Undivided attention

Jenny looked at the guy in front of her, who was looking at his phone as he enjoyed his drink and she decided to flirt a little to pass the time. Jenny got up from her seat and switched to the chair next to Jason, catching his attention. He was in the middle of a game on his phone, so he was still facing the screen. Testing his endurance and ability to focus, she sat down and started running her fingers through his hair, while looking at him. This earned her a chuckle from Jason. She went on to put her head on his shoulder and feed him small pieces of her blueberry muffin, as she continued to stare at him. Jason found it harder and harder to focus on his game, but didn't want to give in to her just yet. He knew that half of this flirting came from being bored. Once they would be on the plane, she wouldn't give him the time of day, so he wanted her to work for his attention. His lack of reaction didn't make Jenny stop, but made her even more determined. So, she wrapped her arms around his neck and started placing soft kisses on the side of his face. One, two, three. Each kiss breaking down his determination like a sledgehammer pounding on a brick wall. Breaking its foundation bit by bit to make it crumble. And just like the wall, he broke after the fifth 'strike'.

Luckily, he had just cleared the level he was working on, when he turned his stern looking face slowly to the side. "What.." He said with a cold voice, trying to appear annoyed. But with a clearly suppressed smile, he wasn't fooling anyone, especially not Jenny. She played along by hiding behind her fingers and peeking through the openings as she sported a cheeky smile. Innocently she replied "What do you mean 'what'? I wasn't doing anything, was I?" "Oh, we are playing that game, are we? Very well, I will play along." Jason leaned back against the back rest and placed his hand on his closed hand. With focussed eyes and a small smile, he looked in Jenny's direction as he said "Go ahead. Now you have my undivided attention." With Jason's eyes on her every move, Jenny was unable to do anything to him anymore. At first, she didn't let him staring bother her, but slowly she started feeling awkward. As she sat there under Jason's watchful eye, she started looking everywhere but in his direction. In just a few minutes the teaser had become the teasé.

Jason chuckled at seeing how quickly she gave up and put his arm around her neck to pull her back. He placed a kiss on the top of her head. He had just let the slightly blushing Jenny go, when the announcement came that their flight had started boarding. The both of them got up and grabbed their things before walking the few feet to the entrance of the gate. They stood in line with Jason's arm resting on her shoulders and her playing with the fingers of his hand hanging in front of her body. After handing the steward their tickets, they headed for their seats in the VIP-section and put their stuff away.

Once they were seated, Jenny grabbed the thin complementary fleece blanket and placed it on their legs. She snuggled close to Jason and opened up her newly bought book. Though the weather outside was fine, the inside of a plane always seemed to be very chilly. She had changed into a knee-length dress in the car and was afraid her legs would get cold. Seeing Jason's tired eyes, she had a feeling that he would be using the flight for a nap, so she shared the blanket with him. Jason was indeed quite tired from staying up late playing games and saw Jenny's actions as a sign that it was okay for him to not spend this time with her, but rest up instead. So, he grabbed his earphones and plugged it into his phone to listen to some music and rest his eyes.

He placed one earpiece in his ear and the other in Jenny's after which he put his arm around her and laid his head back. Slowly they too were heading to the state of understanding each other's needs, without the need for words and being fine with just sitting next to each other and doing nothing. Just enjoying each other's company and their same taste in music. Though this wasn't necessarily the first time this happened, in their daily life it wasn't so obvious, because there were many other people and activities surrounding them, breaking the silence. The silence that can feel awkward for new couples, held a safe and comforting feeling for those that were together for longer than the initial exciting stage. Though both Jenny and Jason were still able to make each other feel butterflies, the uncomfortableness around each other, mostly on Jenny's part, had unknowingly dissipated over the time they had spent together. Making her naturally sit in Jason's arms, regardless if they were in public or private. This made an unconscious smile appear on Jason's face.

The hour-long flight went by in no time and soon they had landed on Schiphol airport. Jenny closed her book and nudged Jason awake, who had dozed from a 'resting his eyes' to a full fledge nap. This proved how tired he had actually been. He stretched himself and got up so that they could both get off the plane. They headed for baggage claim and while Jason looked out for their bags, Jenny gave her brother a call so he could head for the airport and pick them up. They would drop off their bags at the hotel and head straight to Jenny's mom's house, where a large festive dinner would be waiting for them with all of Jenny's favourites!
