True colours

Nick, who had turned around when Jason did and saw Jenny standing a few feet behind him, had started chasing her the moment he saw that Jason didn't start running. Though he knew that she couldn't have heard what Jason had said, she surely had seen what he had done and had probably heard whatever nonsense Max had been spouting. No matter how you looked at it, this was looking bad. Convinced that his friend was probably struggling to figure out what to do, he ran after Jenny to do some damage control. Hoping to give his friend some time to settle his matters and think of what to say. Besides, maybe Jenny would be more willing to hear it from him at this moment then from Jason himself. Even if it wasn't the case, he had to try at the very least.

At the time Nick was doing whatever he could, keeping Jason updated at all times, Jason was still entangled with Max. Max, knew he was out of hearing distance, so he didn't need to keep the act up. He scoffed and with a pained expression said, "Or else what? You will beat me up? You will hurt my family even more? We both know you won't do that, because the moment you do she will know it was you and you will send her straight to my arms. So, you can choose, do you want revenge or fix your mess with Jenny." Showing Jason a taunting smile.

Knowing what he said was true, Jason felt even more anger from the current situation he was in. He couldn't believe that he had fallen into this obvious trap. He should have know better. After shoving him against the wall once more Jason said, "I might not be able to hurt you now, because Jenny is protecting you, but that might not last forever. So, you had better pray that she never sees your true colours, because the moment she does, your protection is gone and my real wrath will be unleashed. And at that point, you will truly know what it means to have angered me. So watch your back!" After saying that he let go of Max and walked away. Surprising everyone surrounding them. They never expected that Max would get out of that situation alive, let alone with just a bruised back and no broken bones or anything. Whispers filled the hall once more as Jason walked to find Jenny.

After being let go Max fell to the ground and felt shivers all over his back along with a stinging pain. He might not have broken anything, but the force Jason had used, had definitely been enough to bruise him and some of his ribs. Now that the adrenaline was gone, he started to realize the full extent of his actions. Though he had been cocky before, he too knew that he was no match for Jason. This had been pure luck and the moment his luck would run out, he would be facing some very scary times. If the thought of the consequences of his actions wasn't enough to instill a huge amount of fear into him, looking into Jason's intimidating, soul sucking eyes was. He had been forced to stare into them for too long to remain unaffected. The vast darkness of his pupils made one feel that they could see the grim reaper himself along with all his victims. The sharp blue, made you feel like you are drowning in them, as if he was able to pull you into the open sea with those eyes. But there was no turning back from what he had said and done. Now that he had started this mess, he needed to take it as far as he could to make it worth it. He tried to shake off the tremors in his hands that revealed his fear and he stood up carefully. Being supported and surrounded by the other students that came to his aid the moment Jason left.

When Jason had started going after Jenny, he had no clue where to start. He figured that Jenny probably didn't want to be found right now, so she wouldn't go to her usual spots. Nick did start running when Jenny did, so maybe he had chased her and knew where she was right now. He recalled that his phone had buzzed a few times when he had Max pressed against the wall. Those might have been messages from him. Hopefully Nick had indeed gone after Jenny and had caught up with her. If he had, then he would surely have sent him a message with their location, as any true friend would. When he grabbed his phone he saw that he had multiple messages.

He unlocked his phone and saw that he had indeed received messages from Nick, but they weren't all from Nick. There was one from Julia. It had been sent shortly before that whole mess in the hallway started. When he opened the message Jason's anger rose once more, but this time his anger was directed at himself. If only he had read that message, then things wouldn't be so bad right now. He could have explained the rumours to Jenny who had gone looking for him for answers. If only he hadn't allowed himself to be provoked so easily, regarding Max's words as nothing more than a dog barking. He knew that that guy was a sneaky fellow. Why didn't he consider the possibility of it being a trap, when a sneaky guy like that started something so openly. But right now there was no time for 'ifs' and 'buts', with that he hurried over to the place in Nick's message.

Here we are with the first chapter of today. The second one might be postponed till tomorrow, because I have a busy schedule today and I don't want to rush this and make mistakes. I will try later this evening when I return, but if I fail, sunday will have three chapters and will guarantee double releases for the remaining days!
