Rise and shine

Jason chuckled at Jenny's explanation of her worries and her following accusation. Though he had to confess that he really hadn't noticed at all. Even if he had, he wouldn't think twice of it probably. At most he would think that it was probably in the clothes hamper or something. Never would he go through the trouble of looking for a piece of clothing of his or worry about it going missing, let alone use that as a hint that Jenny might have done the packing for him. After talking for a few more minutes, Jason called it a night and let Jenny go back to join the others and to enjoy the food she had clearly been looking forward to. With the call ended, Jason readied himself for bed and set his alarm for just five hours after he had put his head on the pillow, allowing him to be barely on time for his flight that would be leaving at seven. Looking for comfort for his having to wake up that early in the thought that it meant that the night that was separating him from the others, and more importantly Jenny, would be over faster.

At the hotel, it was beginning to look like the party was far from ending. Jenny assumed they would be greeting the young night and bidding it goodbye only when it was almost time for Jason to wake up for his flight. Allowing her to call him before he would depart. Maybe even catch his grumpy face if he didn't check who the call was from before answering it. The idea of that was enough to excite, tempt and motivate Jenny all at the same time. For it took some endurance on her part to remain awake with the others. When they found out Jenny's motive for not going to bed when Elizabeth did, they became eager to help her stay awake on the premises that they could join in on the fun by standing behind her as she made the call. That was a deal she was willing to make with their unborn child's call for sleep holding her down.

Using her understanding of Jason from over the years, like she had done with the notes and packing his suitcase, she figured that with an early flight he would be trying to wake up as late as possible. He would assume that traffic and the lines at the airport would be practically non-existent due to the time of day. But since he was probably missing the people on the other end of his flight, he wouldn't risk missing it either. Forcing him to find a nice middle ground to work with. This left Jenny with the conclusion that he would be waking up between two and a half to two hours before the departure of his flight. Not wanting to risk waking him too early on an already early morning, she decided to not aim for the two and a half nor the two exact but call him at 4:45 AM. When she finally made the call at that exact time, Jason did not disappoint.

He was startled awake by what he thought was his alarm. Normally the difference in ringtone, would give the prank away but at night he always made sure to have the phone on vibrate. For fear that it would wake Jenny when he did receive an early message or call. Making it match the sound of his alarm. In his half asleep state, he searched for his phone with half closed eyes. When he grabbed it and pushed his hair back to get a look at the display through the cracks of his barely opened eyelids, he swiped the symbol on his screen on instinct instead of discerning what the symbol meant. This act made their little prank, which had started off as a sweet gesture, even better.

The moment the call was answered, much to the delight of the people gathered behind this end of the phone, they saw nothing but darkness. Leading them to believe that in Jason's unsuspecting, sleep deprived, state, he had not only not seen who the call was from but had in fact not seen that it was a call at all. Without uttering a word and while gesturing to each other to be quiet, they looked at each other and seemed to have come up with the same plan. Which was a bit mean but they didn't often have a chance of pranking Jason like this and getting away with it because Jenny had been involved and in some ways the mastermind of it all. On the count of a wordless three, they all yelled out "Surprise!" This not only caused Jason to jump up in bed again, somewhat disoriented, but also turn on the lights as he looked for the phone that he had placed by his side after turning off his alarm. Or so he thought.

This gave the group the pleasure of seeing Jason look for his phone, revealing his trained off body that was covered by no more than the boxers he had worn after his shower. When he finally did grab the phone under the sound of their laughter and occasional squealing, he stared at the screen with a disgruntled look and narrowed eyes that seemed to be shooting daggers. That was until the already surprised Jason was caught off guard by Jenny, who after getting her desired reaction, now spoke up and said, "Rise and shine sleepyhead!"
