Summer chic

Now that the sports festival was over, the next big event was already around the corner, which would be Elizabeth's engagement party. The two days of school that was in between passed by quickly and now it was the morning of the party. Jenny was hurrying to get to Elizabeth's venue and was rushing Jason to get ready as well, because they wanted to go there together and Jenny had to get there an hour before the actual party. This was because Elizabeth had arranged for her hairdresser and stylist to do the hair and make up of her close friends among which she counted Jenny as well. The engagement had a theme and a clear dress code. Women were asked to wear something with light colours and a flower in their hair. All dresses had to be loose fitted and preferably over the knee. Men had to wear a matching summer suit. All to match their theme of summer chic. To help her friends to look stunning alongside her, she wanted their hair and make up to be done by the same people, so that they would match. In her mind she wanted this party to be like a pre-wedding and if a wedding had bridesmaids and a theme, why should her engagement party not have any?

Jenny was happy that Elizabeth had arranged this, because she knew that Elizabeth was quite strict about people following a theme and this was her day. So, everything had to be done how she wanted it to be done. Since she had no clue how to incorporate a flower into a hairdo, Jenny had planned to hire a stylist for today. Luckily she received Elizabeth's invite just in time. That way she would be certain that her hair would be up to standard. The only real problem was that she and Jason didn't have the best track record in arriving on time. Now she had to be there an hour early, which was proving to be quite a challenge.

With her shoes in hand and her dress in a clothing bag, Jenny glanced at her watch as she waited for Jason to come out. When she saw what time it was, she became shocked. She walked into the bathroom, where Jason was standing with nothing more than a towel around his waist, ready to start fixing his hair and shave. "Jace, we have to go NOW. You can grab your shaving supplies and your wax with you and fix whatever you need to fix there. Elizabeth will kill me if I am late." "Calm down Jenny. It will be fine. There is no way that Liz will be done on time. She will make people wait for her arrival with no trouble at all." Jenny was having none of it as she threw some simple clothes in his direction. "She can be late. I can't. We have a tight schedule to hold onto. I might lose my spot with the hairdresser and unless you know how to do it, I need that slot. We have five minutes, put that on and you can get dressed at the venue"

Without waiting for his reaction she went back into the bedroom where his suit was laid out on the bed and put it in a bag as well. Jason could see that Jenny was a bit stressed and decided to not fight her on this. It was a lot easier for a man to get ready for a party then it was for a woman. So, he put on the jeans and shirt she had thrown to him and followed the rushed Jenny out to the car. The getting ready would at least provide him with something to do during the hour that they had to wait for the party to start and for him to wait for Jenny to be done with her hair and make up. He imagined the other guys wouldn't be ready yet either, so they could get dressed together. Once they were in the car and on their way to the venue Jason said, "Have you calmed down worry wart." as he flicked the tip of her nose gently. Jenny's expression finally relaxed. "Yeah, sorry about that. I am just really excited for them and I don't want to do anything to ruin it for them. I would have hated it it if my friends had been late on a day like this." Jason let out a silent exhaled laughter. "It's alright. I know you mean well. All I need is a sink and a mirror and I'll be fine."

It was a good thing that Jenny had stopped Jason when she did, because they arrived with a minute to spare. When they got there, Jenny dashed out the car and into the hall. She ran into the other guys who were indeed no where near ready. "Hi, Jenny. You are right on time. Where did you leave Jason. Weren't you guys supposed to come together?" A little out of breath she said, "Where is Liz?" Seeing she was in a hurry and had no intention of answering all his questions, Nick pointed her in the right direction. After he saw Jenny disappear through the door, Jason calmly walked in with their clothes and his toiletries. "Hey man. There you are. What did you do to Jenny? She seemed even more stressed than Lizzy did this morning." "Nothing. You can blame your future missus for that." Nick chuckled as he put his arm around his friend. "Now that we are all complete, we should get dressed as well. I promised Lizzy that I would get us all ready in time and in return she would let me do what I want this morning. So, if I don't want to start this party with disappointing her, we best get going now and relax when we are done."

Here we are with the rest of this chapter and I am halfway done with the second chapter. Thank you all for your patience and I hope you enjoy :D
