The seating chart

Jason opened his door and exited the car, without as much as a look behind him, he started walking towards the castle like school building. The driver opened the door on Jenny's side of the car and let her step out. He could see the redness of her eyes and knew the fight hadn't ended yet. He felt a bit sorry for Jenny who was left behind here to find her own way at this unfamiliar school. But it wasn't his place to meddle, so he gave her an encouraging nod before returning to the drivers seat. Jenny showed the driver a thankful smile and turned to the building. She figured Jason had left her behind, but she saw him not to far ahead. He had probably deliberately lowered his pace to give her a chance to catch up. With everyone's focus on him, they hadn't even noticed her stepping out of the same car. Jason must have done this on purpose to uphold his promise to her and avoid her gaining any unwanted attention. She couldn't help chuckle at this gesture. Even while they were fighting he was still thinking of ways to help her. Gentleness came over Jenny's face as she started walking towards the entrance. While Jenny was slowly following Jason's lead, the rest of the students at Mountforth high were worried about their fate, while at the same time admiring the handsome man who caused their worries. It was clear for them to see that Jason was in a bad mood and could feel the chill surrounding him along with his icy glare. Hopefully no one would get in his way today and they could get through this day in one piece.

The remaining details of the enrollment process went by smoothly and Jenny was now following Jason to the classroom while still being ignored by Jason. He had not looked over at her once since they had left the car. Though she was a bit hurt, this was in essence what she had asked of him. It was just that they were still fighting which made her have a double feeling about this. When she entered the classroom, Jason was already seated and was staring out of the window. She could feel the weird tension that was hanging in the completely silence classroom. Everyone was sitting in their seats and did not dare to make a sound from the moment Jason had stepped in. Jenny was looking a bit lost, not knowing what to do, say or where to sit. She could feel the eyes of the people in the classroom on her and she could hear a slow whisper traveling through the classroom. The boys were looking at her with infatuation, where the girls were looking at her with disdain. Luckily moments after the teacher came in and broke the silence. Though he too felt the tension, he had to introduce the new student and had to start class. Usually Mr. Westwood didn't bother coming to class when he was in a bad mood. Why did he decide to attend now. "Uhm..Welcome everyone. As you can see we have a new student with us today, so before we start class she will introduce herself and we will have to find a place for her to sit." Then he turned to Jenny who had been standing by his desk and said "Go ahead Jennifer".

"Well hello everyone, my name is Jennifer Charlston, please call me Jenny. I have moved here from the Netherlands, so English is not my first language. I may be unfamiliar with the surroundings, customs and sometimes the language. I hope you will guide me in those times and I hope we can all get along." "Thank you for you introduction. I am sure our students will welcome you with open arms. The class president will show you around school after class. Now to find a place for you to sit." The teacher grabbed the seating chart to see which desks were still free to prevent him from giving away a seat that belonged to someone that is out sick or late. "Ah surprisingly you have already been placed on the seating chart. According to this you should be sitting next to Mr. Westwood?"

This last word was said in shock and silence again filled the room.

Over the years the spot next to Jason had always been empty as he did not like "strangers" sitting next to him. Instantly all eyes were zoomed in on Jenny, even those of the group of popular students who had been only half listening before. She could feel their stares turn into glares. It was like she could read their thoughts. "Who is this girl", "She isn't anything special, so why would she be allowed to sit next to him", "She had better refuse". So she quickly let out an awkward laugh to break the silence and responded "How is that possible. I just started today. How could I have been on a seating chart. It must be a mistake, I am fine sitting wherever." "Yeah you must be right. It is probably just a mistake. How about I pick a seat for you. Ah the spot next to Jeffrey is still free, how about you sit there. That way you won't be too far from the chalkboard." As soon as those words had left the teachers mouth, Jason's head turned away from the window and gave the teacher an icy glare that he could feel all the way down his spine. The temperature in the room dropped down to a freezing temperature. Everyone was holding their breath. What was going on? Why did the Devil's bad mood worsen.

Jealousy strikes again! If he can't sit next to her, no boy can.

More chapters to come! For now enjoy :)
