Taking advantage

Jenny thought for a moment about the identity of the beautiful woman and it didn't take her long to figure it out. The woman spoke of Jason and her husband. The only 'husband' she had spoken to, whose wife she hadn't met, was that of Jason's grandfather. So, this should be Jason's grandmother. Now that the identity of the woman was clear, Jenny returned her smile and had no problem following her. In fact she became quite excited as she could get to know Jason's grandmother as well and she seemed even more approachable and welcoming than his grandfather had been. It seemed that Jason was right. She had indeed been worrying for nothing. Jenny took his grandmother's hand and followed her down the hall and to a glass door that was connected to the outside.

As they were walking, Jason's grandmother said with a chuckle, "I saw what an amazing gift you managed to find for my husband. He seems very fond of it. That couldn't have been easy to do when you have never met him before. So, I am quite impressed already. Not only that but it makes me wonder and look forward to what you shall gift me a few months from now." She followed her words with a wink, but Jenny couldn't help smile a bit awkwardly as she felt another heavy burden placed on her shoulder. The only good side to all this was that she had already managed to make a good impression on her with the gift for Jason's grandfather and she won't have to do it based on a few stories from Jason, which should make the gift selecting process a lot easier. Better yet, she could start getting to know his grandmother tonight! She could even try to plan her next visit or have his grandmother agree to stay in touch through telephone as she lived quite far away. Either way, there were multiple options for her to do better than she had apparently already done tonight. This thought gave Jenny the confidence she needed to push her unneeded worries aside and enjoy her walk and talk.

As Jenny walked in the backyard among the beautiful flowers and happily chatted with Jason's grandmother, Jason himself started to get worried. Though he was convinced Jenny hadn't minded their little moment of passion, he was starting to rethink that conviction. Seeing how long she had been gone, without even informing him or someone else at the table, made him think that she might have hated it more than he thought. Maybe not the kiss itself, but perhaps him taking advantage of their situation right now?

Seeing the worry on his grandson's face, his grandfather asked "What's on your mind Jason? You seem worried." Jason tried to evade the question with a forced smile and a "It's nothing." as he didn't want to get into it, but his grandfather felt that he had shown enough understanding and was ready to help his grandson fix whatever was keeping his mind occupied this evening. Especially considering he thought he knew what his main focus was right now and could at least take some of his worries away. Now that there were no other people crowding his table, there was no harm in him asking. "If it's nothing, then why do you keep staring in the direction of the hall where the ladies room is? Are you looking for Jenny?"

With his thought apparently already being clear for his grandfather to see, Jason nodded his head and said, "Yeah, she was supposed to return a few minutes after me, but thirty minutes have already passed and there is no sight of her nor have I heard from her." With a chuckle his grandfather said, "If you think long and hard about who else is missing right now and appeared a bit jealous and left out moments ago, I think it will be clear where your dear fiance is." Jason's eyes grew large and he felt stupid that he hadn't thought of it himself. His grandmother must have gone to look for Jenny so she too could have a private moment with her.

It appeared that jealousy was a common trait in his family. If it wasn't the men, it was the women. His grandmother was unhappy to hear that she was the only one who had yet to meet Jenny and to add to that his grandfather bragged how he had already managed to have a one on one with her over a game of chess on his new chess board that their granddaughter-in-law had personally picked out for him and gifted to make a good impression on him. Though his grandmother appeared a graceful and calm woman, she had a childish and petty streak to her, which she managed to hide well. Except for her doting husband of course, who couldn't help but punish her for being late to his party in the best way he knew how, that seemed to benefit both parties.

Jason's expression let up and he went back to his original thinking of Jenny not minding what had happened before. Just when his grandfather wanted to ask what had been bothering him before in hopes of being able to help solve that problem as well, though he expected it wouldn't be as easy as the problem just now, Jenny and Jason's grandmother had walked into the guest-filled room with linked arms. Again Jenny was faced with looks of envy and anger from other family members who hadn't managed to get so close to the elders of the Westwood family in years as she had done in just a day.

Here we are with the first chapter for today. Unfortunately we had unexpected guests over today, making me unable to start the writing on time. So, I am not sure if I'll be able to write two chapters tonight, but I will be sure to make up for it tomorrow :)

For now I want to thank Humaira_Jarjisa for her support in the comment section and hopefully till later tonight and if not, definitely till tomorrow!
