Put it behind us

Jason looked at Jenny with an unamused expression as he said, "No. You should know that isn't something I would get upset over. At least not with you." Slowly the tone of his voice started to show how upset he was as he elaborated on what had gotten him feeling that way in the first place. "I am talking about the fact that you stayed awake till 5 AM, disregarding the rest you and our baby need, JUST to startle me awake. Now I don't want to make a big deal out of this as it has already happened and I know you need your fun from time to time, but I NEED you to promise me that you won't do something like that again and that you WILL put your health FIRST. Set an alarm to wake yourself at five every morning and startle me awake with a sound horn for all I care. As long as you go to bed on time and go to sleep after that as well, you can prank me every which way you want. Pregnancy is hard on the human body as it is. No need to be turning it into an extreme sport by challenging the limitations it gives you."

After Jason's lecture on her neglecting herself ended, Jenny felt a bit ashamed for thinking that he was still pouting and overreacting, when he had been concerned for her health. Something she hadn't given enough thought when she had planned their little prank. She could have gone to bed, set an alarm for herself and still reach her goal. There was no need for her to stay awake with the others all night and push her body to its limits. Jenny hadn't felt like this in a long time. Mainly because Jason is as forgiving and lenient as his mind and body allows him to be towards her. Almost never getting mad or upset with her. But, when he does get mad, it is almost always for a good reason, one that irrefutable and mostly due to her endangering herself or their relationship. Just like it had been the case when she and Julia had gone on that blind date and had turned their phones off. Just like the matter with Max and just like his reason now.

Jenny was looking for the right words to say. With Jason already more upset about matters because of joking about, she didn't want to make the situation worse. If she had apologized from the start or if she had gone to bed in their own room. Allowing them to at least have a different kind of make up session, things wouldn't have gotten this tense. But now that she was in this mess of her own making, she needed to make things right. With her eyes cast downwards and her body telling Jason already what she was about to say in words, Jenny apologized. "I'm sorry Jace. Not just about this morning, but also about just now. You are completely right. As someone training to improve people's health, I of all people should have known better. All I can say is that I got caught up in the moment and let it cloud my judgement."

When he saw Jenny's body language and saw that she was aware of what she had done wrong, Jason's frown was lifted and with each following word from Jenny's apology the smile that had formed on his face started becoming wider and brighter. Making it clear to everyone who could witness the scene that he had forgiven her, including two of their friends who had woken up during their talk and were afraid to walk out during that tense conversation. All, except for Jenny who had avoided eye contact throughout it all. Jenny felt Jason place his large hands on top of her head, stroking her hair, and heard the sound of his chuckle, as he said, "Well, we all make mistakes. As long as you realize your mistake and promise to do better, we can put it behind us and focus on enjoying this vacation instead."

Jenny looked up to find any sense of anger or upset feelings in Jason's eyes to be gone, making her show a smile as well as she was glad that she had gotten her feelings across. Jason let out a sigh of relief as he said, "I am glad we got it out of the way now instead of me dragging it on, continuously wondering if I should bring it up or let it slide. Missing my moment in the end. Especially since I had been missing you, the chances of me letting my other feelings overpower this one, was high. But I guess the universe wanted that conversation to take place, as the thoughts to calm me down back there brought me to the events of that morning." In her mind Jenny was thinking, "I knew it!" but she too realized that it was better to have this conversation instead of wiping your feelings under the mat. That will only cause a lump that is bound to trip you one day.

The rest of lunch, or in Jenny's case a belated breakfast, was spent laughing, chatting and even had a warm make up kiss when Jason walked around to pull back Jenny's chair to let her get up. A chance he took to bend himself down and 'attack' Jenny from the side. Taking her by surprise!
