The symbol inside the ring

The next morning Jenny heads for the breakfast table, dreading what's to come. She has to face her in-laws after that conversation from last night. Her face grows glum and filled with regret just thinking of how to face them. Just like Jenny, Susan was filled with regret from what happened last night and she was wracking her brain to figure out how to make amends. She shouldn't have jumped to conclusions. How could she have have thought Jenny would do such a thing and even more so do that without a good reason. As Susan was twisting and turning in her chair, Jenny entered and the entire room grew even more silent. Jenny takes her seat next to Jason and grabs a bun and the chocolate sprinkles. She looks around awkwardly before deciding to break the silence. "Mother..could you pass me the butter please". In her house they never apologize to each other, but they test the waters and "apologize" by asking something of the other or offering something. By asking Susan such a simple thing, which she could reach herself even, she hopes to let her know that she is sorry and considers what happened water under the bridge. Susan quickly wipes her shocked expression from her face and shows a gentle smile instead, happy that Jenny has forgiven her. "Of course dear, here you go". Jenny grabs the butter from her hand and they enjoy a peaceful breakfast, during which Susan came to realize again what a wonderful daughter-in-law she had gotten herself.

As they are enjoying breakfast Jenny surprises the Westwoods with an unexpected question. "Mother, I've been meaning to ask. How did you find out what happened at school? Especially in such detail and so soon after it happened?" The table turns silent once more, before Susan says, "Yes, I guess we haven't told you this yet, but I am the current principal of Mountforth private high." "What? The principal? That is why everyone let's Jason do whatever he wants and it was so easy to have me enrolled mid-term. Even you being able to take time off from school without any trouble ,every time I came to England, makes sense now." "Well...that is part of it, but our family is quite powerful in England and a few other countries as well. We own multiple companies and businesses, as well as the school itself... So many of the people going to school there will end up working at one of our firms or one of our clients.." Another silence follows after Jason tells Jenny this second part of information and she stares off in the distance to let all this information sink in. Her stare wanders in the direction of the table and her eyes start to focus on her hands. As she stares at her ring another thing falls into place. She jumps up from the table and runs up the stairs to her room. She suddenly remembered where she had seen the school symbol that she found so familiar. She opens her jewelry drawer, picks up the ring box she loved so much and takes out the ring that Jason used during his first proposal. There it is, in the band of the ring the Asian lily was engraved. She leans back in her chair and stares at the ring, when Jason comes in after knocking on her already open door. He grabs another chair from her room and sits on it next to her in a backwards position. While Jenny continues staring at the ring, Jason start to tell Jenny the story about how his great grand parents met and the founding of the school.

Jenny loved the story. Every bit of it. Even as they were heading to school, she was feeling excited. Maybe even more so, because she would now look at the building, the ground and especially the rooftop with an entirely different light! As they entered the school grounds Jason started telling Jenny about the meanings of the different flowers that were planted along the way. These had been the same plants as the ones used back when the school was founded. He pointed her in the direction of all his favorite spots and they made plans to visit each and everyone of them during the next few days of school. These days passed by peacefully as Elizabeth had still not come to school and her lackeys had lost courage now that they had seen what had happened to their leader. Jenny enjoyed spending time with Jason and his friends and slowly got used to the stares, which were becoming less and less in number. It wasn't until Friday that something strange happened. Jenny had gone to the bathroom before joining the guys for lunch and as she got out a beautiful girl was standing by her classroom. She was looking around suspiciously and just as she was about to enter Jenny called out to her. "Hi, can I help you with something. Are you perhaps looking for someone?" The girl said nothing and simply looked at her before turning around and walking away. Jenny felt very confused about what had just happened and felt that this girl seemed oddly familiar, but she didn't have much time to think about her because her thoughts were interrupted by an incoming message from Jason. "Are you coming, or do I have to pick you up?" Followed by a seductive emoji. Jenny let out a laugh before grabbing her lunch and heading upstairs to that silly man!

Apparently my last two chapters weren't taken very well as I lost some readers. Though those moments are sad, I will stick to the story I have in mind. I hope for those of you who have stuck with me, that you will like it :)

Another two chapters for today as promised. Enjoy and If possible I will publish some more tomorrow!
