The Festival of Breaking the fast

The Festival of Breaking the fast was basically the Christmas of Jenny's culture with it being a multiple day celebration with good food, presents for the children and a gathering of family. Jason had attended the celebration more than once and had even participated with the fast two times to support Jenny. But since Jenny couldn't participate because of her pregnancy last year and because she was still breast feeding this year, he hadn't been fasting either. Getting the reward without paying the price. But where he wasn't always as faithful with the fasting, he always made sure to donate to the poor and despite his donations already being very generous, he did triple his donations according to the customs in Jenny's family in the years he did not fast. Even when Mary assured him that he did not have to do that and that they were already happy that he had participated a few times despite it not being a part of his beliefs or customs.

This was the first time that Charlie would be attending and the first time most of Jenny's family would be seeing Charlie in person since his birth. Having made due with what they saw in pictures and videos that Jenny had sent to her mother, who would then show her pride and joy off by sending it to all those that were willing to see it. With him finally visiting, Mary had been making preparations for their arrival ever since Jenny had informed her they would be coming. Buying toys, making all kinds of snacks and treats she was sure he wouldn't be able to eat in England and preparing multiple outfits. Either store bought or handmade. Insisting on spoiling him rotten after not seeing him for so long.

But when she started insisting on them staying over at Jenny's childhood home as well, Jenny drew the line. Their house would be crowded enough with all the guests staying over and those who came from far even staying for multiple days. Jenny did not feel like being one of those many guests and disturbing everyone's rest by cramping them in a room with a small infant. Since they had the means, they would stay in a hotel, the same hotel that she and Jason had stayed in during their summer in the Netherlands. Despite the many protests of their family, most of the protests coming from people other than Mary herself who had accepted their choice fairly quickly.

Today was the day of the trip and the five of them were waiting in line at the gate of the airport. Getting ready to board for their short upcoming flight. Though Jenny was a bit nervous about taking Charlie on a plane, she did not want to take the smaller Westwood private plane either. So, they were taking their chances with the commercial flight they had currently lined up for. With seats in the VIP section, which at least promised them plenty of legroom and space for Charlie to play once the plane had taken off, Jenny hoped they would make it through without much trouble. Not necessarily trouble for them but for the other passengers.

"It will be fine honey. Stop worrying. Charlie has never been a regular baby. So, we shouldn't expect him to react to a flight like regular babies do." Jason said in an attempt to settle her worries as he was holding Charlie in his arms. "Yeah, I suppose you are right." Jenny responded in a voice that showed that she was clearly not fully convinced. So, Jason forced her to look in his direction and bumped his head against hers, causing them to be eye to eye with their noses touching, before he repeated his words. "It. Will. Be. Fine. I promise." While Jason was doing this, Charlie treated Jason's comforting as a chance to play a game as he cheerfully tried to grab onto Jenny, under happy shrieks. Jason managed to keep his focus on Jenny and she kept her focus on him as well as he stroked her cheeks gently with his free hand and gave her a reassuring smile before standing up straight again when he saw the turmoil in her eyes calming down a bit.

After that he changed his comforting techniques to putting his arm around her and pulling her close against his body, stroking her arm up and down while he attempted to rest his head against hers from his sideways position, which was proving quite difficult due to their height difference. So, he soon switched it up again, to a one handed back hug where he could place his chin on her head. Keeping this up until they were allowed to board. Charlie was trying to help in the comforting by using his chubby hands to stroke her hair for as much as his motor skills allowed him to and let his head and body drop against hers, rubbing his soft cheeks against Jenny's. Causing both parents to start laughing.

Jenny turned her face to the side and placed a kiss on Charlie's cheek before asking, "Are you trying to comfort me as well Charlie?" After asking this, she turned around and grabbed him from Jason's arms, pressing two more kisses on his cheeks. "If even you say it is going to be fine, then I must really be worrying for nothing. Thank you my dear son." Jason who missed his share of the praise asked, "Hey, what about me?" Jenny chuckled and replied, "Yes, thank you to my dear husband as well. I have been blessed to have such great men in my life, leaving me with more than one to praise." Once she said this, it was their turn to enter the plane and there was no more going back.
