1 Death

It was the year 2421 of the Eternal Calander.

A boy was standing on the railing of his school's roof. His face showed no expressions whatsoever. "This will be over. Once and for all." He thought to himself and jumped. *Thud* He felt himself hitting the ground, he smiled as started losing consciousness in a puddle of his own blood. "The pain... it's over now".

His whole life flashed before his eyes. He never knew who his parents were but he still had a family. The St. Louis Orphanage. He was one of the kids who was left in front of the orphanage. Father Maxwell and sister Mary were like his parents and all the other kids were like his siblings. He was happy and away from the hardships, in his own little world.

Until that one unfortunate day when the whole orphanage mysteriously caught fire. One moment everyone was happy and well and the next... the whole place erupted in flames. The little boy was the only one who got out of the burning orphanage and ran to the nearby village to call for help, But nobody took him seriously. He kept asking for help again and again but no one answered it.

The boy ran back there, crying, covered in black smoke. He tried picking up the fallen pillars to make a way for the people trapped inside to escape, but an 8-year old's strength was not enough for the task. He tried his best to push the fallen wood aside as he heard screams coming from the inside. The orphanage was very near the village. The smoke could be easily seen by anyone from that distance and yet no one came. It was as if... they wanted it to happen.

The little boy sat there, in front of the burned orphanage for two whole days until some soldiers arrived. They started cleaning the place and started throwing away the bodies like... it didn't even bother them at all.

The little boy was then taken to the City of Kishfire where he was sold to the McElfresh family as a servant. There he was whipped and beaten for everything, one mistake... whipped, asked for something... whipped, made someone angry... whipped.

For Six continuous years, he was tortured and beaten for things he didn't even do. He was treated like a slave and if anything went wrong, he was the one to be blamed for.

One day he found out that his application was approved and he was selected as a student at Lawrence Academy. He took whatever he had and ran away from the McElfresh estate. Upon reaching Kishfire, he entered the academy grounds and enrolled himself. He thought his nightmare had finally ended, but to his horror, it hadn't.

His approval at the Lawrence Academy was just a mistake and what's worse was that they found out that he had no affinity for any magic. The same loop started once again and it continued again and again and again and again and... again.

He had enough. Enough of everything. He smiled one last time, thinking about the few good memories he had.

Strangely, he opened his eyes, stood up, and looked at himself. No blood, no pain, no emotions. He looked around and saw that he was in a dark place, no source of light yet he could see clearly, no water anywhere yet he was hearing the sound of water dripping and no life yet he felt fully alive.

He started looking here and there frantically, trying to find an exit but all he could see was an endless abyss.

"Daniel Wolferd" he heard a voice behind him. Daniel turned around and saw a man sitting on a chair. He was a young adult with a well-built body, silver hair, and crimson red eyes. He looked at Daniel and chuckled. "You are weak, kid!" The man said looking at him.

"Who are you and what is this place?!" Daniel asked horrified, not knowing what was happening to him. "Hahaha!" The man just kept laughing, not answering a single question that Daniel asked.

"Stop Laughing and Answer me, You Bastard!". "You want answers, you need to find them on your own" the man stopped laughing and answered, with a cold expression on his face. "Let me ask you one simple question. Do you want power, do you want the strength to show everyone what you are, do you want to show them what you can do?"

Daniel kept standing there silent. Not knowing what to do or say. "Answer me, kid, Do. You. Desire. Power?" He asked once again looking at him, his crimson eyes piercing into his soul.

"Yes. I do"
