3 Reborn

No longer blinded by light Gabriel could see a huge man, with dark brown hair and a beard, and a frail looking elderly woman. Babies were supposed to cry at birth, and so he did. Who wouldn't after going through all this?

"He looks just like you, Eldric" a warm beautiful voice sounded above him. Only now did he notice that he was in the embrace of a young woman in her late twenties.

This must be my mother, and the man at the bedside with the brown beard must be my father.

Yes, there was no mistaking it. It didn't take a genius to figure out the situation, and as someone who had witnessed many childbirths, he was also certain that the elderly woman was the midwife. You could see it from the look in her eyes.

I can understand them? That's a relief.

"My little Azriel, you are perfect just as i imagined you. You even inherited the marine blue eyes of your father. "

Great, so I even have a name now.

Gabriel who was now named Azriel, smiled to himself, a rare sight for someone who had spent years in the grueling trenches of his home world Earth.

Eldric Laughed.

"Great, you have my eyes and your mother's smile, a perfect little treasure."

This is such a weird situation. Just how does one expect to react. Luckily I'm still a baby.

Thinking back to the last moments of his pathetic life.

I really did all those things. The worst part is I don't regret it. They deserved it all of them.

Yes, the seemingly innocent smile from before that made his father so happy, wasn't that of a cute baby feeling loved in the warm embrace of his mother. No, it was a smile of madness. To live once again was an opportunity.

In this life things will be different, humans are greedy and evil by nature. There is no fighting it, no matter how much good you do in the world, the strong will always suppress the weak. I wasted and suffered my entire past life all for nothing, disillusioned by doing things for the greater good. Whether it was because, I was some supposedly saint angel sent to earth. I don't care. This life, I will live only for myself and my own desires. I deserve it after all those years in the trenches. To be at the peak, deciding my own fate while ruling over others.

The smile grew even wider, baby Azriel laughed.

In response to this, Eldric's beautiful marine blue eyes sparkled with happiness.

"Oh, Elara. I've never been this happy in my entire life. We are truly blessed."

Fool, who says I'm going to be playing happy family wasting my second life being a good boy. I will use you as a base for now, be honored.

[Failure. Something unexpected is happe...]

[The system is changing combining with the past life of host.]

[Welcome, to the 'Descent System'. The system can help you fulfil all your darkest desires. Do you accept?]

I completely forgot about this system. All my instincts tell me to stay as far away from this so called 'system'. But it did say I used to be a so called angel. I really was pathetic huh. And as a man of science, how can one not be curious? To fear something just because it's unknown, is setting my new life up for failure.

Despite, it seems like the intentions of the system aligns with my own. It might be of use, especially considering the super natural origins.

I accept. Let's see what this world has in store for me.

The sound of intense baby laughter filled the room. Bringing great joy to his new parents.

"Oh, What a joy."

[Understood, System assimilating. Beware you chose this path yourself.]
