Using his one free hand and getting help from one of Jenny's hands, Jason tore the egg open from the indentation that held the cupcake. As Jenny was feeding him the cupcake with her other hand Jason dug out the box that held his 'real' gift. Seeing the brand on the box he had a good idea of what it might be, but at the same time he knew the price an item like that would sell for. He knew that Jenny made good money at the nursing home, but he also knew she couldn't have saved up that much in the short amount of time she had been working there. With a perplexed look he glanced at Jenny, who was half avoiding his stare and half smiling at him innocently. With some reservation he opened up the box and he saw that it was indeed the watch his eyes had landed on almost half a year ago. He had gone to that shop not too long after, but the shop assistant had told him that the watch had already been sold. He had asked them if they could obtain another one, but he had been told that it was one of kind. Hearing that, he didn't look into it any further, but he never thought that the one who it had been sold to would be none other than Jenny and the person who it had been intended for would be he himself.

"Do you like it? This was the one that caught your eye that day right?" Jenny asked as her excitement had taken over and had made her forget her initial awkwardness. "I-i like it. It is a great watch with a great design, but how? This must have been expensive right?" Jenny rolled her eyes. "Don't even ask about it." She said with a chuckle. Jason turned a bit serious as he looked at her with firm eyes. "Jenny these watches cost up from 10.000 pounds, even though that isn't a large amount of money for me, it is a considerable sum. I know for a fact that you couldn't have earned this amount with your job at the nursing home during those short couple of months. Considering that I didn't get a notification of a charge on the card I gave you, I can only conclude that you paid for it with your own money somehow or that you borrowed it from someone. Both of those scenarios don't sit very well with me."

Jenny became a bit annoyed. "Jason, it is a gift. Sure it is an expensive one, but I wanted to gift it to you and the way I was able to do it is my concern not yours. So, just say thank you instead of spoiling the mood thinking about those things." Hearing these words, Jason's expression relaxed a bit. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spoil the mood. I just don't like the idea of you having to go through such lengths just to give me a gift when I would have been happy with whatever you got me. So, take what I am about to say in the most positive way possible and try to look at it from my perspective, but please don't do this again." Jenny sighed. "Don't worry. I won't be able to. At least not in the near future. I didn't borrow it from no one. I paid for this watch using my savings from the jobs I had back in the Netherlands. Those savings have now been completely emptied and I don't regret it one bit. If I was able to get you something you like and will be able to use for many years to come. It was worth every dime. Allow me the pleasure of getting you a gift like this as well. It's not just you who like spoiling the other person. At least now you know how I feel when you get me those crazy gifts."

Jason dropped his head against Jenny's chest with a chuckle, thinking how it isn't the same at all but feeling hopeless against her stubbornness and not wanting her kind gesture to be wasted. "I really am no match for you. Fine, I will accept your thoughtful gift without further protest. Thank you. I really like it and I will make sure to wear it often." "Good. Because it is non-refundable." Jenny said laughingly. "But you sure are crafty. Hiding that watch from me so early on without even having the funds yet. Even finding out what I wanted so easily. I must commend you on that." Jenny narrowed her eyes until they matched her arrogant smile. "Hew hew, don't underestimate a woman with determination. Women are usually much better at keeping a secret than men." She said as she lifted up her eyebrows teasingly.

"Yes, yes. You did very well today. But don't get too arrogant. If I do say so myself, I have some pretty good surprises to my name. One of which has seemingly inspired you today and one of the more recent ones being our room. Plus, the night is still young and I am not done yet." After he said that he lifted Jenny off his lap and placed her on the bed. "In fact, you aren't the only one who has prepared something for tonight." He got up, walked over to his side of the bed, before lowering himself to the floor. He emerged holding a cardboard box. "You just beat me to the punch." Jenny looked at the box full of curiosity and as she pointed at it she asked, "What is that?". "That dear Jenny, is your anniversary gift from me."
