Throwing oil onto the fire

While Jenny stood in the middle of the room still wondering what had gotten him so upset. One of the things his secret company dealt in was computer chips. So, when the school needed an upgrade of their system, they unknowingly had hired his company. He had been in charge of all the technological systems and products the school used to this day. Including the software that opened and locked the doors inside the school and the badges that controlled it. When he had the badge of his mother made, he made his own badge with the same level of clearance. Which made it possible for him to open and lock all doors in the school, including this one. He had chosen the music room, because not only was the entire room soundproof as well, but unlike the other classrooms it had no windows on the side that was connected to the hallways in the school. Only windows on the outside of the building. That gave them the privacy he needed for the conversation they were about to have. He needed to make sure that Jenny would have no excuse to avoid this confrontation, because this issue needed to be resolved ASAP!

"Now that you have locked us like birds in a cage, can you finally tell me what is going on?!" Jason turned around with ice cold eyes that seemed to be spitting fire at the same time. "Why don't you tell me. When we were on the roof did you tell me everything?" Jenny felt a sudden stab when she heard those words and had a really bad feeling about what was about to be said. She did not say anything out of shock and could only stare in Jason's direction with large eyes as she convinced herself that he didn't know. He couldn't have known. The teacher had promised. "Because I don't think you did. I went to find your teacher and ask him if he could reconsider or find a way to have you partnered up with a girl instead and guess what he told me? He said that he had approached you himself to say that you didn't need to do it and that he would find another way, but that you had rejected his offer and said that you would find a way to make it work. Why would you do that when he offered you an escape?! You could have at the very least used it to convince him to partner you up with someone else. Why do you always have to be the hero to someone else and stomp all over my feelings? Is that deskmate of yours such a charmer that you couldn't stand the thought of not having your after school private dates with him?"

With reddened eyes Jenny said, "Are you done with your rant? How dare you accuse me of cheating. Here I had been so worried about you and thinking about how to make it up to you. The moment I received the news, I had spent every minute thinking of how to tell you. How to break the news to you in the best possible way. And what do you do, you go and do what I specifically asked you not to do and then you come and confront me out of some unfounded jealousy. Maybe I could have handled things a bit better, but this is who I am. I don't want to create trouble where there doesn't have to be any. Max is a nice guy and we get along, but to not further upset you, I ignored him since I got named class representative with him. Something which is in no way shape or form fair to him. But no more. I should have stuck with my principals from the beginning, which is that I won't have anyone decide who I can and cannot hang out with. Including you." This time it was Jenny who stormed out and left Jason behind to rethink his actions.

Jason was flabbergasted. How did she turn the situation around like that? How did this turn into him having to apologize? He was retracing his words and regretted accusing her of wanting more from the guy she was partnered up with. He had been in the right up to that point. He and his stupid mouth running off on his own. He dropped himself on the floor and dropped his head with his arms resting on his pulled up knees. He felt bad for hurting Jenny with his words. He could see that her eyes had turned red and that she was fighting back her tears. "What was I trying to achieve with this confrontation? Instead of fixing things, I was throwing oil onto the fire and made things a whole lot worse." He said to himself in the now empty classroom.

After a few minutes he got up and walked out as well. He decided to have lunch outside by himself to calm himself down and gather his thoughts. School wasn't the best place for them to talk about these things and he had upset Jenny enough already. The next time they talk should be a productive talk and not this hurting each other back and forth kind of thing, because that will clearly not get them anywhere.

When Jenny arrived at the rooftop to eat her lunch that Elizabeth had taken upstairs for her, Harry, who clearly could not read the mood, asked her where Jason was. That innocent bystander got a full blown snarl and a glare to match. "I don't know and I don't care. As long as he isn't here!" With that any conversation about Jason had become off limits. Though they didn't know what Jason had done, they assumed that it had something to do about what Elizabeth had told them about earlier today, but now they couldn't even ask about that either. At least not if they wanted to keep their heads. So, they ignored the giant elephant that was standing in the middle and ate their food as they filled the time with meaningless chatter, hoping this would pass over quickly as the tension in the air made it hard for them to swallow.

A situation where the worst had seemed to have passed, got a whole lot worse by keeping information behind fueling an unfouded jealousy. Let's see how they try to fix this. No matter what, they can only come out stronger!

I will be back here tomorrow with another chapter. For now I wish you all a nice evening and I hope you will enjoy.
