Trust

Jason was taken by surprise by this question. This was the first time someone tried to be mindful of his wishes with regards to getting to know someone. There were only two things to come to mind. "I don't really have rules. At least not for you. I do however have two requests. First, though I have had my fair share of bad experiences, I do not want people to pity me for it. I have become the man I am today, because of those experiences. Some things are for the better and some for the worse, but regardless, I have become a stronger person for it." Jenny nodded after hearing this. She too hated it when people looked at her like a charity case or looked at her with sadness because she had grown up without a father and didn't come from a wealthy family. These experiences had thought her lessons about life, that were most valuable. "Second, during the period that we are getting to know each other I would like you to give me the full benefit of a doubt and only believe what you hear from me directly. I have few friends and many enemies. Though I will do my best to not create any doubts in the first place, but that is not something I can guarantee won't happen for the rest of my life. So if you hear something, see something, wonder about something, just ask. If you don't like my answer, then you can judge away. Before that however, I would like to ask you to disregard your own assumptions and the lies people might feed you."

This was a difficult task for Jenny, because she wasn't one to trust someone easily. With her you had to earn your trust, but once you had gained it, she would trust you with her life. That is until the moment you show her that the trust was undeserved. Then it is something that cannot be regained. She had never let someone she had cut out of her life, back in. She had been this way since childhood. So for Jason to ask her to trust him without any foundation, she was doubtful she could give him her word. So she decided to be honest. "I think there can be no trust without honesty, so I am going to be honest with you. I have no trouble accepting your first request, but I am a person who believes trust should be earned. So, I can promise you that I will try to trust you, but I cannot guarantee that it will be full trust from the get go. I am not one to believe in mindless gossip, but if I should see something myself or if you give me reason to doubt you by your own behavior, then I am forced to believe myself over you. To compensate I can promise that I will always give you a chance to give me your side of the story. If not straight away, after a few days of cooling off. I will listen to your story with an open mind and I will use each day to look at you and your actions properly, so that i can grow my trust in you as fast as possible. How's that?"

To that Jason stuck out his hand grabbed hold of Jenny's hand. They sealed their agreement with a handshake. As they looked each other in the eye with content of how the situation was solved, Jenny's stomach finally could not handle the lack of food anymore. It let out a loud grumble. Jason could not help but fall over and laugh at Jenny, while holding his stomach. This laughter did not last for long, because soon after his stomach let out an even louder grumble. Silencing Jason immediately. He coughed awkwardly before saying, "I guess that is our cue to head back. Our mothers should be at their limits of curiosity as well. At least I am sure my mother is" He quickly stood up from the grass, helped Jenny up from the tree trunk and they walked towards the two mothers. They were still waiting patiently while talking away as they saw their children walking towards them with a smile. Soon both mothers had been filled in on the good news and they headed back to the mansion with full speed. It was finally time for them to return to the house and have something to eat!

Finally! This part is done. It was really hard meeting and confrontation to write about as it defines a big part of the story to come. Now the getting to know each other can begin. The first part will go by in a flash, so we can spend time learning about the more important parts. Look forward to it! As I have a long day ahead, I will be signing out for tonight, but tomorrow is Friday already! This means weekend and more time for writing.

Till then, enjoy these two chapters and let me know what you think!
