Unconditional love

Meanwhile Jason was trying to keep himself from keeping his hopes up, but caught himself getting disappointed when he only saw Garry and a line of servants to welcome him by the door. He knew then that his parents weren't home again. Had he learned nothing. Hadn't it been like this for years. No one to greet him. No one to have dinner with. No one to care about his well being. Why was he allowing them to hurt him after all these years, just because they had been home more these past couple of weeks. Before that his parents were never there. The only ones to show him some care were the staff and good old Garry. But, despite knowing Garry from the day he was born, he knew that he was being payed to be there for him. Jason now was disappointed in himself. In just a matter of days he had gone back to the way he was in the past. Wondering if his parents cared about him at all. Wondering if he had pushed them too far this time. Hoping that if he came home on time, behaved and got good grades, his parents would give him some attention. But it hadn't worked back then, so why would it work now. He showed a sad smile and his eyes couldn't look more lonely. All of this did not escape Garry's watchful eye and he sighed as he watched his young master go up the stairs to lock himself in his room once again.

As Jason laid on his bed, he started thinking back on how things used to be and how things had changed over the years. How he had changed over the years. It had been for many years now that Jason had sat at that dining table alone. Whenever he did see his parents, they were on the phone or behind a laptop screen. Someone was always more important, something else always came first, there was always something that could not wait till another time or day. Jason remembered that he slowly decided not to care and closed off his heart. This was to prevent himself from getting hurt. Getting hurt each time his parents weren't there for him, not for the good things and not for the bad. Jason remembered how they promised him time and time again to do better, and every time they broke that promise. Even though they kept telling him that they were doing it for him and their family, he couldn't help blaming them for the choices they were making. Blaming his parents for never choosing him. Why did they have him if they weren't going to pay him any attention. They only used him as a pawn to improve their relationship with other important business holders, by having him become friends with their sons or having their daughters fall in love with him. Now that they had become the biggest company in the business and had expanded to other fields, people were coming to them and they didn't even need him for that job anymore.

Slowly his eyes started closing and he fell asleep. In his dream he recalled better times. The time when his grandfather had not retired yet and the company wasn't as big as it was now. Back then his parents weren't so busy. He saw his father surprising him from behind and pushing him on the swing. He saw his mom baking a cake for them on a Sunday afternoon. He saw them celebrating his birthday all by themselves. These were the times he was truly happy. It all changed at his grandfathers 60th birthday. After a long battle within the family, his father had won. He became the acting president and had to put in the hours. His mother had to take over the school and helped his father to expand the company in her free time. He awakened from this nap and sat up in his bed. He saw a picture of his sixth birthday. It was a picture with him and his parents around the cake his mother had made for him. This reminded Jason what he was looking for, unconditional love. The kind of love parents usually have for their children. He wanted someone to care for him without other ulterior motives. Something he had only seen in a few people since his father became the president. Little did he know that he was to meet the person he had been waiting for in a matter of hours.

I decided to reveal a bit of jason's past and how he has become the way he is now. The next chapter will show a bit more and as promised today I will finally let them meet. But every time I start writing the scene of how they met, I kept finding other things I wanted to tell to make the story more of a whole. So I have written more introducing chapters than I had intended, but I am determined to at least reach that point today.

This chapter took me a long time to write. The most time so far in fact. This was mainly because I wanted to show his scars, but not make him seem like your typical bad boy who did not get enough attention XD. I hope the next chapter will add more dept to him.
