Rush job

When they asked Sophia's parents, they told them that they could find George and Sophia in Sophia's room. They would be staying there till it was time for them to walk down the isle. So, together they headed upstairs to find the two of them. When they arrived at Sophia's room and knocked on the door, it was opened by a bright and calm George. "You guys made it. Good to see you all." After his greeting, he opened the door to let them all in and as he did he complimented the girls on their outfits, while he gave the guys a simple handshake and pat on the shoulder. Once they were inside, they noticed that George's serenity was the exact opposite of what Sophia appeared to be feeling. She was sitting in the make-up chair and was fidgeting with her already shaking hands. Her gaze was focused on an empty point of the table. Barely noticing them coming in.

When they looked at George for answers, he showed a slightly saddened smile and said, "She is just nervous. I have tried to calm her down and assure her that everything is going to be fine, she has it in her mind that everyone will be focusing on her pregnancy instead of our wedding. She doesn't want people to gossip, but considering that we suddenly changed the date and venue of our wedding, it is unavoidable that they will assume that a pregnancy is the reason for the rush. And since it is the truth, we are kind of out of options in terms of providing a different explanation. Plus, since a few things haven't gone to plan, she is worried that something might go wrong today and ruin what already isn't her dream wedding."

"I see. I'll try and see if I can get her to stop worrying." George let out a small sigh of relief. "That would be great. I'll leave it to you girls then." Jenny looked at the distracted, delicate figure and made her way over to her with the other girls. She tapped her on the shoulder, which finally made Sophia snap out of her stare and she turned her attention towards them. "Oh hey, when did you girls get here? You all look wonderful." She said with smile that tried to hide her nervousness. Jenny smiled at her warmly as she took a seat next to her and held her hands in her own. "We came just now. We wanted to check up on you guys before the ceremony starts."

With the same forced smile Sophia said, "How sweet of you three. Too bad that everything had to be rushed like this. It's nothing like how I imagined this day, but a wedding is a wedding right? Even if things don't go according to plan. I would have loved for you girls to be my bridesmaids and stand by my side at the alter, but there was no time to get the dresses ready. I'll make sure to do it right for the big wedding." Jenny shook her head to let her know not to worry about those things. "If you want us to, we will stand by you today as well. Matching dresses or not. Just say the word and I will fetch some flowers from somewhere and walk in front of you guys with Jason. I am sure the others will do the same." Finally half a laugh came out of Sophia. Not wanting to cause trouble for her friends, she politely declined. "Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. If I still feel this way in an hour from now, I'll take you up on that offer."

These words gave them a chance to ask about her current state of mind. One by one they said things like. "How are you holding up?"

"You seem a bit nervous and distracted."

"Is there anything we can do to help?"

Hearing their genuine concern, Sophia confided in them. Hoping that talking about it, might ease her nerves. While the guys kept George busy to make sure he would remain as stable as he appeared at the moment. With only a little over an hour till they had to walk down the isle, anything could still happen and at the same time, nothing could go wrong.

Sophia told them about the caterer that had first said he would be able to make the new deadline, but called off two days before the wedding. And how she had contacted multiple different dress stores, but none of them could take on a rush job like this to make bridesmaid dresses. And finally she told them about how she didn't like that the people in her family and George's family would gossip about her getting pregnant before getting married and having a sloppy rushed wedding. Explaining that she had lost many nights of sleep over this and hated that she wasn't able to enjoy her pregnancy like she was supposed to.

Jenny, though not always skilled in solving and recognizing her own problems, was a natural solver when it came to problems of others. So, once Sophia had let everything that was on her mind out, she started her counter. "We still have an hour and ten minutes, there is a lot we can do in that time. If we work together, we can make sure that this wedding, that isn't the wedding of your dreams, will at least be one that enjoy and can look back on with fond memories!"

Here we are with chapter number two! Sorry I am a bit late, but I hope you enjoyed it and tomorrow I will publish two more chapters.
