When it rains, it pours

Apparently just like the saying goes 'when it rains, it pours' when it comes to bad news, good news also seemed to be something that didn't come alone. As the good news of this period didn't stop within the borders of England. Just days after Jason's graduation, a happy message came from across the waters about how another addition to Jenny's family would be made. This was in the form of her very first sister-in-law as her oldest brother had decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend.

She was a girl Jenny had only met a few times since the start of their relationship but Jenny had grown quite fond of her despite their limited acquaintance. So, when Jenny heard the news of her brother's upcoming nuptials and of her becoming part of her family, she couldn't be happier. Wanting to be a good sister and a good sister-in-law, Jenny tried her best to be of help to the wedding planning and the preparations for the big day. Especially with her being the only one in their family of five to have gone through all of it before. Though deep inside she had to admit that more accurately it had been Jason who had been through it all before, as she had fairly little to do with all that took place before the actual day, but she did not let that stop her. Despite her credentials being based on the work of her now husband, she was most willing to go through it all now for the two of them. Adding a big load to her already busy schedule.

With each task that was added to the already long list of things to do, her already full plate became even more full. However, no matter how full her plate got, she did it all with love and enthusiasm. It did help that she had a very loving husband, who couldn't bare seeing her having a tough time or struggling in any way. Making it impossible for it to become too much to handle and allowing all the preparations to run smoothly despite it being such a big event. On some days, even before she had the chance to worry about certain tasks, she would find out that he had already taken care of it. On other days he would need more of a que to step in. As he did not want to take all of it out of her hands and robbing her of the experience in the process. However, she could bet on it that whenever he heard a single sigh escape her mouth, he would take whatever she was working on at that very moment and would fix it for her or show her how she could solve that particular matter herself. Thus making Jason her most wonderful helper and supporter in this huge project she had taken on.

Just like that she managed to keep up with all her responsibilities and once the big things were taken care of, there were only the small things to pick out. Since, her sister-in-law to be had very little interest in all the wedding matters, she had entrusted almost all responsibilities to Jenny. Only telling her what she liked and which things she wanted to pick herself, leaving all other things to her, much like a free wedding planner. No matter how much her friends and other brothers criticized her for this, Jenny didn't mind it all that much and enjoyed performing these tasks. Seeing it al as a once in a life time experience. One she had mostly missed out on when it concerned her own wedding. So, to her it was a chance to let her see all that Jason had taken care of for their wedding and how much work it all must have been. Finally replacing her general idea of back then with an actual experience of going through it in person, which was much different.

At first all of it had been a bit overwhelming. The seemingly endless list of matters to decide on, with the added pressure of it being someone else's wedding and therefore having to take in account what they would like, instead of basing things solely on her own preferences. But with each decision it became a bit easier, as all the matters to decide on were connected one way or another. So, when she looked at the whole as a puzzle, where each piece should fit the other surrounding pieces, things became easier.

After a few weeks of wedding planning, even little Charlie got swept up in her enthusiasm. He would help her pick whatever was on the list for that particular moment or day. He would do so whenever Jenny was working on wedding matters when he was nearby or when he was sitting on her lap, which was his favourite place to sit every time she had finished a late shift the day before and he hadn't gotten a chance to see her before he went to sleep. Not completely surprising, he was quite skilled at picking the right colours and designs. Though at first Jenny was just involving him in the decision making for a bit of fun but when she saw that his picks were actually quite good, she figured Susan's eye for these things must have rubbed off on him during their one-on-one playdates. Causing the wedding planning to become a mother and son activity whenever Jason would have a long day at the office and they had some time alone at the house. Using her smart, intuitive boy as a fine replacement for his paternal grandmother and his father as her much needed helper!
