True intentions

Jason who had witnessed the final moments of the interaction between Max and Jenny, found himself to be pretty annoyed how far the 'pesky fly' had come in such a short time. He had come to see if they were almost finished and ready to go home and instead got a show that made him even more convinced that Elizabeth's warning proved true. This guy was up to no good and he had to stop this before things got too far. He walked in and pretended like he had seen nothing as he greeted Jenny. "Are you ready to go Jenny?"

Jenny did not know that Elizabeth had told Jason about the contents of her talk with Max. She wasn't even aware that Elizabeth herself knew. So, when she felt the air of hostility come from Jason's presence, she did not think that there was any more reason to it than their usual unfriendliness towards one another stemming from Jason not liking any other men around her other than her family and those they both considered friends. And even with them it was more of a tolerance than a like. "Yes, let me grab my things and then we can go." She goodbye to Max and walked out with Jason, who gave him a menacing glare before closing the door behind them to let Max know that he was watching him. Though Max felt chills going up and down his spine and felt unable to move for a moment after receiving that glare, it did not stop his intentions of moving forward with his plan as he too thought that it was his usual dislike and was convinced that no one knew his true intentions.

The fake peaceful days didn't last for long as secrets always have a way of coming out and so did the one that Jenny thought she was keeping. Things came to blows the day of before his grandfather's birthday. Jenny still hadn't told him about the help that Max had offered her nor of her plans of getting a job and with Max inching forward with each day that passed, Jason became tired of waiting. So, when they were sitting in their room, Jason confronted Jenny. "Jenny, I didn't want to have to bring this up, because I wanted to give you the chance of telling me about it yourself. But I have been waiting for two weeks now and since nothing has been brought up by you, let me be the one to allow you to tell me what you have been keeping me for too long."

Jenny was startled. Feeling caught her cheeks instantly coloured crimson and her eyes widened. As she had been keeping more than one secret lately, she did not know which one he was referring to, but it didn't matter. She shouldn't have been keeping a secret from him to begin with. It had caused problems between them once before and now it was about to do so again. Jenny sighed deeply. She mumbled to herself with a hushed voice, "When will I learn that regardless of my intentions, it isn't right to keep things from the ones I care about because they will come out one way or another. And when it does, I have no one to blame but myself." Before she looked back up to Jason and came clean. "I don't know which secret you are referring to, but that is my fault, because that means that I have been keeping too many and for that I am sorry. I don't think it will make up for it, but I will tell you everything now."

She sat down next to him and said, "It started with me wanting to surprise you for your birthday. You have done so many wonderful things for me and given me so many beautiful gifts that at the very least on your birthday I wanted to be the one to surprise you. Especially considering I didn't give you anything last year and managed to receive not one but two gifts myself on that day. A few weeks ago I found the perfect gift, but it was quite expensive. Though it would be nothing for you and I could use the card you gave me to buy it without any trouble, I wanted to buy my first gift for you with my own means." While telling the story, Jenny would glance at Jason every now and then to see his reaction, but Jason listened to her calmly without making any sound at all. All the while holding her hand for comfort and courage. Something she didn't feel she deserved, but much needed.

"So, I used the card as a guarantee and paid off the majority with what was in my savings from back home. But sadly it wasn't enough and I was still short a part of the amount. For that I planned on getting a job. I had been searching for a job that would pay well and that you would approve, as I wanted this gift to make you happy and not cause you reason for worry. After searching for two weeks I found nothing until Max offered me a job at a place where he was working. I didn't accept his offer. I wanted to think about it and I planned on rejecting it or at the very least consult you about it first, until Elizabeth advised me against it. Saying that I shouldn't even consider the job because she too thought that Max had feelings for me. Not wanting to believe it, I decided to confront him. That is where secret number two comes around..."

Here we are with chapter number two. I hope you enjoy and I will be back here tomorrow with a brand new release!
