Same wish

Jenny watched Jason from the distance for a moment as he made tuft after tuft with the coloured whip cream, before walking up to him without making a sound and hugging him from behind. But no matter how soundlessly she had approached him, she didn't startle Jason who had been aware of her presence ever since she had walked into the kitchen. She placed her face on his wide back and with a soft voice she said, "Thank you." Jason smiled and put his hand on top of Jenny's before he said, "What are you doing in here? You should be with your guests. They came all this way to see you." "I know, but I wanted to see you." Jason chuckled at Jenny's spoiled behaviour. "You have been with me practically all day, what more do you want to see? I am almost finished in here. After I put on the final decorations, I will come out as well." But Jenny shook her head and remained in her position. "Then I will wait for you to finish and we can go out together."

Jason felt helpless against this kind of Jenny and gave in after what could barely be called a struggle. "Fine, you can stay, but no peeking. I don't want you to see the cake until it is completely finished." Before letting out a soft sigh and continuing what he was doing with Jenny stuck to his back. However, despite his sigh, his face was all smiles. Because although he didn't want to admit it, Jason quite liked it when Jenny was behaving spoiled and acting clingy. Those were the rare occasions where he wasn't the one to initiate their skinship and she would be more affectionate than usual. So, even though he showed some resistance just now, that was more for form as he was the one to organize this party and was no hogging the guest of honour. If she had really left, he would probably have been sad about it and would have regretted trying to do the right thing.

After just five more minutes Jason had finished putting the final touches on the cake. "Okay, I am done. I am afraid that I have to send you out now, because you can't see the cake until all the candles have been lit." With that reason Jenny's grip was loosened and she was pushed out of the kitchen. Though she put up a struggle, but no matter how she tried to throw in her weight or play dead, her weight meant nothing to Jason who worked her out of the kitchen effortlessly. In the end she returned to her guests and was welcomed with a loud cheer once more. Once Jenny was outside, he lit the candles and gave a sign to Julia to get everyone ready. She started off the singing and everyone else joined her soon after. During which Jason entered with the cake as he was singing along with the happy birthday.

Everyone was amazed at the cake Jason had made, including Jenny, who finally got to see the finished result. It was beautiful and he had had made the cake to match her dress. This was when it started to make sense to Jenny why he had insisted on her wearing this dress. He had really planned this party out well. Seeing this and being surrounded by all her friends and family, she couldn't have felt more special or loved than at that very moment. Her eyes seemed to zoom in on Jason, who was pushing in the cake on what seemed like a roomservice trolley. He was smiling at her gently and his eyes seemed to be focused on her as well. Without breaking eye contact, she fought back the prickling in her eyes and blew out candles to make a wish for the second time that day. But only she knew that both times she had made the exact same wish, and that was that she wished to be with Jason like this forever.

She was pulled out of her bubble when everyone started clapping and from all directions people stared hugging her as they congratulated her once more. After she cut the cake, people started bringing her their gifts. From outings from her friends in the Netherlands who wanted to use her gifts as reasons for Jenny to come visit them in the Netherlands, to her mother who had handmade a scarf to keep her warm as she worried over her daughter who lived in a different country, and to expensive dresses and purses from her friends from her new life. She was spoiled rotten in many different ways. And this was without her seeing the gifts that Jason had bought her behind her back. It was safe to assume that till her next birthday she wouldn't be short anything to wear or anything to do.

When everyone else had handed Jenny their gifts, Jason's grandfather came up and took a seat beside her. "Grandfather" "Hello dear, can I take the seat next to you for moment? These legs aren't what they used to be." Jenny quickly scooted aside to make space for Jason's grandfather and said "Of course, please sit down." as she gestured for him to take a seat. "Thank you for coming all the way out here for my birthday." "What are you saying. How could I miss your birthday when you came to mine and of course I didn't come empty handed." From his inner pocket he grabbed a beautifully wrapped box and handed it to Jenny. "My wife was responsible for the wrapping, but I promise that I was the one who picked out what's inside." Jenny chuckled and took the gift. With a teasing look on her face she said, "Let's see if it meets my expectations." The grandfather chuckled and said, "I am confident that it will. I put my pride as a Westwood elder on the line." Jenny acted impressed and continued their banter, "Well in that case it must be quite something. I will adjust my expectations accordingly!"

here we are with today's chapter. Jenny's birthday is coming to an end and we are almost moving on to other things. I hope you enjoy and that you will join me again tomorrow!
