The seat next to me...

When she looked inside the classroom, she had to blink twice to determine if what she was seeing reality. She expected to be sitting alone for the rest of the remaining period, but to her surprise the seat beside her wasn't empty. The one sitting there was none other than Jason. What he had been busy with this morning at school was preparing this surprise. Apparently he had gone to speak with his mother and have him transfer out of his current class and into Jenny's. Though this wasn't much of a problem logistically, as he had shown his mother that the odds of Max returning to their school was practically nonexistent making an opening appear in Jenny's class. He told her about how his class had an uneven number of students anyways, which was always the case for Jason's class as he wanted to sit alone. So, even if he did somehow manage to return, Max could take his spot in his class and he would take his in Jenny's class.

Though Susan had been somewhat reluctant at firs, as she had made Jenny a certain promise. One she would be backing out on if she had Jason transfer classes. But after what they had gone through these past few weeks, she felt that she was finally given the opportunity to correct her earlier error in judgement in allowing the two of them being in separate classes in the first place. Therefore she eventually agreed and had it processed personally, making it take immediate effect. This brings us back to the current situation where Jason was sitting nonchalantly in Max's previous seat, leaning on one hand and waving playfully towards her with a big smile on his face as if he belonged in that seat in the first place and she was the odd one for being surprised. Jenny was still somewhat reluctant to believe that this was really happening. As if fearful that if she approached too fast she might break the illusion, she stepped closer to her seat slowly. Under the curious stares of her fellow classmates, including Elizabeth who had by now stepped inside too and became an equally surprised witness.

When she was finally standing next to Jason she called out to him softly. "Jason...what brings you here?" Jason continued to smile at her and grabbed her hand gently. Suddenly his smile turned into a teasing grin and she was pulled onto his lap before she had a chance to respond. Jenny's eyes grew wide at his actions and grew even wider when he placed a kiss on her lips in the middle of the classroom, for all to see. As the other students squealed at the sight of what was happening. Some were looking through the gaps between the fingers covering their eyes and others were looking with their jaws dropped to the ground at their boldness of Jason's actions. By now Jenny was completely flabbergasted and stuttered as her face grew red. Jason took the opportunity of her being unable to speak to say, "The seat next to me has always been empty, ...that is until now."

Elizabeth laughed at both Jason's and Jenny's actions. She was impressed by her close friend's action. She remembered how she had stood in that same position last year. With Nick kissing her in the middle of the classroom. The only difference was that she didn't care about being witnessed by the others at all, where Jenny wanted to dig a hole then and there to hide in. Which was clear to see and made her reaction entertaining to those around her. Including Jason himself probably. She returned to her seat as she felt happy for one of her friends while she pitied the other.

When the teacher walked in, Jenny was still seated in Jason's lap, staring at him in disbelief of what he had done. However, the teacher didn't seem to notice at all as he walked over to his desk. Seeing so many students standing by their desks and grouped together, the teacher called for order as he was ready to start his class. "All right everyone, return to your seats. It is time for class to start." Jenny had not yet moved, giving Jason another opportunity to tease her. With a taunting smile he said in a low whisper, " Not that I mind, but do you plan on sitting here all throughout class or do you need me to kiss you again." This appeared enough to make Jenny return to reality. Looking at her position and seeing the teacher, she got startled and jumped off of his lap and onto her seat and looked over with a glare. However her glare earned her nothing more than an amused inaudible laugh from Jason.

The teacher still had not noticed anything unusual and was somewhat eccentric and dense when it came to things normal people were interested in and would notice. As if suddenly remembering that he had forgotten to inform them of the daily specials at the cafeteria, he said, "Oh yes, as you have probably already noticed, we have a new transfer in your class of someone you all know quite well. Our very own Mr. Westwood, welcome." He was even one of the few teachers who still didn't know that Jenny and Jason were engaged. "It appears that you have already chosen a place to sit." While forcing himself to keep a straight expression Jason replied, "Yes sir, my neighbour is 'quite' welcoming. So, I think I will feel right at home, sitting next to her." The whole class stifled a laugh and Jenny tried to hide her reddened cheeks, as they knew what he was referring to after that full on display, but the teacher who missed it all didn't understand what was so funny and turned back to the blackboard. "Very well, I am glad to hear that. Now, let's move onto what was on today's schedule, integrals." When the teacher turned around, Jenny dropped her face into her arms at Jason's brashness and realized for the first time that she was in for quite a ride for what remained of the school year...
