Start the reunion!

Once they found a seat, they sighed a breath of relieve and Jason got a chance to regain his breath. Fortunately, he had a good stamina, so that didn't take long. It was just the unexpected need for a dash that caused him to exert more energy than was usually needed for a run of that distance. When they finally looked each other in the eyes they both burst out laughing simultaneously. This morning had been so comical. It could have come straight out of a movie. "What a morning huh" Jenny said through as she wiped the tears that had formed in the corners of her eyes. "Tell me about it. Wasted so much energy so early on in the day. All of this for a flower garden. Those flowers had better be gorgeous, making me rush first thing in the morning." Jenny chuckled seeing his expression.

"Well, even if the flowers don't make it worth it, the park itself and the food afterwards surely will." Jason turned his body sideways and asked, "Have you been here before?". Jenny nodded her head to indicate she had. "Of course! How could I not have, when I live so nearby? Sure, it's a nightmare when you use public transportation, but by car it's only a twenty-minute drive away. With one of the largest flower distribution centres in Europe, all those flower nurseries, how could I possibly not have gone to an internationally famous flower garden." Jason was half listening and half with his thoughts elsewhere as he looked at Jenny's face while she excitedly told him about her experience. I went when I was a little girl and I recall thinking it was beautiful, running among the flowers, the playground for children, the hammocks hanging there so you can enjoy the beautiful weather, as well as the huge, typical wooden clogs, that I could fit completely into."

Suddenly he was forced to refocus as she asked him "Speaking of food, what did you buy us? Was there anything good still available? Back when I worked nearby here, I would enjoy what they made quite a lot, but the sandwiches would sell out quite fast. They would make one fresh if you asked them to, but there was no way you had time for that today." Jason lifted his index finger as if remembering something or getting a good idea. He grabbed the paper bag beside him and said, "Ah of course, I almost forgot about that." He opened the bag and handed Jenny the first large Italian bun as he explained what he had gotten her. "Well a lot had been sold out, but I got you a honey mustard sandwich with grilled chicken and pineapple and myself a panini with grilled cheese, pesto, tomatoes and chicken." As he got his sandwich out of the bag, he saw Jenny's eyes eying his grilled panini, barely showing any interest in her own sandwich. "What are you looking at this for, start eating your own sandwich. You are not getting mine." Experiencing a case of 'The grass always looks greener on the other side' or 'Wanting what you can't have', Jenny was craving what Jason was holding more than what was in her own hands. Her eyes moved up from the panini to Jason's eyes, putting on a pout and looking at him with puppy dog eyes. Waiting for him to cave and trade sandwiches with her or at least give her a bite. "But yours looks so good. Can't we go halfsies? Or can I just have a bite?"

"No. Eat your own sandwich. We both know it won't stop with just one bite." "Ah, come on. I promise I will take just one bite. You can have a bite of my Italian bun in return. Please?" She said as she batted her lashes at him. Jason was weak against Jenny's requests on a regular day, but with her using her cuteness and pitying eyes on him, he didn't stand a chance. After putting on a strong front, he caved and gave into her request. "Ugh, fine! But just one bite okay. I need more than half a sandwich to keep myself energized till dinner. Especially when we will be walking around for hours in that park." Jenny instantly got excited and grabbed the sandwich from his hands before sinking her teeth into the still warm sandwich. An expression of pure enjoyment came over her face.

When she tried to sneak in a second bite, Jason stole his panini back and even lowered his face for a big bite of her sandwich, which she had been holding in her other hand. "Hey! Not fair. How can you take such a big bite?! half of my sandwich is practically gone." "Serves you right for trying to take a second bite and breaking your promise." Jenny couldn't argue with that, so she glared at him sideways for a brief moment, before taking a bite of her own sandwich and realizing this one was even better. She should have known that Jason would pick the right thing for her. She should have trusted his judgement and stuck with her own sandwich, then she wouldn't have lost such a big chunk. Seeing her enjoying the mix of sweet, hearty and slightly spicy, Jason smiled and started eating his own sandwich as well.

When both of them had finished the food in their hands, Jenny sighed and looked out of the window, wishing she had more. Though the sandwich had filled her up, she had enjoyed the taste so much that she wasn't ready for that to have been her last bite. Suddenly she saw in the reflection of the window that Jason put his hand back into the bag. She turned herself around to confirm that what she thought she saw was the truth, when she saw Jason taking a bite of yet another panini. "You had another one?! Why were you being so stingy then?" Jason looked at Jenny with a teasing smile on his face and said, "How could I have enjoyed such a good show, if I had told you that I had bought a second panini?" Jenny didn't get angry, instead she smiled back at him, making Jason a bit confused. In the midst of his confusion, she returned the favour and lowered her face to steal a large bite. Jason was a bit flabbergasted by her move but chuckled almost right after.

Their back and forth had gained them the attention of the other passengers. They were staring in envy, or from a feeling of thinking they were cute together, or even a bit of nostalgia as they recalled their sweet days of young romance. At least they were no longer mad. Again oblivious to all the eyes pointed in their direction, Jenny and Jason continued their silliness till they had arrived at the "Keukenhof" and had to get off, so they could join the rest of Jenny's family to enter the gardens and start the reunion!

Finally the long week has passed and the weekend has come! These upcoming few days I will be able to post on more "normal" times. I hope I haven't kept you waiting for too long tonight and that you enjoy a sweet, simple moment between Jenny and Jason before he meets her entire family. :O
