What's the deal?"

Although I tried to act calm for both me and Alice, my legs were going to break.

She forced us into our human forms and a sweet but cunning smile appeared on her face.

She shows three books and two eggs.

"In exchange for hatching and caring for these two eggs, I'll allow you to enter my bloodline and have these two books."

"What do you mean by entering your bloodline?"

A small bird appears on her shoulder.

She bites her index finger, blood comes out, the bird immediately drinks it.

The bird flies down to the ground, it grows larger and larger, its wings turn white and its eyes turn red.

"My husband and I mixed our bloodlines, the one to take care of the phoenix egg will naturally have the phoenix bloodline."

"What are the books for?"

"This book is for hatching and raising both the eggs, these two… are very special. Your future and past will be written here, although it will change if you go against the written future. The amount of the future that is revealed will progress as time passes, the more you change the future, the progress will decrease."

"I don't understand?"

"Imagine a war is happening and the book says you will lose after 1 year, you change so you win, now the book only shows the future of 8 months instead of 1 year. The severity of the change also matters."

"What are you?"

"In your terms, a goddess."

"What if we refuse?"

"Nothing, I'll just find someone else."

"Give us a reason to believe anything you say."

"Easy."

She snaps her finger again and the corpses of the beasts start moving, they seem to be revived.

"I still don't understand the two books."

"You will understand it eventually, I'll give you something to summon me for questions."

"What's in it for you?"

"I can't interfere physically if I don't have a descendant to take control of."

Then we heard loud clanking, six people in armor while running.

Rain started to move and managed to kill 3 but the others escaped.

"Damn, how much damage did this body take? So how about it? Yes or no?"
