My last secret

Jason waited for Jenny to take in all that she had been shown until now before he would reveal the most shocking part of their little tour. The part he was most looking forward to. It had been something built in back when his father became CEO and was something that had been kept a secret from the rest of the family, including him. Now that it was almost certain that he would be the next CEO and he would be using it starting tomorrow, he could reveal it to Jenny as well. With that revealed, he would have finally told Jenny all his secrets after almost two years of waiting. Allowing them to start their married life with a clean slate.

This part of the house had only been revealed to him by his father when it became clear that he too was going to settle down and had found his partner in life. In fact, he had taken him apart the very evening after Jenny had returned to the Netherlands to pack her bags and move to England. Not wanting to wait anymore to share this secret with his only descendant. Back then, they still lived in the same wing and he occupied the room that Jenny and Jason were now moving into. That is where he had showed Jason his very well kept secret. A part of the house that very few people were aware of, despite being there every day.

He took Jenny's hand once more and turned her around to face him. Her face was full of excitement with a hint of wonder. He chuckled before he said, "I know you have seen a lot and are probably quite tired but we can't go to bed just yet. Because now it is time for me to reveal my last secret and show you the final part of our tour." Seeing her trace of wonder increase, he asked her, "Are you ready for what I am about to show you now?" Acting as a true hype-man, not showing even a single clue of what he was going to reveal. Only building up her excitement with the mystery and secrecy. With a fastened heartbeat Jenny excitedly nodded. Wondering what it could be that had Jason acting so mysteriously.

With a smile on his face, Jason turned around and guided Jenny to the other side of the bedroom, where a door she hadn't noticed yet was awaiting them. The door, which was located beside their bed on Jason's side, opened to a mysterious space. Though she was certain that behind that wall should be the outside, nothing more than the darkened sky and the fresh night air, when she watched Jason step out onto what seemed like emptiness, she was forced to reconsider. It was something she had never noticed before during her stay in the Westwood mansion and was something that was well hidden from those that it did not concern. What they stepped into was a mysterious hallway or tunnel that was apparently made entirely out of a weird type of glass. Glass that made it appear like there was nothing there. Like an invisibility cloak had been draped over it.

Jenny turned to look at Jason for an answer as to what this tunnel like construction was, but he simply answered with a, "You'll see." and revealed nothing. They walked the tunnel slowly, as if going on a late night stroll in the outside. Allowing Jenny to take in the stunning view while trying to contain her evermore increasing feelings of excitement. With a heart that felt like it was on the verge of exploding they arrived at another door. Jason opened the heavily secured door with a key, a code and a fingerprint scan as well as an iris-scan. What they walked into was an office. Feeling that it was a little anti-climatic Jenny asked, "Why are we in an office this late at night? Where is this?" With a confident smile he said, "This, dear Jenny, isn't any old office. This is my office starting tomorrow." Jenny looked at him with a bewildered expression as she asked, "Your office? As in the office in the headquarters of Westwood International?" Jason nodded.

With big eyes, Jenny looked around the office, that would practically be Jason's second home for at least the next year. As she was taking her surroundings in, touching the name plaque on his desk that read his name and title, accepting that this was reality and not a dream, she asked, "But how did we get here? Isn't the office like a twenty minute drive or something?" Jason nodded again. "Yes, it is a twenty minute drive but that is because you have to ride around the Westwood property and through the city. But as you can see from up here, the woods behind the house are the same woods behind the headquarters. So, by making a straight path over those woods, you end up creating a huge shortcut. Turning that twenty minute drive into a fifteen minute walk." Jenny couldn't believe what Jason was saying, looking back and forth between him and the door they had just emerged from. But it was true. Even if she couldn't believe the walk she had been on, she could see the Westwood mansion in the distance. Proving that what he had said was all true. With glistening eyes she responded. "That is amazing...but what would you need something like this for?"
