Sharing truths

Jenny and Jason stood in each other's arms for a few minutes in complete silence, in the empty hallway until Jenny finally moved her hands, loosening her tight grip. Feeling her move, Jason opened his eyes, wanting to look at her. At the face of the girl he hadn't been able to look at from up close for a long time. But the moment he tried to create some space between their bodies to do so, Jenny instantly pulled him back. Pressing her face closely against his chest. While facing the window, she started to mutter "I am sorry. I am so so sorry. I can't believe that I was so stupid. I can't face you right now. So, just let me hug you like this for a while." Jason sighed softly as he patiently comforted her by stroking her back and her head. "I didn't get to see you for so long and now that you have finally come back to me, you still can't face me." He said jokingly.

But Jenny didn't accept his gesture as she was still blaming herself. "Don't be so kind to me. I don't deserve it. I am already being selfish by hugging you like this without any warning and without giving you the chance to reject me. I am so embarrassed and I feel so bad for fighting with you, for hurting you and blaming you. All for a guy like that." This was when tears started rolling down Jenny's face. Each drop that streamed down, was soaked up by Jason's clean shirt and the warmth of her tears passed through to his chest. He lifted her head with both of his hands and finally forced Jenny to face him, before he started wiping away her tears with his sleeves. "It's okay. I forgive you. Stop crying. If fighting with me wasn't worth it, then your tears certainly aren't either."

But for each tear that he wiped another one came down from her watery eyes and her breathing had started to become incoherent. He didn't like seeing her so upset. This hurt him more than everything she had said and done these past ten days. Seeing that she wouldn't stop crying, he resorted to the only other way he knew how to stop her tears. He lowered his head as he placed a kiss on each eyelid before shifting his lips to hers and placing a kiss on her lips. This finally did the trick. When he released her lips she continued to look up at him with reddened eyes before shying away. Jason chuckled, "It's a little too late to be embarrassed now." Oh how he had missed this silly woman. Though he didn't know what Max had done to make her run to him like this, he was thankful for his stupidity and other than that, he didn't seem to care about the reason for her return at all.

After the initial moment had passed, Jenny had finally calmed down and the both of them had relocated to the roof to talk in private and in peace. Though Jenny had initially planned on sitting next to him on the familiar rooftop, where they and their friends had shared most of their lunches, Jason didn't plan on letting Jenny out of his sight or out of his reach. Before she could take a seat, he had grabbed her arm and had tugged her over onto his lap. Jenny's face flushed red, but she had no reason to reject him when they were alone like this nor did she have the heart to say no to anything at this moment. Having missed him and being close to him as well, she sat on his lap quietly and without any protest.

After telling Jason what had happened, his eyes narrowed and his face turned cold. Feeling the change in atmosphere, Jenny turned her face around and placed her hand on the side of his face. Making him shift his focus back to her. As she looked at him deep in his eyes, she said the words she had wanted to say, back when she was a blubbering, stammering mess, "Though I am grateful that you forgave me so easily and I am happy that we can be together like this again, I think it is important to resolve the underlying issues to our fight and for me to say what needs to be said. So, I want you to know that although I still think the way you handled the situation with Max wasn't right, I was more wrong for trusting his words over yours. I shouldn't have been so easily blinded and I am sorry I let it get this far. I hope you can forgive me for my foolishness and that we can return back to the way we were."

As he looked at the clear hazel eyes that were staring into his, he thought to himself how this was one of the things he liked about Jenny. She was unwavering about what she needed to say and could admit her wrongs. Despite having apologized multiple times back in the hall, she didn't accept that as a proper apology as she was speaking out of pure emotion. For an apology to be genuine the mind needs to be involved as well, to make sure you know what you are apologizing for. Now that she had calmed down and knew that her tears could no longer affect his judgement, she faced her mistakes again and gave a sincere apology without holding back her stance on things. Jason smiled and said, "Well as long as we are sharing truths, you should know that I would have taken you back any second of every day that we had been apart. I wasn't the one that was angry, the one that I was upset with was Max and I will make sure he pays his dues. But with you I could never truly be angry." As he said those last words he pinched the tip of Jenny's nose lovingly. Making Jenny feel even more sorry for what she had said and done to him during this time. With saddened eyes she grabbed his tie and pulled his face down as she kissed him. This man that she loved so much and that she had missed so much.
