Mastermind

Of course Jason immediately recognized Jenny's voice and when he abruptly opened his eyes for confirmation, he spotted her in the crowd that had gathered on the other side of the screen. Causing him to immediately stop frowning and let out a small sigh. A layered smile forced its way to his face when he saw the amused look on Jenny's face. Jenny cheerfully continued to talk to her somewhat unwilling participant as she had passed the point of tired to a state of hyperactivity. Using Jason's silence, caused by his tiredness, as permission or an approval to do so.

Knowing that Jason was someone who could never get himself to get angry with her, she ignored what time of day it was and that he had just been woken up in a less than pleasant way, as she bravely rubbed some salt in his wounds with her banter spoken to him in English that belonged in the 19th century instead of their own. "You have a plane to catch my dear husband and I for one was eager to help you wake up in time for it. With the help from our loving friends it appears that I have succeeded. I shall disturb you no longer. May you have a blessed morning and a speedy return to your lady's side." After which she left the conversation as abruptly as she had started it.

Jenny had clearly enjoyed the new side she had finally seen of Jason, which was a side most people tried to avoid at all cost. But this fearless wife of his purposely provoked it for her own amusement. After hanging up the call, Jason dropped himself back on the bed, he had so rudely been forced out of. Letting out another sigh, while he shook his head, as he asked himself somewhat jokingly if he was sure that Jenny still loved him and if he had done anything to deserve this attack so early in the day. Though he clearly knew the answers to those questions, he couldn't think of other reasons for Jenny teasing him that way. Added to his frustrations of this morning was the fact that since it was very clear that Jenny had been the mastermind behind it all, he had no one to vent his frustrations on either. Making him have to swallow or deal with it all before reaching the hotel.

He chose the latter by looking for the bright side of things. He told himself that luckily, they had called him not long before his real alarm was supposed to go off and that getting to see Jenny's smiling face first thing in the morning, like he usually would have, should be considered a positive start of the day. In fact, it had turned his dreadful early morning in a more pleasant morning than it would have been if he had only the alarm to wake him. With this Jason allowed himself to find a benefit in Jenny's actions for both sides. At least that was at first. Until slowly other information that had been obtained during the conversation starting sinking in and started occupying his thoughts.

When his real alarm went off just moments later, Jason was already wide awake contemplating on whether to laugh along at Jenny's joke that she had clearly worked very hard for by forcing herself to stay awake in order to execute it, or punish her for those very same facts. He wasn't really aware of it when they were talking on the phone but as he thought about the conversation after hanging up, it was clear to him that they were still by the poolside and that Jenny had been wearing the same clothes she had on when they spoke on the phone yesterday evening. Meaning she had probably not slept at all till almost 5 AM, while being over six months pregnant. It was clear to him that Jenny was due a proper scolding as he had been too kind and forgiving towards her lately for her to think that potentially damaging her own health for a prank is good idea. But he didn't want to deny her fun with friends, especially during their last trip together before the babies come, just because she was pregnant. And he definitely didn't want their first interaction, after him joining her over there, to be an argument.

Having no time to think about the matter now, he decided to let it be and think of what to do when he saw her in person. He was on tight schedule and could not risk missing his flight. With his bag already packed, all he needed to do was get himself dressed and make his way down to the car parked out front. He wasn't planning on having breakfast until after boarding the plane, so that wasn't something taking up any of his time either. With things so well planned and thought out, Jason arrived at the airport almost an hour before his plane was supposed to leave. As he passed through the check-in procedures and the customs line, he was at the gate with minutes to spare before boarding would start. Having booked a VIP seat, he was allowed to get into the plane as one of the first passengers. Making the total time he had to spend waiting, practically non-existent and the time for him to reach the group inch closer by the minute!
