Odd behaviour

With some unexpected traffic on the way back home, they got to Westwood mansion in just over thirty minutes. As they opened the door they were met at the entrance by Jason's parents, Garry, and a few of the maids. They were welcomed and greeted on all sides and their bags were carried from the trunk of the car into the house and brought up to their rooms. Jenny couldn't help but feel that everyone was looking at them weirdly. Especially at her. They were smiling and when she asked what made them so happy, she would get a weird evasive answer and the topic would quickly be changed back to their stay in the Netherlands. She would have understood it if only Jason's parents would have that look on their faces, because they hadn't seen their son for over a month, and he had finally returned. She could even understand them missing her as they had lived together for a long time now and she would be their daughter-in-law. But it didn't explain why even Garry and the maids would have that look on their faces as they looked in their direction. She kept trying to put if off her mind, but she couldn't help being bugged by it as she felt left in the dark.

As the evening went on, their odd behaviour seemed to become worse. Now the staring and smiling was accompanied by whispers. Jason acting like nothing was wrong added to her suspicions. But no matter where she looked nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn't think of anything special occurring on this day or tomorrow for that matter. Not getting an answer out of anyone and getting tired from trying to figure out what was going on, Jenny decided to turn in early. The souvenirs had been given, stories had been told and a drink had been had. There was nothing left to do here, so she might as well make herself useful. She had a full day planned for tomorrow and she wanted to unpack their bags herself. So, if she wanted to be done at a reasonable hour, she figured she should start about now. "Mother, father, I still have a lot of unpacking to do. So, if you don't mind, I will head upstairs now so I can get started. Otherwise it will get late and I have a lot to do tomorrow."

Susan looked up at the already standing Jenny and said, "Oh of course dear. Don't let us hold you up. We sure got ourselves a diligent daughter-in-law. Go right ahead. We will continue chatting tomorrow." Jason took this chance to leave as well. He exchanged a meaningful look with his parents and pretended that he too wanted to go to bed early. "I'm sorry mom and dad. I think I will head upstairs as well. It's already quite late. Don't you guys have to go to bed as well? I thought you had a big meeting tomorrow dad, and mom, with school starting in less than a week, I imagine that you have plenty to do as well." With this their plan was set into motion. Susan winked at Jason and acted along. "Oh my, will you look at the time. How did it already become eleven o'clock?! We must have gotten lost in our excitement of seeing you guys again. By the time we will be in bed, it will be midnight. So, yes, it is time for me and Stephen to head upstairs as well. Good night dear."

Jason followed Jenny up the stairs and soon caught up with her. When Jenny noticed him behind her, she turned to ask "How come you came upstairs as well? Me wanting to unpack now and sleep early, doesn't mean you have to go to bed as well. You can stay to chat with your parents if you want to. I don't mind." Jason shook his head and used the wearing off of the medication as a reason for wanting to turn in. "No, my wounds started hurting again and I don't want my parents to know I got hurt. I want to take a nice bath and head to bed early. Could you help me apply some medication before we go to bed?" By keeping their conversation going Jason hoped to get rid of her suspicions and keep her attention from the hall. Though he had asked to keep everything looking the same as much as possible, he hadn't been upstairs yet either. So, he hadn't been able to see the end result yet and therefore neither if they had managed to keep it all intact.

Jenny opened the door as she replied to Jason's question "Of course hon. Does it hurt a lot? Those spots looked really painful and horrible. Hard to imagine that being from a few paint filled plastic balls. Especially when you realize that they let children play with those things. Good thing they make you wear goggles and a protective suit. Otherwise things would have really gotten ugly." With her focus being on Jason's wounds, she didn't realize the changes that had been made in the room that she had loved so much and had finally gotten familiar with. That is until she turned around and her jaw fell to the ground. With large eyes she looked around the room as she tried to take it all in. Just like had been the case with the first time she saw the room Jason had designed for her, she fell in love with what she saw instantly. She was amazed at how good Jason was at this. He must have gotten this from his mother, because no matter where she looked, everything looked like pure perfection!

Here is the chapter for today! Just before midnight and just in time to help us head into the weekend. I hope you will all enjoy and I will be back here tomorrow with two new chapters!
