Not just as a girlfriend (1)

Though still not ashamed, Elizabeth was feeling quite aware of what had happened between her and Nick last night causing her shyness. In her mind, any words she would say now could give her away and make it so that they would all know as well. Not knowing what to say, she decided to keep silent. But she didn't realize that being silent was so out of character for her that it made her even more suspicious. As Nick was working hard to tell the guys a believable story, Elizabeth was deep in thought about last night's events. She didn't expect things to progress so quickly between them. Though Nick was all smiles, their date had taken a turn for the worse last night and worked itself up to a disaster this morning. Who knew that a day that started with such happiness could be followed with a day that started with tears. It was all going well for the most part of the time they had spent together. They had been laughing, growing closer and she was feeling more and more that she had made the right decision in giving him a chance. Up until dinner she was simply thinking that Nick had truly earned his title as playboy. He had charmed her in every way possible during their date and more than once she could feel butterflies in her stomach. It wasn't until they were forced to spend the night elsewhere at a last moments notice, that things started going from bad to worse.

Nick had read Jason's message quite late and by then it was turning out to be very difficult to find two single rooms. So they had to spend the night in the same room, on the same bed. The only room that was available was one of the more expensive rooms, which was a honeymoon suite. Elizabeth had a bad feeling about spending the night here. She was feeling nervous and she was feeling like things were moving towards things she wasn't ready for yet. Though the sleeping arrangements would have been the same in the villa and they had slept on the same bed for the past couple of days as well, so this situation shouldn't have been any different, but somehow it was. Maybe it was the purpose of that room that got to her or maybe it was just her imagination running wild, because the room was made to create a certain ambiance. Though still slightly hesitant, she entered the room, because she knew that Nick didn't really have a choice in the matter either and didn't want to create a problem for him this late at night.

Thinking back on what had happened Elizabeth was feeling disappointed with herself. It seemed that now that she had decided to fall, she had fallen deep. All it took was one date, one day filled with love and affection, for her to lose a big portion of her reasoning. Combined with some drinks at a restaurant before, made her reservations and most of her boundaries disappear. She remembered that the first thing she saw when she opened that door was the dimmed light. The moment the door closed, the feeling of privacy, being in your own little bubble, took over the room. The feelings built up during the date combined with the romantic setting they were in, made them want to get closer and had pushed some of her nervousness and hesitations out of the door. They started kissing and one thing started leading to another. The finishing touch was delivered by Nick showing off his trained off body after getting out of the shower and whispering some sweet nothings in her ears. Before she knew it, things had progressed further than what she had intended when she started their date that morning.

When she had woken up the next morning she was feeling very vulnerable and scared, which caused her to start sobbing. She pulled her knees up and hid her face in her arms. Nick woke up shocked from her tears. "What's wrong?" Through her tears Elizabeth spoke to Nick "I didn't want this to happen yet. It makes me feel like this was what you were out for from the start. I feel scared and I feel used. Though somewhere I know that is not the case and it is unfair to put this all on you, but I can't help the way I feel right now." Nick, clearly feeling helpless, started stammering apologies while he tried to comfort her. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I never intended to make you feel this way. What can I do to make the situation better?"

This was the first time he had gotten a reaction like this after spending the night with a girl. It seemed he was going to experience a lot of firsts with Elizabeth, but somehow he didn't mind at all. What he did mind was that he was the one who had gotten her this upset. He intended to be the one to protect her, but had been the one to hurt her instead. Elizabeth finally looked up at Nick and said "I need for us to take things slow. I can't be treated the same way as those bimbo's that you have slept with before. I took a chance on you and I want to stand by my decision, but you of all people should know that I have some scars. I don't want to ruin what we have by moving too fast. I don't want my past to affect my future with you. If you meant what you said and you really like me for more than my body, then I want you to make a promise to me." Nick didn't care what he had to promise. He would do and say anything if it could help Elizabeth. The only thing on his mind right now was how to stop her crying. "What is it?"

I am happy to see more and more people joining us in the comment section, any comment, be it good or bad helps. So I want to thank Titania23, marvleD and geneu55.

Another thanks is reserved for patil_shrutika_21 for the power stone she gifted to yesterday's chapter.

Though Nick and Elizabeth's date might not have gone as you might have imagined, fear not. Some people need to overcome certain hurdles to come out of it stronger. So do these two, who carry their own past. One that of a playboy and one that of a damaged queen.
