Reconciliation

After talking about all that there was to talk about and emptying all that was on their minds, Jenny and Jason got ready for bed with a lightheartedness they hadn't felt in quite some time. That evening they finally returned to their bedroom together and slept in their room as couple once more. Holding onto each other tightly as they finally felt they had returned to where they belonged. In each other's arms. The next morning they woke up early and faced the curious faces of the staff as well as Jason's parents as they walked hand in hand. Each of them pointing at their clasped hands, before pointing up at the both of them and breaking into a smile after receiving a nod and a bright smile from Jenny while Jason awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. He was feeling a bit embarrassed by his behaviour during the past few days. For the first time since their relationship he was the one feeling this way instead of Jenny and he had been the one to cause these feelings in the first place.

While Jenny was caught in a tight hug by Susan, Stephen patted his son's back proudly as he said, "I knew you wouldn't give up so easily. Once we find the one we are destined to be with, we Westwood men go to hell and back to keep that person by our side. There was simply no way that you would let her go out of your own free will. Now make sure you hold on tight, so she never feels the need to leave your side again." Jason nodded as he replied to his father. "I will." His eyes never turning away from Jenny. Something which caused Stephen to smile contently as he too turned his back to the woman he had fought for and would continue to fight for till his last breath.

After their morning greetings to Jason's parents, who had returned to share breakfast with them now that the deadline had passed, and informing them of their plans for the wedding, they video-called Jenny's house to inform her family of their reconciliation as well. She had sent her mother a message last night to inform her that she would call her before school, so her mother had woken up early as well. Not that she was a late riser to begin with. Jenny's mother appeared visibly relieved that they had managed to fix their misunderstandings, where her brothers were more focused on teasing them to hide whatever they were feeling deep down. In turns they spoke to Jason, who did his best to hide his laughter. "You were halfway through your escape only to return to that prison of yours of your own volition." "Yeah, you finally had the perfect excuse to back out of that death trap you call a relationship. What were you thinking man?" "Blink twice if you are being forced to say these words or if you are held against your will?"

Even Jenny herself, who was acting as if she was angry by put her hands on her sides in an exaggerating way and puffing up her cheeks, couldn't help but let out a chuckle in between her forced frowns. She didn't know that her brothers had tried convincing Jason to take her back only a few days ago, but did know her brothers long enough to know they were joking and she responded with her own half joking threats and retorts.

"Don't be putting strange thoughts in his head. I have worked hard to make him this attached to me over the past year, the fruits of which I plucked this week. You people just don't realize what a good catch your little sister is." This was when Jason, who was standing behind Jenny's chair, put his arms around her neck as he kissed her cheek and pressed his face against hers. Hiding her shyness of him doing this in front of her mother and brothers, she continued by saying "If he does ever leave me, I will blame you till the ends of time and break up every single one of your relationships till my anger has cooled off." Now it was her brothers' turn to show their acting skills as they pretended to have been scared by her threat and were pleading for mercy as they cowered behind their mother's back.

After that warm conversation and after receiving approval from both sides for their decision to move the wedding forward, they said their goodbyes. After that they prepared for Jenny to have another day at school and Jason another day at the office. When they left to do that, Susan took over their video-call and talked to Jenny's mother for a moment. "I am sorry for my daughter's stupid action. I hope you won't hold it against her. They are still both quite young and are bound to make some mistakes along the way." Susan shook her head. "Rest assured. When she made the choice to move to England and be with Jason I took her in as if she were my own daughter and will forgive her mistakes as if she were as well. Jason is far from perfect as well and he too has made mistakes as have we. If anything I feel that I should apologize to you for not protecting your daughter well enough from the harshness of the world we live in." The two mothers continued to talk some more as both houses became more empty with the children leaving for school or University and Stephen and Jason heading out for work along with them.
