Violet

It was something that she should have done a long time ago. It was something inevitable, but it seemed that fate had chosen to make it sooner rather than later. This fight that Jenny got involved in was something that had started with her and it should end with her as well. There was no need for the next generation to get involved in it. At least not any more than they already had. The fight stemmed back from the days when she met Stephen. When she got to know him and fell in love. Back when he was Elizabeth's mother's, Violet's, fiance. Violet and Stephen had been arranged to marry one another by their parents. The Westwood empire was nothing more than a single company back then, wanting to expand. For that they needed funding, a collaboration and they had found that with the Jones family, Violets maiden name. Even more so than today, these collaborations were sealed with a long term connection, a marriage. In this case that of the then thirteen year old Stephen and the twelve year old Violet.

Violet, much like many other wealthy young ladies, was brought up with the thought that she should be a gentle, refined, lady. That she didn't need to work hard, but just focus on looking pretty and being a good host for the day that she would become someone's Mrs. When she finally got a face and name to go with that Mrs. title, she agreed immediately. Back then Stephen didn't have anyone he liked and had in fact never fallen in love, so he was fine with marrying for financial reasons. That was until he graduated from junior high and went to high school, where he met the tomboy Susan. Stephen had gone through life up to that point feeling numb. Following the path his parents had set out for him. No obstacles, no challenges. Everything had been taken care of including who he should marry, which he agreed to without even opening the folder with her picture and within a week he was engaged. But with him being a year older than Violet, he went onto high school a year earlier than her. This was where the disruption of his so calm and structured life began and his peaceful days ended.

It is when you look at these encounters that you can see clearly that blood is thicker than water as Stephen fell for Susan at first slap. Though their road was a bit longer as Susan started out as Stephen's classmate. She was a bit of a rebel and would get into fights every day, a trait she had passed down to Jason. She would come to school with cuts, bruises and a disheveled uniform which got her reprimanded by the teacher. She was everything but your typical young lady and it was this that caught Stephen's eye. Where he was first oblivious to her existence, he slowly grew more aware when they became desk mates. What started as annoyance, turned to hate when the person who Susan got into a fight with became Stephen himself. Susan glaring asked him what he was looking at and turned his lunch upside down on his table, right on his notebook. After that day Susan would use a different method each day to mess with Stephen. Thinking he was nothing but a boring robot. A precious little heir and a goody two shoes. And telling him to live a little. But whoever has ever seen a romantic movie or read a romance novel knows that there is a very thin line between love and hate.

One day when Stephen was walking the halls while reading his book, Susan came running down that same hall. With neither of them paying attention to where they were going they bumped into each other and Stephen fell onto Susan, his lips landing on hers. Stephen being as numb and unfeeling as he was, didn't think much of it until he saw Susan's face as he was getting up. The fierce tomboy had a face as red as a tomato and tears were welling up in her eyes, that she was desperately trying to fight back. The moment he saw this he felt a sharp sting in his heart. But before he had the chance to process that feeling it was accompanied by a stinging slap across the face as she said "How dare you kiss me you dork. That was my first. I will get back at you, you stupid robot. Just watch me!" and ran away. With that the thin line was crossed. Stephen stood there frozen to the spot with his hand on his face, covering the warm hand print left by Susan and a rapid heart beat.

After that day Stephen did whatever he could to spend time with Susan and make her forgive him. Once he had her forgiveness he moved onto trying to gain her interest and her heart, forgetting he was already spoken for. Susan, unaware of him having a fiance, slowly started to fall for his charms and it wasn't long before she too was in love. By the time Violet came to join Stephen in high school it was already too late to stop what had been set into motion. Stephen and Susan were inseparable. That was until the first day of their second year when Violet came to find Stephen because he hadn't come to visit her at her classroom on her first day. Without any warning Susan was awoken from her dream by witnessing Violet running down the halls of the second year classrooms and throwing herself in the arms of an unsuspecting Stephen. She dropped the lunches that were in her hand, which she had just bought from the canteen and made a U-turn. When Stephen saw Susan run away and became aware of what she had witnessed, he pulled Violet loose and ran after her.
