Rainbows and sunshine

The party that was already surprisingly fun, became even more fun now that their friends had arrived. Though they had arrived later on purpose because Elizabeth was suffering quite a bit from the fatigue caused by her pregnancy, making them not want to stay at parties for too long, she seemed to be enjoying herself now that she was here. Though they would probably leave before the party ends but she wasn't concerned about leaving at the moment. The men went around to mingle with each other, whereas Jenny and Elizabeth stayed near the buffet to chat amongst themselves. Though Nick and Jason were feeling a bit dejected to lose their companions so quickly after their arrival but they too realized that this might be more enjoyable for their wives, than following the two of them around and forcing out some pleasantries with their current and potential business associates.

As they were enjoying the small, delicate, finger foods and sweets, Jenny asked her Elizabeth how her pregnancy had been and if she was having any difficulties but Elizabeth explained that most of her symptoms went away when she entered her second trimester. However, she had still been feeling quite tired. " It seems that no matter how much I eat or sleep, the baby manages to drain all my energy in a few short hours. Making me not feel like doing much except what needs to be done, like attending my classes, making my assignments and taking my tests. Today I was feeling well considering my current circumstances. So, I decided to join Nick. Partially because I didn't want to stay at home alone and partially because I would feel bad to send Nick to such events without someone by his side." After rejecting the waiter who was offering the two of them a champagne glass, one that was obviously pregnant and one that managed to hide it well, Elizabeth continued her story.

"Though people probably wouldn't give him much fuss for arriving without a partner if he explained my situation, it still wouldn't look good. You know how these people are. He would be in the top ten talks of the evening if he came here alone. People would be making assumptions on their own. Thinking there might be trouble between us or that he is back to his playery ways. Though Nick said he wouldn't mind and didn't care about what people said about him, I do mind. He doesn't deserve people talking about him like that. So, I gathered the energy I had, to get dressed and prepared myself for an evening of mingling." Elizabeth pulled Jenny's face against hers with a big smile as she added, "Only to find out that you, my dear friend, was here too! Making the evening a lot less dreadful than I had initially prepared myself for."

With an amused expression and a bit of chuckle hidden in her voice Elizabeth continued, "At this rate I think that I might even have some energy left after the event ends and that my dear husband could potentially get lucky. He will be quite grateful to you for that." The chuckle that was hidden, came out during that last sentence. With a tired expression she said, "I can tell you one thing. Becoming pregnant and being constantly tired, makes being romantic and intimate a real challenge. Though he got himself in this mess, I do feel bad for Nick sometimes. If I am not busy with classes, both Uni and pregnancy, I am sleeping somewhere or making him go wherever to get me what I am craving at that point in time. Leaving almost no time for me and him to just be husband and wife. So, if I was you, I would really keep that in mind before you consider getting pregnant yourself. Because it isn't all rainbows and sunshine."

Though Jenny nodded on the outside and did her best to comfort her friend who was having a hard time with her pregnancy and the hormones that makes a woman lot more sensitive than usual, but on the inside she was thinking that her advise had come too little too late. Telling herself, 'That ship has sailed a long time ago.' Wondering how her friend would react when she would find out that she was pregnant too. And almost just as far along as she was. Meaning that they would become moms around the same time and that their children would be growing up together. But also finding out that so far, Jenny's pregnancy had been a walk in the park, while she appeared to be suffering from hers. Jenny hoped that her fatigue wouldn't last much longer and that Elizabeth would be able to enjoy her pregnancy alongside her and that they could go to classes and shopping for baby products together. With the reveal planned for tomorrow morning, it wouldn't be long till she would find out most answers to these questions.

The evening progressed smoothly and Nick and Elizabeth managed to stay till near the end. Alternating between talking with each other, their friends and doing what they came here to do. The four of them left together with just half an hour till the end time of the event. Thinking they had gained and invested enough for one evening. When the couples arrived at their respective homes, the festive energy that had been in the air seemed to still be affecting their moods and energy levels. Allowing both men to have a memorable ending to the evening, which was a bit more tricky during a pregnancy but far from impossible!

There is no hiding anything from Humaira_Jarjisa, who seems to notice and know most things before I even have a chance to write it out myself. But sadly, yes, she is right this time around as well when she felt that the story is nearing its end. Since this is something that all you readers deserve to know, I decided to answer her question in the author's note instead of in the comment section.

Every story must come to an end and with almost five hundred chapters, the time for this story to end has come as well. For now I have a few more things that I want to incorporate in the story. So, I can't tell you exactly when it will be. When the final ten or so chapters are in sight, I will announce it in the author's note.

The reason I am giving more upsprees and making use of time jumps is because I am getting more and more busy myself and I can feel that I am not able to give the story the attention it needs to keep a certain level of quality. So, I think it is best to wrap up the loose ends and give it a good ending instead of draging it out.

If there are subjects/characters/events you still want me to write about, let me know and I will do my best to create those chapters before I finish up the story as a whole.
