The bright coloured path

The moment the five minutes passed, the room slowly darkened as black curtains covered the clear walls and roof of the tent, making the beautiful glass lights stand out. Almost simultaneously the music changed to Elizabeth and Nick's entrance music. In pairs the couples walked down the sand path with their glass bottles, which now each had a bouquet of sparkler fireworks. Each couple carried sparklers in a different colour, which they placed down at their assigned spot. After that they grabbed one sparkler out of one of the bottles that were already placed by the path by the workers at the venue and lit it using the sparklers they arrived with. After it was lit they placed it back in the bottle, causing a chain reaction lighting up sparkler after sparkler, bottle after bottle. Making the whole path lit up with a rainbow coloured path, changing colour slightly with each bottle. After the last bottle was lit, Nick and Elizabeth walked in, amidst the fireworks. His white suit and her white dress forming a perfect contrast with the bright coloured path.

Once they had crossed the path, they went onto the dance floor and the crowd stepped back to give them the space they needed for their opening dance. Elizabeth being classically schooled in her younger years, had chosen a ballet like dance and her every move looked graceful. Once their dance had finished, the dance floor was open to the other guests and the once darkened room was lit up once more by lifting the curtains and letting the light from outside back in. The music was changed from the smooth jazz like music it had been before their entrance, to a more upbeat, dancing kind of music. But while the music was ready, the guests weren't. They were still talking about their entrance and everyone wanted to greet and congratulate the both of them. It wasn't until the sky had naturally started to darken and the drinks had been flowing for a while, that the people let loose and started dancing. Among them were Nick and Elizabeth themselves. After some dance floor fun, the music was turned back to the lounge music it was before and dinner was announced. So, everyone returned to their assigned seats and server after server came from the corridor where they had all entered the venue with large platters holding up plates of food.

Of course the food was seafood or in any other way sea or beach related, which meant a tough time for Jenny who was not fond of seafood and fish at all. Jason saw her poking the food on her plate and moving it back and forth without actually taking a bite from the other side of the table. They were sitting at a long straight table and all the guys were sitting by Nick's side and all the girls by Elizabeth's side, with Jenny and Jason each halfway down the table. So, they weren't able to talk with each other during dinner, but this didn't stop them from stealing glances every now and then, which was when Jason noticed Jenny's almost full plate as she was talking with the other girls. He too wasn't exactly fan of seafood, but he had grown up eating all kinds of high end cuisine, so he had learned to appreciate it. Seeing Jenny have such a tough time with what had been served, he called one of the waiters and whispered something to him. When the guys asked him what was wrong, he brushed their questions off with a 'It's nothing' and continued eating and chatting.

The waiter walked away and returned after a few minutes with a plate. He walked over to Jenny and traded the plate in front of her with the one he had brought with him. When he took off the lid, she saw that it was filled with the appetizers they had before. Jenny's eyes turned wide as she tried to understand what had happened. She hadn't requested anything, but she certainly was happy with this trade. Where the appetizers had been beach themed as well, it was carried out in the shape and not necessarily in the food itself, so it suited her pallet much better. Suddenly she turned to her left and saw Jason, who then smiled and winked at her from behind the hand he was resting his head on, before turning back to his conversation with the guys. He knew it wasn't much, but at least she would have something to eat and wouldn't have to force herself to eat something that she clearly wasn't enjoying.

Jenny smiled gently at the back of his head and as she was thinking of how to show her appreciation, she turned to her bag and grabbed her phone. Her fingers floated over the screen as she typed him a message. Jason had his phone on vibrate and felt it go off. When he saw that a message had come in, he opened it discreetly. "Thanks Jace, let me know if there is anything on your plate that I should take care of for you!🖤🖤" Jason smiled as he replied "How do you plan on doing that? I think there is very little that I won't eat that you do eat. All you can help me with is my dessert plate." Jenny heard his reply come in and grabbed her phone from her purse. When she saw what he had written she said, "Have you forgotten my assistance back at my mother's house already? It doesn't always have to be about what is on the plate, it can also be about the quantity." "Well consider this payback then." Jason said with a wink face emoji. Their little interaction hadn't gone unnoticed. Though their table was at the front of the room and in everyone's sight, the person who had spotted them hadn't been from the guests in front of them, but from someone at their table. Someone who didn't seem too pleased...
