Showtime!

One by one the guests trickling in and the room started to fill. Friends, family, all had been invited to celebrate their union, including all the parents of their group. Elizabeth had known them for many years and now that they had become friends, she thought it only right to invite them to her engagement party, just as she had been to Jenny's engagement back in the day. Though the atmosphere had been much different back then, the reason for celebration hadn't. When Elizabeth's parents came up to join them, all the groomsmen and bridesmaids to be saw that as their cue. They scattered away from the sand path so that they could go enjoy themselves and socialize. Jason was standing by the side with Harry's father, Harry himself. Jenny was over at the other side getting to know Sophia's parents and some of Elizabeth's aunts and uncles.

The party was in full swing when Susan and Stephen walked through the doors. By that time no one was there to greet them or welcome them. Not at the entrance nor when they walked over the sand path. They looked around for Jenny and Jason as they were greeted by different guests along the way, when Susan finally spotted Jenny and made eye contact with her. She waved at her and Jenny hurried over to in-laws in her high heels as she tried not to trip. With a big smile she greeted them and gave them both a light hug. "Mother, father. I didn't think you would make it. You have been so busy these past few days."

"We weren't sure either. Unexpectedly we finished up early today, so we went home to change quickly and went straight over." Susan held onto Jenny's arm as she looked over Jenny's look for tonight. "Look at you dear. You look stunning." "Indeed you do." Stephen chimed in. "If you don't watch out you will outshine the bride to be." "How did that son of mine manage to leave you by yourself?" Jenny chuckled and said, "Don't worry about that mother. Elizabeth will be sure to outshine every single person here tonight." "I will take your word for it then." Susan said. Then Jenny turned towards Stephen and said, "And regarding Jason, he forgot all about me when he came across Harry's father. He has been talking with him nonstop ever since. I guess as long as he has good company and the people around me are female, he is fine letting me out of his sight." The three of them laughed at that remark and Stephen said, "Well if Frank is here, then I understand. He is indeed an interesting man. I will go find them and see what story he has used to keep Jason by his side for so long." With that Stephen excused himself and had Jenny point him in the right direction, after which she took Susan over to the group she had been chatting with.

About one hour after the start of the party Jenny received a message from one of the servers. He had slipped her a note while pretending to be offering her an hors-d'oeuvre. She excused herself from the people she was standing with and opened the folded piece of paper. It was a note from Elizabeth telling her that she wanted to make her entrance in thirty minute and asking her to get everyone ready. But before she was able to look around for the other members of their group, Jason was already standing behind her. She was startled by his sudden appearance. With a suspicion filled look he stared into the direction of the waiter who had given her the note and asked, "Who was that guy? What did he want from you?" Jenny was surprised by his questions. It was almost as if he had a sixth sense about these things. She didn't know how he saw him and what had made this waiter more suspicious to Jason than the others that had offered her a snack, but she shook her head with a chuckle and a look of pure disbelief. "Jealous much? You haven't spared a glance at me for me this past hour, but the moment a guy enters the parameters you have set, you close in on me."

In truth half of his attention had been with her from the beginning, but he couldn't exactly stick by her side during the entire party. He was having an important conversation and he knew that what they were talking about wasn't something that Jenny was interested in. So, he didn't want to bore her by asking her to keep him company. He wanted her to have fun with the other guests. So, she could get to know some more people from their circle. But the moment that waiter had lingered around her the waiting was over and he started walking in her direction. "You know that I am. No need to act surprised now. I left you alone so you could have some fun with other people, not to have other people try and flirt with you." Jason said with an unmoved expression. "Calm down silly man. I am not as popular as you make me out to be. How many suitors do you think I have. If it isn't that classmate of mine, it's the poor waiter. He only came to give me a note from Lizzy. We have to get ready. She is making her entrance in less than thirty minutes. So, instead of fighting off competition that isn't there, help me gather everyone out in the hall." With that she walked away to complete the task she was given.

Reluctantly Jason went to gather whoever he could find. He spotted George and Sophia together at a table in a corner and Harry had still been by his father, so he wasn't difficult to find either. Jenny grabbed Julia. Once they were complete Jenny took them to a small room in the far back of the hall. She grabbed a few bottles filled with sand and informed them of the plan Elizabeth had for their entrance. Once everyone was caught up, they each grabbed a bottle from Jenny and stood side by side in pairs. With five minutes left on the clock they headed back to the room.
