The power of a habit

Jenny had been laying in bed for over an hour now, but no matter what she did she could not fall asleep. Right now she was experiencing first hand what the power of a habit can be. She was tossing and turning all over the large expensive bed. If the best and finest blankets couldn't keep her warm. If the sleep sound machine and the most high end pillows couldn't help her fall asleep, then what could? She tried switching the position of her pillow, reading a book, practicing breathing exercises, but nothing could help her. Could she have slept too much on the ride over? Or was it something else that was keeping her from her sleep? After another hour of not being able to sleep a wink, Jenny was staring at the ceiling once more as she was forced to acknowledge the real reason for her restless night. For the past week she had been sleeping in Jason's arms. Even during the plane and car ride over, he had his arms wrapped tightly around her. The only thing that had been missing this night, compared to the nights before, was him. She whispered to herself "It's scary how soon one can develop a habit..."

She looked over to the wall that was separating her bedroom from Jason's and even though they were separated by a thin wall, it felt like he was a million miles away. After tossing and turning for some time, she gave up and gave into what she needed. She removed the blankets and got out of her bed. She walked through the hall over to the room next door and quietly sneaked into Jason's room. On her tip toes she crossed his room over to his bed, slowly and stealthy. She was afraid of bumping into something and waking Jason in the process, as she didn't have any light to guide her. Little did she know that he was instantly woken the moment she had walked in.

He had noticed a presence enter his room, but once he realized it was her, his tensed body relaxed and dozed off again. He didn't even need to look to know it was her. He could already tell by her unique scent and the barely present pitter patter of her small feet. He was too unguarded in her presence, to fully notice what was going on. Jenny, still being mindful of his sleep and afraid of waking him, slowly lifted his blankets and crawled onto the bed ever so gently. Once she was under his covers, she slowly inched closer to his body. She was instinctively drawn to the heat that was exuding from Jason's body and crept closer and closer, till she could clasp her legs and arms around him. With a content smile, she finally felt everything fall into place and let the long awaited sleep wash over her. The last thought that crossed her mind was that after the multiple nights they had spent together, she had finally gotten her chance to be the big spoon!

The next morning Jason woke up with feeling a small arm around his waist and a pair of legs pressed against his. On his back he felt soft, warm breaths. Almost not believing what his senses were telling him, he opened his eyes and lifted the covers on his side to take a look. After confirming what he was feeling, he slowly turned his head to see the creature that was clasping him from behind. When he sensed her coming into his room last night, he had never thought that this would be the outcome. He had convinced himself that her getting into his bed was just a very vivid dream. Still thinking it might be, he pinched himself to be sure that he was really awake. After determining that this had really happened, he forced himself to stop moving. Afraid that any movement could wake Jenny who was sleeping so peacefully. Afraid that once she woke up she would realize where she was, what she had done and scare her away. That it would break whatever was causing this. All he did was place his hand on the hand that was hanging around his waist and intertwined their fingers as he held onto her hand tightly. He pressed her hand to his stomach and adjusted himself ever so slightly before closing his eyes once more. Be it a dream or reality, he wanted to enjoy this moment for a bit longer.

Despite Jason's expectations, once Jenny woke up she was quite calm. She blinked a few times and saw that a large back was blocking her entire sight. She tried to turn over to her back, to look around the somewhat unfamiliar room, but was held back by Jason's tight grip. She smiled gently and placed a barely noticeable kiss on his back. She wondered when he had found out that she was sleeping here. When he had trapped her like this and made her unable to leave. How well did this man know her? Though she was calm now, even she had expected herself to try and escape. That her embarrassed side would make her leave his bed before he would wake up. Allowing him to believe whatever he saw was but a figment of his imagination. Caving so soon after saying all that she had said last night was an utter defeat, but somehow she felt it was a battle she was willing to lose.

Although she said this, the moment she noticed Jason had woken up, she pretended to still be asleep. She wasn't ready to face him yet. To meet with his mocking stare. So pretending to be asleep was the safest way. Once he would head into the bathroom, she would run to her own room. Once she was wearing normal clothes and wasn't lying in his bed, she wouldn't feel so self conscious and would be able to have a normal conversation with him about this. Not knowing Jason had already noticed her slight movements and had woken up because he noticed she was awake, Jenny closed her eyes and tried to normalize her breathing.

Here we are with the second chapter of the day. I hope you will all enjoy and I will be back here tomorrow with the next chapter!
