Under the radar

"Well, you should have noticed by now that my father doesn't head to the office everyday. For years I thought he had started working from home and still didn't bother showing up when I needed him or to spend some time with his only son. But when he showed me this passageway I discovered another part of the truth. Though you might not know it, he is at work everyday. Sometimes using the car to arrive at the office, at other times sending an empty car and sometimes not bothering with a car at all and using this sky bridge to go to the office without a decoy car keeping people distracted. He switches it up regularly so his schedule remains unpredictable.

He does this so he can show up at all hours to keep people on their toes but also so that he can keep an eye on the rats of the family without them noticing. When they think he isn't in, they try all kinds of things to set him up. Things he can intercept because they don't know they are being watched, making them become careless. And last, because in the past, when my father hadn't been appointed to his current position, they would try all kinds of crazy tricks to keep him from arriving at the office and attend important meetings. Now, they can't figure out when he will leave the home, when he will show up to the office or if he will show up at all. He has a private elevator that leads to his office, which doesn't make it weird for him to show up without them seeing him arrive through the main entrance. The decoy cars make sure there is a time stamp of him arriving. That way they can never know for sure whether he is telling the truth. Plus, who would think he would have something like that?" Jason asked as he pointed at the practically invisible pathway.

"All this is to make it all the more difficult for them to sabotage him or plan things to bring him down, which is how my father has managed to keep his position for so long and remained unscathed. In those years he has collected a lot of evidence on a lot of those that have been acting up and once I join him, we can start pulling out all of the weeds from the root. When I first thought of the plan to rid our family of this corruption, I though my father was part of the problem. But because of you I have been able to change my view of him and have actually discovered that he wants the same thing as me.

He was simply waiting for me to grow up so he can have another ally, one that he can trust 100% and one that can move through the company as freely as he can. Who better than his own son. But for that I needed to fulfill his expectations and become a candidate for the CEO position on my own. Only then would he know that I would be able to handle that responsibility and have the ability to successfully carry out his plan. What he wants is to become even more invisible. By making them shift their focus from him to me, we will be able to lure out the more quiet ones as well. The ones that are smarter and therefore more cunning. You see, he has everyone followed. From the lower staff till the higher ups. Anyone that has a connection with the family has been bugged and monitored. With my software that will become even easier. Freeing up time to cast an even wider net. By provoking everyone all together we hope to make people that have stayed under the radar until now to start acting as well. This way we can catch those that operate from the shadows and put an end to all of this scheming once and for all."

Jason grabbed both of Jenny's hand as he told her about the rest of the plan. "If we succeed, this will allow me to reach my goal a lot faster than I had initially thought and would also mean that the crazy, hectic life, will last only a year instead of at least two years. That is why I will do my very best to make this plan succeed and for that I have to change a few things and let go of a few things. So, once I start my work at the headquarters I will probably seem like a different person to you. I will have to change in order to survive and protect you. I will cast away all the kindness I built up during the time I have spent with you and return to the ruthless person I was before I met you. Only now I have a clearer goal and people to help me, which will help me achieve it all the more quickly. This is necessary for me to climb up and complete the plan with the least number of casualties.

During this time you won't be able to visit me as freely as you have probably been imagining because that might make them doubt me and my change. So, since you won't be able to visit me out in the open. I want you to be able to visit me when you miss me or need me. For you, I will take off that mask and be the Jason that you know. But outside, I won't be able to do that. Not even on campus. Because I cannot afford to show a sign of weakness. Not just for me and my father but for your sake as well."
