Soft cries

Soft cries filled the delivery room before the baby quieted down after being returned to his mother's side. She held the small creature that she had anxiously waited to meet for over nine months. When they caught their first glimpse of the newest addition to both families, Jenny received kisses left and right. The first from her mother, congratulating her daughter for becoming a mother herself and the second being from Jason himself. He was extremely proud of Jenny and felt that he couldn't love her more than he did at that very moment, though this seemed to be a limit that was pushed further and further during each remarkable occasion in their lives together. Surprising even Jason himself, when he saw that the limit he thought he had reached was pushed away by Jenny's actions and her overall presence in his life. Showing just how big of an impact Jenny had on him.

When Susan left the delivery room to inform the others, Jenny and Jason were left alone for a brief window of time before Jason's parents would enter the room. Having no words for the moment, Jason expressed what he was feeling by kissing mother and child over and over again. And now that his mother-in-law had left the room, he didn't hesitate to kiss her on the lips as well. In as much silence as the moment allowed, Jenny and Jason immersed themselves in their little bubble of three and tried to soak up every second of it before someone else would come to join them.

When Mary relayed the news, the overall reaction seemed to initially be "Already?" before they burst into excitement. Though they couldn't meet with the mother and child yet, they could start decorating her post-delivery room, which they immediately started with after their moment of celebration. Susan had ordered a cake to be delivered to the hospital, which their guests could eat as they got through the waiting time that Jenny had requested. She handed the cake to Mary, before she and Stephen made their way over to the delivery room to meet their first grandchild. When they walked in they saw a scene that looked like the perfect picture of a new family, with Jenny holding their newborn baby and Jason having found a way to squeeze himself onto the bed with her and holding the two of them in his embrace. One of his arms wrapped around Jenny and the other supporting her hold on their son. Stephen and Susan almost wanted to walk back out in order to not disturb their moment, when Jenny called out to them. "Mother, father, come look at your grandson."

When they walked over, the first thing they did was kiss Jenny's forehead in turn. Susan, whispering "Thank you dear, for your hard work. He is perfect in every sense of the word." before taking their first look at their grandson. After their glance, they placed a gentle kiss on his small hands that were curled up around Jenny and Jason's index finger. Both of them then turned to Jason. Susan wrapping her arms around her son's neck and placing a kiss on his cheek before she whispered, "Congratulations my dear son." With tearful eyes she continued speaking as she had let go of her embrace and was only holding onto the top of his shoulders. "Now that you have become a father, I guess I am going to have to accept that you are no longer my little boy but a grown man. Where did the time go."

Jason had become a lot kinder to his parents over the years and had definitely developed a soft spot for his mother, one like most people possessed. Seeing her so emotional, he placed his hand on top of hers and patted it gently in comfort. Though his physical interactions with his parents were somewhat awkward due to the long lasting lack of it, Susan got the message he was trying to get across loud and clear. Her son, whom she had done a lot wrong by, was trying to comfort her. In his own way he was telling her that he would always be her son and that she should focus on her becoming a grandmother and not on him growing up. She wiped her tears away as she laughed through them, before changing her gaze at him to a smiling one with warm eyes. Though they still had traces of tears in them, the sadness was gone. Stephen used this moment to squeeze the top of his shoulder. He softly said, "Well done son." which reflected his thoughts on both him comforting his mother, the woman that he loved, and on the grandson he had helped bring into the world.

Jason returned his words with a smile and a nod of the head. Showing their father and son bond clearly, as both weren't much talkers when it came to anyone other than the person they had found to be the love of their lives. After their brief interaction, Jason's parents were replaced by his grandparents, who were just as overjoyed as the involved parents had been. Once all three permitted parties had been inside and had gotten to meet the long awaited grandson and great-grandson, Jenny and Jason were given another moment to themselves as both grandparents and great-grandparents joined the others in the festivities in Jenny's recovery room.
