The new term

The new term had started and Nick was finally joining the others at Mountforth High. However unlike what everyone had anticipated, Nick had chosen to not join the class of Jason and the others. He had made this decision after finding out that despite all of them making up, Jason hadn't reversed his class change for Elizabeth yet. So to make sure that Elizabeth was no longer alone in that class and had at least one friendly face in there, he had asked to be placed in her class instead. All of these things had been quite last moment decisions so he had yet to inform Elizabeth. Though he could have simply given her a call or sent her a message to let her know of his class change, Elizabeth had told him that she wanted what the other girls had in terms of a relationship. And the one thing that seemed to be a returning aspect in their relationships was unexpected sweet gestures, so he would start this term with one of his own.

So when Elizabeth walked into her classroom with a stoic face, slightly dejected over not being in the same class as the others, she was pleasantly surprised by what she saw. Nick was sitting on a seat by the window. He had been waiting for her to arrive since a half hour ago and had since been surrounded by multiple female classmates. They were not aware he was already taken and were scouting the new meat. Asking him question after question, hoping to find something they could use to bond over with him. They had seen him a few times before in the hallways, but he had been wearing a different school uniform then. They had noticed his looks at those moments as well, but he had always been in somewhat of a hurry and once he wasn't, he would be walking next to Mr. Westwood, making them unable to get any closer. Now that he was sitting here in their classroom, with their uniform on, it could only mean one thing. He was the new transfer they had heard about and boy was he a welcome one.

Though they had plenty to look at with Jason, George and Harry walking the halls, it could never get further than just looking from a distance. They were quite unapproachable, especially Jason. So after years of having to satisfy themselves with just looking, Nick felt like a breath of fresh air. He was answering all of their questions, smiling, laughing even flirting a bit. Allowing them to dream that they could be something more to him than just a classmate. This was because Nick was experiencing the other side of a habit, which is that old habits die hard. He was one that did not discriminate and found beauty in all types of women. This was partly the reason why he was so popular, because he knew how to make a girl feel good about themselves. The only downside for the girls dating him before, was that he could never belong to just one girl. Once he noticed them getting too involved or start demanding more than he could give, he would leave just as easily as he came. That was until he met Elizabeth.

When he saw her walking in, he smiled and waved at her. The girls surrounding him instantly turned around to see who had gained his attention and saw that it was Elizabeth. They looked at her with disgruntled faces, afraid that the new guy would be taken by her so soon of arriving. They had all witnessed her acts to gain Jason's attention and had seen that they were quite effective. They couldn't have her using her damsel-in-distress act to seduce their newly found beacon of light. This girl was like a vixen with an attitude problem, they had watched her brag and behave stuck up over her connection to Jason. Now that he had thrown her to the side, would she now aim her arrows at Nick? While they were busy preparing for a war they had already lost, Nick was looking past the group of people standing in between them towards Elizabeth.

Elizabeth hadn't noticed Nick at first, because he was blocked by the other people in class. Now that they had parted to see who Nick was looking at, Elizabeth got the chance to see him. Once their eyes met, they could only see each other. Everyone else had seemed to be reduced to a blur, everyone except them, much like a long distance picture zoomed in on just on thing. Without saying a word, Nick got up and walked in her direction. Elizabeth stood frozen to the spot, waiting for Nick to reach her. The sounds coming from the girls had gained the attention of the guys in class as well as they all watched what was going on. Neither Nick nor Elizabeth were bothered by their curious eyes as they kept looking at each other as the distance between them was being reduced.

Any normal guy would be afraid that their girlfriend would get jealous if they found them surrounded by multiple girls, but Nick showed nothing more than calmness and happiness on his face during his strides towards Elizabeth. And any other girl might have gotten jealous, but clearly not the confidence exuding queen that was standing in front of all of them with a smile on her face. Though she wasn't exactly happy to find him in that situation, she couldn't blame him for the actions of others. She too had gotten plenty of unwanted attention from guys falling for her looks, so as long as she didn't find him initiating the attention, she would consider it unwanted attention on his part as well. Plus how could she possibly feel any anger or jealousy if he had done what she thought he had done for her. The more he surprised and spoiled her like this, the more her trust in him would grow. These background characters wouldn't be able to change that, no matter how hard they tried. The moment Nick reached Elizabeth, he didn't hesitate as he put his hand at the small of her back and pulled her close, earning them the gasps of the female students surrounding Nick before. Under the stares of all the other students Nick went a step further as he went in for a kiss, delivering his final blow to the female warriors by the side!
