Traveling Companions

It's been a few days now with the couple here at their home. It has been really nice overall, They are great conversationalists and were able to tell me a great many things I did not know before like how their magic works as well as give me a history lesson about the Vrac Empire.

On the opposite of that, it has been really awkward between me and all the other monsters and animals that had been living there. It's not like they had a spare room in their house or a couch that I could crash on. I am huge now and there was no way for me to go inside but from the window, it definitely seemed to be quite cozie inside. I ended up staying in the barn after they made some space for me which was very much appreciated. Last night was the first real night I slept with a roof over my head. I do not count the time I changed inside that tent, this is an honest-to-goodness roof right here.

Now back to my gripes about my bunk mates, all of them did not trust me at all, I have kept them all on edge for the few days I have been here just by staying near them. It is quite sad really, I did not mean to keep them awake by being "suspicious" or a "danger to their master", their words not mine. They are the people I am supposed to help why would I want to hurt them? They did not have the mental capacity to let my words roll around in their heads before they just outright labeled me as bad.

But yeah everything was great besides that. I was able to also have my first meal that had been cooked. It took a bit of convincing but I was able to get Alanda to make me some food since I had not eaten in I don't know how long but I just could not stand the smell that came from their house every day. I did not want just large uncooked meat but an actual meal. I thought that I could die happy after I eat what she prepared for me. If things continued like this then life would be really great.

All good things have to end sadly and today was that day because we were going to be heading to that mining town on the mountain about 2 day's journey from here. I have not even stepped out of the front gates yet and I am feeling apprehensive to leave this garden of Eden. It would be nice if I was still ignorant of everything then I would not need to go do this. I am saving lives though in the long run so it's good, it is good. Looks like it's time to leave.

Leaving their homestead and walking was uneventful, to say the least, the only thing that happened that made me raise a question was why did this meadow area only surround their home up to a point. The answer that I was given was that a sapling of the mother tree was planted in their garden and essentially blessed the land around it. Give or take a hundred or two years and there would be a forest here instead of just some rolling grass.

By the day's end, we had reached the mountains and set up camp at the trail leading up the side of the mountain face. I would not have minded traveling through the night but I was talked down on when I mentioned it. They told me that many of the giant folk that lives in these mountains travel during the night here and they are not so friendly to those they meet. If we were to encounter them we would need a peace offering of a lot of food or all the alcohol they usually take to sell. Of course, this is not always the case because there are wandering lone giant folk that has been cast out of their tribes and they can be dealt with but they said that you can never be too careful.

The next morning they packed up all their things and began the accent up. Back before we left I was curious about what season it was and they told me that it was nearing the end of fall soon and which made me very confused. Is it not supposed to be cold or something it showed no signs of it being so. In my head, I did not believe them at all and kept traveling up. Soon enough I got a rude awakening that they were right, it began to become really cold really fast at the one-hour mark then in the distance I could see snow drifts packing the sides of the path. I am a reptile and the cold is not to my liking apparently. I was in the lead and looking behind me I could see the couple pulling winter outfits from their bags. Must I suffer alone in this cold?

This raging cold kept up for the entire trip, it was torture. I am essentially walking naked in a blizzard I am not in one of course but with this wind that's pelting me, it sure does. We came to a fork in the road and something happened which surprised even me. From both sides of the path, two large shadows that stood over even me appeared stepping out from their hiding place behind the massive snow-covered foliage were two snow giants from what I could tell from first seeing them. They both stepped in front of me and the other two brandishing their crudely made weapons one being a club and the other a slag hammer.

In my head I hear "They are asking me to give up control over you to them, be ready for a fight. I will tell you when to go in" (Alana)

"Is there really no peaceful way to solve this I rather not fight if I don't have to"

"It looks like there is going to be no choice" (Alana)

When she said that the two giants' voices began to raise and they kept pointing at me.

Great I am going to fight for my life again . . . . . at least I have allies.

Another chapter another month, I tried something new this time trying to be a little faster and cutting down on the description please tell me what you think about this and if I should continue.
